spudlet Take a well deserved rest!

Physio again today and I am almost back to my usual speed.
NDN came round for a sheet of baking paper.
The blackbird on the chimney sings lovely.

MissConductUS · 01/06/2021 20:22

Spudlet, you are an industrious inspiration to us all. Smile Do you have my brownie recipe?

We had a good visit with the orthopedic surgeon. DH is healing well and will probably be able to drive by the end of June. I came with a list of questions about my surgery, the first of which was could he do it arthroscopically. This technique uses a surgical tool and a camera that are inserted through a very small incision and leads to a much quicker recovery with less pain and lower risk of infection.

He does not do the surgery arthroscopically, but the massive medical practice I go to just hired a surgeon who has done hundreds of them for my hip problem, so I have an appointment with him on Friday. I looked him up on-line, and he's formerly a team doctor for the National Football League and gorgeous looks very competent. Grin

Beautiful sunny day here Went to a thatched pub by the river then canoeing for 2.5 hours on the river with ducks, swans, cows etc and beautiful countryside.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 02/06/2021 06:49

How lovey!
I am off to work - no rain so far

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 02/06/2021 06:49

I missed an l

Champagneforeveryone · 02/06/2021 09:23

DDogs and I have already done a 3 mile walk. I have laundry on and am eating leftover chicken chow mein for breakfast.

DS is having a full on conversation with me through the medium of WhatsApp as he's still in bed. I am approximately 15 steps away from him Hmm

HildaTablet · 02/06/2021 10:21

I am sitting in the sunny churchyard next to our local park, having gone out for a takeaway flat white at the nice little coffee shop. It’s pleasantly warm and very quiet apart from a lot of birdsong and the occasional crash from the film people unloading gear from their vans on the street. We have a lot of filming round here because it’s very picturesque. Not sure what they’re doing but a big crew was here a couple of weeks ago so it might be pickup shots for that, or indeed something entirely different.

HelenaJustina · 02/06/2021 10:51

I’ve dropped the car off for MOT and service and run home. Making soup with a left over cauliflower and two broccoli stems. Otherwise v chilled day here. Have my first hair cut in 19 months at 6pm - nervously excited!

Champagneforeveryone · 02/06/2021 12:25

Nocturnal hairdressing helena, how thrilling!

I hung the bedding on the line. Then bought it back in because it was raining. Then put it back out because it stopped. Then bought it back in again and so on. I've finally cracked and it's in the tumble dryer.

HelenaJustina · 02/06/2021 14:06

I know champagne! I really just want them to cut it all off, but I have extremely curly hair and the girl who used to cut it has now left the salon - so think I’ll just go for a wet cut and see what happens. Weirdly trepidatious... does wearing a mask mean I don’t have to make small talk?

soddingkitten · 02/06/2021 18:31

We are blessed with our holiday weather. The wifi is now fixed in our cottage. 🎉 Sodding is holding his own. Lovely Neighbour sends regular updates of him sunbathing in her garden with Shyboy or sitting expectantly in her kitchen. 🙀 Cat Lady Friend who is doing the feeding sent a WhatsApp of him cradled baby-style in her arms this morning, so they’ve obviously hit it off. I have a glass of chilled white wine in my hand and nibbles in reach. All is right with the world.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 02/06/2021 18:59

Another dry and sunny day - which I spent at work.
But - on my way home I saw that a small gelateria has opened on the square, which I have to pass on my way home every time. Smile

Squirrel26 · 02/06/2021 20:23

I'm watching football. I'm not really sure why, because I don't really like football. Someone seems to have fallen over.

I have a Vanilla Crown Pastry that I got from the reduced trolley in the Co-op earlier for 26p. I was in there buying crisps and ice cream vegetables.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 02/06/2021 20:30

I've got a new android tablet. Somehow I have pinned an app to the start up, it opens all the time and cannot be closed on its own. The little locket in the top right corner is closed. Aaaaargh!
I am googling like mad to change this back to normal.

I was even on the verge of excitement, but I calmed down again.

IWanderedLonely · 02/06/2021 21:42

Today is my granddaughter's birthday. I made a birthday cake, it tasted very good, but my attempt at a fondant icing panda was very poor Blush. Luckily she's very easily pleased.

Champagneforeveryone · 02/06/2021 21:59

Just checking in for news of helenas nocturnal haircut

prok, DH and I feel strongly about supporting local businesses, which is of course the only reason we visit the pub or buy ice creams in the shop. You would be doing your local economy an absolute service if you were to drop in on a regular basis Wink

squirrel ditch the football. Pre lockdown I discovered 20/20 cricket and women's rugby. Admittedly I was drunk supporting local businesses on both occasions, but life's too short to devote it to watch football.

iwandered it's so lovely when they're oblivious to ones culinary shortcomings isn't it. DS is a very good baker (better than me, who is more enthusiastic than talented!) and I feel his sage eye roving over all my offerings Grin

Sunbird24 · 02/06/2021 22:06

I went to the supermarket for milk and spent £98!
However at least now I’m not stuck wearing my jeans throughout the summer as I now have some summery clothes in my new bigger size

Silkiecats · 02/06/2021 22:08

I charged my laptop unfortunately with the wrong charger so it was still on same battery. I have now moved the wires further apart.

I won on premium bonds for the first time since buying them in Feb and got £75. DS (14) was giving me lots of financial advice yesterday, he told me if I put my money in stocks and shares I can get an average return of 11.74% a year.

Having lamb kebabs and couscous for dinner, lovely weather again though we were both a bit worn out from canoeing and Silkiecat also howled at DH in the night to make up for the time he was missing canoeing. In the end he went to sleep downstairs with her. She then ignored him.

Silkiecats · 02/06/2021 23:28

DH just came up and said I am coming to bed but I am going to make Silkiecat so sad. I said its OK you can sleep with Silkiecat, he said you won't miss, I said no its fine be with Silkiecat. He said Silkiecat will be very happy.

OhWhyNot · 02/06/2021 23:36

Pusscat soldier sat on the ironing board just as I popped out of the room for one minute

He is loosing so much fur at the moment

He did that I’m not moving form here don’t try and make me move and is now sulking on the bed probably deliberately shedding more fur

Silkiecats · 03/06/2021 00:22

Silkiecat has now fallen asleep so DH has come to bed - he said its hard being so much in demand.

HelenaJustina · 03/06/2021 06:29

Sorry @Champagneforeveryone ! It was bliss, the whole experience. Hair washed, head massage, cut and blow dry straight. It is naturally extremelycurly so will ping back to its normal state as soon as I step in the shower encounter a smidgen of moisture but it’s been fun swishing it in the meantime!

mathanxiety · 03/06/2021 06:45

I had to leave the kitchen door propped slightly open because Dcat has decided to spend the night in the three season porch off the kitchen.

MissConductUS · 03/06/2021 16:03

Helena, it sounds like you had a fabulous visit.

Math, are you sending us some hot weather for the weekend? It's still too cool here overnight for the cats to want to be out on the deck for more than brief periods of time.

I have my appointment with the dishy new orthopedic surgeon tomorrow at 8:00 AM.

DH is just back from orthodontist with DD as had issue with part of brace falling out. All back now and Silkiecat didn't even notice that DH was gone.

Silkiecat's renal diet food is now ordered, Silkiecat likes that the vet tells us to get her extra food.
