Sounds lovely @MissConductUS so glad it was a happy return. We definitely need to be in physical ‘communion’ with each other, spiritually and emotionally!
@Squirrel26 I find the sound of a football match soothing too. It reminds me of Sunday afternoons on the sofa with a book while it played in the background and my DDad was decidedly unsoothed

HelenaJustina · 14/06/2021 06:31

@mathanxiety although teenagers no longer need to wear masks in schools in most of the country, secondary colleagues report that a good 2/3 pupils are still wearing them. I don’t think you are being unreasonably cautious looking at our Delta variant case load over here!

bigbaggyeyes · 14/06/2021 06:34

After my second session with a chiropractor I've woken up without a headache for the second day running Smile

ZZTopGuitarSolo · 14/06/2021 13:50

@mathanxiety

I got my car back from the repair shop yesterday afternoon - I ended up calling them, and the teenager they had left on duty said, 'Oh yeah, it's ready', as if it had been sitting there ready for hours. Good thing I called. I had to walk to get it during the mother and father of a thunderstorm but the tree cover is so dense here that I didn't get too wet. I drove around for a bit to test out the brakes and they were fine. The total bill came to exactly what the estimate was, which was a relief.

Did some potting after buying some sun loving annuals at Walmart this afternoon. The previous annuals I bought were struggling in the sunlight so I moved them to a shadier spot.

The archdiocese here has thrown all caution to the wind as of Friday, so no masks required at Mass today, but I was among the dozen or so wearing one all the same. The Delta variant has appeared here.

Star to Spuddog.

DD was wondering why her graduating senior friends at NU were all posting photos of themselves hiding under the bleachers yesterday. The thunderstorm would explain it :-)

Welcome, @bigbaggyeyes, and thanks for sharing your symptomatic improvement news. Did the chiropractor give you a diagnosis?

It's pouring rain here. As usual, we get the weather a day or two after Math is done with it. I am not thrilled to be back at work after a three-day weekend.

Thank you all for your Spuddog wishes. He is very much on the mend, and is now hobbling rather than outright limping like a drama school reject, can leap up and down from the furniture like a pro, and is refusing to sleep anywhere other than his proper, designated nighttime basket now (poorly dogs get special living room sleeping privileges, as long as it isn’t a stomach upset). He is also very miffed that DH has once again gone out without him and has told me about it at length.

I have taken the car to the garage to have the aircon regassed. Turns out there was no gas in the system whatsoever, but also no leaks to be found, so who knows what all that was about. Other than that the garage think it looks good - I’ve been going there for over 10 years and they’ve always seen us right, so I trust their judgement.

DS went to a party at the weekend and found it hugely exciting - he enjoyed it very much but also had a proper stonking meltdown - 3 of them, actually. So I was exhausted by the time we got home and ready for a rest! Fortunately the other mums all know about his needs so there weren’t too many cats bum mouths, and of course they’re all so little and have missed out on so many parties. One of the other mums suggested we should all get together and have a picnic and maybe a cake at the end of term, as so many of them have missed out on proper birthday parties this year.

I have put the fly netting back on the windows and ordered a bigger paddling pool, so we are probably due a good storm now 😂

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 14/06/2021 17:22

DH has his first small work event outdoors in a pub garden since last april. Grin Smile

soddingkitten · 14/06/2021 17:37

I lost you all for a while so I hope everyone is OK.

I heard my neighbour’s big, gruff teen son chatting to Sodding earlier when I was hanging out washing. 😂 Due to Sodding’s recent wanderlust I’ve used the street WhatsApp to ask for sightings, so everyone knows who he is now. Since we got back from our holiday we’ve heard he’d visited half the houses in the street for a chat. I don’t think he understands mine/yours as a concept.

I wish I’d refilled the ice tray last night.

theDudesmummy · 14/06/2021 17:38

We have such a huge midge wave here that we have to change the sticky paper on the midge-killing machine every morning, and the fan has to be declogged every day (i don't do it, DH does!). Hope it is over soon....

DH gets second Pfizer on Sundy.

SimonJT · 14/06/2021 17:53

I’m so pleased Spuddog is on the mend.

I posted a few days ago that my son finally slept through the night, it was very much a fluke.

Today me and my husband gave blood for the first time, there was a big group of us from our rugby club. It has taken six years of fighting to get to this point and the support of everyone who attended our illegal blood bank in 2019. Hopefully more units to follow.

Squirrel26 · 14/06/2021 19:26

I am very hot. I'm eating pasta which is not helping.
Watching a very old Simpsons Halloween episode. Marge is a witch.

MissConductUS · 14/06/2021 19:51

Spudlet, I'm so glad to hear Spuddog is feeling better. Your aircon has a leak, they just couldn't find it. If it's a very slow leak it might be fine for months. Replacing the system is insanely expensive.

Sodding, it's lovely to see you, dear. Just yesterday I was wondering what Soddingcat was up to these days, so thanks for the update. When we replace our fridge last year the new on came with an automatic ice maker. I love not having to make ice.

Squirrel, The Simpsons is one of our great cultural exports, and provides deep insights into American culture. I'm pleased you're watching it.

I just had a tiny slice of the Apple Caramel bread and some sliced strawberries from the farm. I'm determined to eat them before they go soft.

I sit here watching a YT video of Ladysmith Black Mambazo & Bläck Fööss (bare feet) performing Homeless 1990 in Cologne.

soddingkitten · 14/06/2021 20:26

I have caught up.

Sunbird What a difficult day you had, such highs and lows. My condolences for your colleague.

Spudlet Sorry to hear about Spuddog. He sounds like whatever time he has left will be the best possible, as you are spoiling him magnificently.

My dull news is that after a year of constant imminent doom messages about the battery being nearly flat every time we started the engine, our long holiday journey has restored it to full charge. Our mileage has been virtually nil with home-working and all the restrictions. Most of the stores and services we need for day to day life are within walking distance of our home.

Thanks for the warm welcome back MissC. 🙂

IWanderedLonely · 14/06/2021 20:43

Sorry the sleeping through was a fluke SimonTJ. Hopefully it will happen again soon.

My psoriasis has flared up again. It's usually a sign I'm overdoing it.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 14/06/2021 20:56

Iwandered with my workmate it is the heat.

Squirrel26 · 15/06/2021 09:57

I love The Simpsons. I am STILL not over the excitement of it arriving on terrestrial TV (6pm Fridays, BBC2) - this was like 20 years ago. I had orchestra on Friday evenings and I remember the conductor asking in frustration ‘why is everyone always late?’ The reply from the kid he’d asked was ‘because The Simpsons is on at 6 and we don’t want to leave till it’s finished.’ Grin

Frownette · 15/06/2021 10:51

The strawberries look lovely.

Aw poor little Spuddog, at least you're there to administer love and caring.

It was baking yesterday, I was soaked through and had to try to stay still all day as I can start retching if I'm overheated with movement. I tried to put my head on the pillow to go to sleep then felt nauseous again so grumpily had to 'sleep' upright. Bit cooler today.

Champagneforeveryone · 15/06/2021 10:53

I cannot buy my favourite Tracklements mustard ketchup anywhere. I was practically inconsolable in Waitrose when the assistant said they had stopped stocking it Sad

If it's the sweet mustard ketchup, Amazon have it.
Champagneforeveryone · 15/06/2021 11:36

It is sue, many thanks. I've tried to hold off as it's so overpriced on Amazon but times are getting desperate.

In a fit of economic zeal I bought ordinary piccalilli but it was not the same

Frownette · 15/06/2021 11:38

Do you use it for burgers/sandwiches?

Champagneforeveryone · 15/06/2021 13:53

To be perfectly honest frownette I use it for most things. It's the perfect texture and taste and... just ....

Frownette · 15/06/2021 14:25

Champers oh my gosh this is an emergency isn't it, an emergency??? Start a thread on substitutes?

I'm managing to balance a bit better today as it's less hot. Can't wait for the thunderstorms predicted. Might even be able to balence in the shower today (or sit down in it), swear it's menopause
