I’m going to the pub with some of my team for the first time ever, and am wearing makeup for the first time in many months. I don’t drink though so will not be staying too long

mathanxiety · 03/06/2021 18:57

Sitting on my deck, lovely weather, might pot a tomato plant I bought.

The scrap metal guy just drove past in the alley. I have once again missed him. I have an old A/C unit that I want to get rid of and I have reason to believe he might take it.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 03/06/2021 18:57

Champagne I fulfilled my duty - it is lovely ice cream!

I am off work tomorrow and I will test my foot with an outing to the zoo and the aquarium - on my own (test, time slot and mask).

Silkiecats · 03/06/2021 19:07

We all had ice cream as quite hot here, the range was quite limited as everyone had same idea. I asked DH for a strawberry cornetto and he came back and said no strawberry cornettos but they had the supermarkets own version. He said he decided that was too risky and got the Flake one or a chocolate Magnum so I had a chocolate Magnum. Silkiecat was very cross with him, he was out of the house for 3 minutes and she was left with the 3 staff who aren't good enough. He has been told off, apologised and has cuddled Silkiecat for 1.5 hours so Silkiecat has forgiven him.

HelenaJustina · 03/06/2021 19:50

Have had such a nice day with my sister and cousin and their children. 9 DC ranging from 13yrs to 4months played happily in the woods all day. So nice to be nearly normal.

Champagneforeveryone · 03/06/2021 23:06

Bravo prok Grin

DH and I are busy Not Being In Morocco, which has led to DH (after a bout of "supporting local business") to declare that it is a good idea we take DDog2 on a bus tomorrow. DDog2 has many issues but is also prone to unwonted hysteria, and DH does not bring out the best in her.

DDog1 is marginally better behaved, but in the wake of his younger sisters lawless ways is likely to forget any manners he's ever been taught. I intend to pretend I'm a tourist and brazen it out in the fervent belief I will never see anyone again.

ZZTopGuitarSolo · 04/06/2021 02:48

@MissConductUS

Helena, it sounds like you had a fabulous visit.

Math, are you sending us some hot weather for the weekend? It's still too cool here overnight for the cats to want to be out on the deck for more than brief periods of time.

I have my appointment with the dishy new orthopedic surgeon tomorrow at 8:00 AM.

DH is bringing the hot weather with him wherever he goes. He was in Chicago for the weekend, got back yesterday, and it warms up here tomorrow for a sunny weekend of graduations.
mathanxiety · 04/06/2021 03:34

Please, please take the hot weather.
The next few days will al be over 90, with humidity rising each day. We won't see civilised weather again until Wednesday.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 04/06/2021 06:50

Again I showed that I earned my nickname "Muhme Rumpumpel" (the weather witch) - it's a standing joke in the office and at home that rain follows me.
Yes - it is raining and I planned an outing to the zoo. And I will go - hah!

Squirrel26 · 04/06/2021 11:59

My dog has never been on a bus, but he has been on a hovercraft. He was surprisingly well behaved (with a continuous supply of snacks). He’s also been on a miniature steam train. He wasn’t at all sure about that one. Grin

soddingkitten · 04/06/2021 12:29

We are nearly home (barring dreadful traffic) in the last 30 miles and hotly contesting who gets the first cuddle with Sodding. We have shaved ~3 hours off our outbound journey time by getting up stupidly early this morning to beat the traffic.

Silkiecats · 04/06/2021 13:54

Silkiecat has been on a normal steam train, she was a bit shocked at first then discovered if you climbed the walls then had a cat ledge above the seats perfect for spying on people, other people mistakingly thought it was a luggage rack. Someone saw her and said look those people are even more crazy than us they have bought a cat. Silkiecat hated being alone as a kitten so we took her with us.

MissConductUS · 04/06/2021 15:41

Sodding, I like to leave stupidly early too when I have a long drive, like taking DS to uni. If I'm on the road by 5:30 I can get up there and back the same day. And it's fun to be on the almost empty highways.

Silkie, you didn't have her in a carrier? I would have been worried about her running off and hiding.

I had a good meeting and exam with the new orthopedist this morning. He spent about half an hour with me. He thinks the surgery will be fairly minor but can't rule out needing to do some tendon repairs when he goes in arthroscopically, as the MRI doesn't show the same level of detail as the camera. He's optimistic as he did the test where he tried to push the leg down while I resisted, and I was able to push it back up quite strongly. If I had a tendon or ligament injury that would have been unlikely.

He was quite nice, and yes, really attractive and fit. We're going to try to do the surgery in early July, as DH should be driving by then. The best case is that I only need a cane stick to walk with for a week or so. If he has to cut and anchor the ligaments, it will be two to three months of restricted activity on crutches.

I brought in the recycling bin this morning and I noticed that the rose bush in my front garden has started blooming. I started that bush with a cutting from my mum's garden in 2003 and it's unstoppable.

Silkiecat was in a cat carrier in the car and until we got on the carriage but you get a compartment to yourself (seats about 6) on our steam trains often which has a door so we shut the door and just DH, cat and I. Silkiecat is almost always attached to us or no more than a meter away. She's not the bravest of cats. When we got her she was smaller than my hand, they said she was 8 weeks but I wonder if she was much younger. She purred so much when I brought her home the very first time, a tiny kitten with a massive loud purr.

Hope your operation goes well. I had a rugby doctor for one thing, he was very good looking but not gentle, told me I was amazing with pain, think he was used to handling big rugby players.

Sunbird24 · 04/06/2021 16:30

I’ve just booked my first haircut in 16 months, haven’t yet decided if I’m going back to the Bob I had before or keeping it long over summer so I can tie it up off my neck

Champagneforeveryone · 04/06/2021 17:37

DDog2 was exemplary, she's at home now with her smelling salts and a damp towel over her eyes.

DH and I are celebrating and have come "into town". We have had a meal at Wetherspoons (I am a fan of the cheap and fast option when drinking) and are out on the tiles. Unfortunately we are now so old that DH couldn't read the menu without his glasses, and we are both wondering how early it would be appropriate to go home to bed Grin

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 04/06/2021 19:23

Caught up with you all - Miss I hope your OP goes well.

Silkie I wanted to take silkie chicken fotos but they were not cooperating. But I got a foto of Mozarella providers Grin instead

My foot held up well, but is quite swollen now. While I was giving it some rest and quark, my GP called. I'll have my 1st vacc next week.

Yay for vaccine appointment @Prokupatuscrakedatus !

We spent the day with my brother, his wife and daughter. It rained most of the day at home but was sunny where we met them. Shattered now from all the fresh air and wondering how quickly I can harry the DC through the shower and have a nice cooling g&t.

Silkiecats · 05/06/2021 05:26

Lovely photos Prok especially the alpacas, DS loves alpacas as they are fluffy. Last summer we went to a place doing llama walks and they said to DS we have all llamas and 1 alpaca what would you prefer and he said alpaca. He told me they are much better than llamas.

Birds singing again, they sing all night as well here. Been raining a little bit.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 05/06/2021 08:46

Helena - Yes, I am glad it is happening at last.
Silkie - They were indeed really fluffy. One of my favourite animals (Poitous) has been moved from the Zoo to the Tierpark.
I caught morose pidgeon and his mate beakishly chomping down on my nasturtium leaves.
Lovely sunny day here and the rain has done the plants a lot of good, though we need lots of re-forestation to keep the water in the ground.

theDudesmummy · 05/06/2021 09:23

My parents both had their first vaccine yesterday (they are in a country which is behind Europe/US in vaccination so it is a relief). They had Pfizer and had no side effects at all. In dull but good news, my tomato plants are thriving but the mint is oddly unenthusiastic.

HildaTablet · 05/06/2021 09:42

Good news about your jab, Prok

It was rainy and dull all day yesterday but has cleared up today and the sun was out first thing. The tortoise was out of his bed and by the back door begging to go out into the garden. At this time of year his sole mission is to soak up as much sun as possible - he's basically just a mobile rechargeable battery.

When I looked out of the window yesterday there were two wild ducks sitting on the lawn. My heart leapt briefly (a bit too excitedly for the thread tbh) as for years we had a returning pair of ducks every spring/summer, but they stopped coming a couple of years ago. I realised these were a different pair because they waddled away when I went out with some food for them - our old faithfuls used to rush towards us quacking eagerly as soon as they saw us.

But the new pair came back in the evening, and then they were here just now. So perhaps they'll become regulars.

Champagneforeveryone · 05/06/2021 11:19

How lovely hilda, we have a wrens nest in the eves directly outside our bedroom window. Both DH and I are very protective of our young family Grin

DH and I went "out, out" yesterday, meaning I had to walk to fetch the car this morning. I had not done my hair so of course met my hairdresser, who eyed me with a look of grave disappointment.

I believe DH may be hungover. He insists that he is not, this is a fairly clear sign that he is Grin

Sunbird24 · 05/06/2021 13:32

I’m going to apologise in advance for next weekend’s weather as I just bought a big hanging chair for my garden and it’s being delivered in a few days

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 05/06/2021 13:38

sunbird so you are a Muhme, too. Work mates ask me to work a bit longer because they want to reach the underground without getting wet.
