@Champagneforeveryone they certainly used to sell it in the farm shop attached to the plant nursery near my parents down in Somerset, and quite possibly the shop attached to Doddington Hall in Lincoln, so maybe other farm shops could be worth a try?

Frownette · 15/06/2021 16:58

@Sunbird24 did you do that festival with your friend? I just spoke to one of my friends and really want to go down for a week but not sure if that's permitted now? It would be so lovely to just be daft with a best friend again even if just in the living room!

Sunbird24 · 15/06/2021 17:30

@Frownette the Isle of Wight one? It’s in September, so fingers crossed it’ll be going ahead! I know what you mean, I can’t wait til I can spend some time with my best friend

New York is lifting almost all covid restrictions after hitting 70% adult vaccination. Thank goodness.

Here we are at 48,7 % with one vaccination and 26,8% fully vaccinated. So they are keeping the doses in line. 'Betriebsärzte' (company doctors ?) are getting involved now.

My lavender is in bloom and the nasturtiums are budding.

HelenaJustina · 15/06/2021 20:01

We can only have 6 adults to DC4’s FHC Mass, but everyone is still coming to celebrate with us in the garden afterwards. I need to start doing some planning for the catering.

IWanderedLonely · 15/06/2021 20:16

After all the talk on Radio 2 about bees, we've decided to try turning half (to begin with) of our front lawn into a wildflower meadow. It's about 8 foot square and we don't sit out on the front so won't miss it. Not expecting much this year, but we can but try.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 15/06/2021 20:16

Helena at least you can celebrate in you garden. What food will you have?

IWanderedLonely · 15/06/2021 20:18

I've just read my post back. Is "can but try" familiar to everyone or is it a local my mum's saying?

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 15/06/2021 20:27

@IWanderedLonely - that is a great plan. I've filled my tereasse with wildflowers, too

HelenaJustina · 16/06/2021 06:35

‘Can but try’ is one I know!

@Prokupatuscrakedatus due to a wedding earlier in the day, the Mass will be mid afternoon to allow for cleaning of the church. So I’m going to serve ‘afternoon tea’ afterwards. Little sandwiches, little sausage rolls, cake, scones etc. Please God the weather stays okay for the garden!

Frownette · 16/06/2021 06:59

@Sunbird24 yes! Only a few months then :)

My hair has somehow morphed into a birds nest during the night so I'm trying to detangle it with my fingers before I have a shower

Champagneforeveryone · 16/06/2021 08:31

Lots of horse boxes about this morning. It's too early for the hunt so I'm perplexed.

Is there a horse show on nearby?
HildaTablet · 16/06/2021 10:30

' We can but try' is definitely a familiar phrase to me, IWandered

I have to get in the car and drive 200 miles today. I don't want to Sad

Squirrel26 · 16/06/2021 13:41

There’s a dressage competition on at a riding school near here, but I don’t think you live near me, so it probably isn’t that. Grin

I am tired. I’ve already bought 2 expensive take away coffees this week, which is 200% over the number I try to buy. But it’s very tempting to get another one.

Frownette · 16/06/2021 15:40

I wasn't really focussing at first and thought 'that must be upstairs' then realised there wasn't an upstairs so put all noise off. If the seagulls weren't doing aerobics sessions there must be a culprit for the thump thump thump. Turns out neighbour's DIY.

Champagneforeveryone · 16/06/2021 16:04

I am going to watch DS's A-level drama production. This necessitates a Covid test beforehand, and sitting in a designated seat with a mask on for over 3 hours.

None of the above fill me with any sense of excitement

MissConductUS · 16/06/2021 16:36

Hilda, is the trip for work? Is it at least a nice drive?

It's a lovely spring day here. DH is back at work in person today. He's still not cleared for driving, so I am his ride today. It's not much of a detour for me, so no problem.

Hurray! Well done to New York.

theDudesmummy · 16/06/2021 18:50

Next week will be two weeks after my second vaccine. I have booked a haircut, a facial, a pedicure and a personal training session. I feel nervous about all of them!

It’s Royal Ascot week so maybe for that?
DoctorTwo · 16/06/2021 20:58

Filled the car up today, doubling the value of the thing. While I was filling up I noticed a woman at another pump having a bit of difficulty, and call another woman over to help. They couldn't get the filler cap off, so I offered to help despite being rubbish at things needing strength due to me being a weed. To my surprise the thing opened easily. I walked away knowing i'd done a good thing for somebody I don't know.

I'd forgotten how nice one feels after doing random nice things for strangers.

MissConductUS · 16/06/2021 21:06

I just had the last piece of the apple caramel cake from the farm store with a cup of coffee. It was lovely.

I had to ponder "horse boxes" for a minute. Smile

By the way, thanks for taking good care of the Bidens this week.

Please don’t judge me, but I just found a hole in my knickers that definitely wasn’t there when I put them on, and I’ve no idea how it happened! 🤭
