All my stitching things out to start a new cross stitch. But cannot find a correctly sized needle.

Champagneforeveryone · 21/06/2021 00:32

I have just done some sewing, I am not a natural (my DGM who was a seamstress in the West End would be turning in her grave)

I struggled to try and explain what I repaired, but it was too many words and too boring, even for this thread Grin

Silkiecats · 21/06/2021 00:56

Just had no electricity, no phones, no wifi for a couple of hours and apparently its covering quite a wide area and now will go on and off for next 3 hours.

Just came back on and then a spider dropped onto my bed right on me. I killed it.

Frownette · 21/06/2021 01:07

@Silkiecats yeah I don't blame you. I would have intense rage at the blackout and not take kindly to 8 legged intruders.

It's quiet here, even the students have shut up (probably hungover). I need to go back home tomorrow (today). I haven't bought a new bra since 2017 so I'm mildly excited about my new ones arriving

Silkiecats · 21/06/2021 01:21

DH normally deals with spiders and is opposed to killing them but he is asleep with Silkiecat as she started crying for him. I'm less tolerant of spiders, I'm OK to leave them if they don't crawl on me.

Lights have been flickering again but still have power.

Frownette · 21/06/2021 01:27

Do they sleep on the sofa? I haven't had a good power cut since last year, it was frustrating as I had telephone appointments and had to keep a wary eye on my phone battery.

When does dd start her maths award?

Silkiecats · 21/06/2021 01:33

They sleep on a single bed together which DH put in the dining room for the cat. At our old house she had her own bedroom with a single bed in.

DD's Maths thing isn't until August.

Frownette · 21/06/2021 01:36

The cat has her own bed Grin That's fantastic

Silkiecats · 21/06/2021 03:11

DH offered DS some of his Father's Day cakes. He said DS took a scone with clotted cream and jam, a fruit custard tart, a macaroon and a chocolate brownie.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 21/06/2021 05:41

Dh wants to loose 5kg so no cake here.

I quite like spiders

Frownette · 21/06/2021 05:52

Shop opens at 6am, I'm desperate for a chilled drink.

HelenaJustina · 21/06/2021 06:08

There is an agenda of considerable length for my meeting this morning. Item no.1 is risk assessing two upcoming events. I anticipate this item will take up all the time allocated for the meeting.

SimonJT · 21/06/2021 06:17

I’ve been awake since about 4:30, I have online training on some new software from 9:30-2:30.

Kill me.

Frownette · 21/06/2021 06:43

Ah, I don't usually get murder requests at this time of the morning

Champagneforeveryone · 21/06/2021 11:07

Rain, rain and more rain. The sun was a pleasant diversion but it seems we have reverted to type Hmm

Sunbird24 · 21/06/2021 14:21

I’ve just had an orange Twirl. It was lovely.

HildaTablet · 21/06/2021 14:41

I really fancy some cake now after Silkie’s tempting posts. It was my birthday a couple of days ago but nobody sorts out cake except for me and I was driving the 200 miles back home, so I don’t have any.

It’s raining. Again. The blackbird and robins are clustered round the back door staring in, waiting to be fed, every time I go out. It’s like being in a Hitchcock film.

MissConductUS · 21/06/2021 14:45

We had a nice Father's day celebration last night. DH opened his cards and presents with MIL and DD on Zoom, then we had dinner, which was grilled fillet steaks for the men and grilled chicken for me. We also had a cold pasta salad from a box, called "Suddenly Salad". The last of the strawberries from the farm, along with shortcakes and whipped cream made desert. We haven't seen my MIL in a bit so we made plans to drive to hers next Saturday and take her out to dinner.

I gave DH a new pair of tassel loafers to wear to work. His old ones are pretty knackered. The kids give him some chocolate covered almonds and cherries and a fancy LED flashlight. DH is a bit bonkers for flashlights.

Simon, that is a lot of software training. Hopefully you're getting some breaks.

I had to google orange twirl Sunbird. They look tasty.

Our wedding anniversary is next week. I've just ordered DH a card from Amazon. They have a really nice selection and it saves me from having to pick one out at the shop.

Hilda, Happy Birthday and that's awful than no one got you a cake!

Cake

Did you at least get some cards and presents?

OP posts:
HildaTablet · 21/06/2021 15:28

Thanks MissC - yes, I did. DH just isn’t very good at thinking through any of the other things that might be nice to have. He wouldn’t be bothered about it for himself so he can’t really see why anyone else would be. I might make myself a cake at some point.

Sunbird24 · 21/06/2021 15:31

I should Hilda, and don’t share it!

HildaTablet · 21/06/2021 15:38

Well...I did feel a bit upset when I rang from my mum’s house to say I was about to start for home (having been going through her stuff and going to the tip etc...very emotional couple of days) and he didn’t make any mention of it being my birthday Sad

Emotional intelligence isn’t his strong point sometimes. Sorry, not too exciting for this thread but probably a bit too downbeat...

HildaTablet · 21/06/2021 16:06

Sorry about that! Didn’t mean to vent quite so much...

Frownette · 21/06/2021 16:08

I have my new bank card through. I exist.

Portlandia · 21/06/2021 16:15

Haha @Frownette, great name 😁 I feel Sundays are a rest day, well deserved. I ended up going out for a walk and watching The Dead Don't Die in the afternoon, love a Bill Murray film
