We have almost all fruits as we also have a fruit cage, but the bushes outside the cage which need netting for the summer are the currants - black, white and red.

Not sure is I've been here before but I'm trying to chill more now, and it's lovely to hear of people's normal days.

We are going to have a bbq at the top of the garden for tea. Nothing grand, sausages onions and rolls using one of those little foil bbq coal boxes. Thinking of what we might like to do at the top of the garden to make it usable as it's the last place we get the sun.

aibutohavethisusername · 29/05/2021 16:34

I went swimming again Grin

HildaTablet · 29/05/2021 18:07

It's been sunny and quite warm today so I've had washing drying on the line, and Dh has strimmed the jungle lawn in preparation for actually mowing it tomorrow - it was too long to go straight in with the mower.

I also planted some climbing French bean seeds and finally potted on a scented geranium cutting which I was rooting in some water. It's been rooting for so long that it's now in full flower Blush

Tomorrow I must get my tomato plants into their growbags in the greenhouse, they're bursting out of their pots and looking a bit sickly.

soddingkitten · 29/05/2021 18:35

Lovely Neighbour has WhatsApped a pic of Sodding sunbathing on her patio with Shyboy, so he’s managing OK without us. 🙌

We did a moderately energetic walk today but are all feeling yesterday’s long drive and a night in an unfamiliar bed, so have kept it fairly low key. We’ve been chipping away at a 1,000 piece jigsaw puzzle on and off since late morning. And have discovered we’re all rubbish at jigsaw puzzles... 😄 Fortunately we have a week to finish it.

MissConductUS · 29/05/2021 18:43

@Kezzie200, I probably just recognized your handle from another thread we were both on. You have quite an impressive garden.

@aibutohavethisusername, well done!

I think I will watch an episode of Jamestown, my new favorite period drama and then have a nap. 😼

I will not - repeat NOT - turn the heating back on!

mathanxiety · 29/05/2021 20:24

Having a quiet day of rummaging through stuff in the kitchen pantry and a bathroom cupboard, and throwing out lots of old and out of date stuff.

DD3's arm is still so sore after her second moderna shot last weekend that she is lying on the couch whimpering. Sad

Silkiecats · 30/05/2021 04:18

Silkiecat caught a baby mouse and killed it and was very proud of herself, she sat by it and meowed very loudly so everyone could be proud of her. Some life in the 16 year old yet. She has also been walking along the piano keys playing 🎶.

I did some aerobics. Dh and dd went for a walk to the vineyard and then dd met up with friends and dh got more chicken 🐔 food.

soddingkitten · 30/05/2021 06:37

I am lying in my very cosy holiday cottage bed listening to glorious birdsong through the open Velux window.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 30/05/2021 07:40

sodding good for you!

soddingkitten · 30/05/2021 08:57

The sheep have started up now, though I’ve relocated to the sofa after a magnificent breakfast of Manx kippers, buttered toast and jam. The countryside sounds are soothing.

My dull news: I noticed earlier that I put my pyjama trousers on inside out when I went to bed last night.

Champagneforeveryone · 30/05/2021 10:07

Morning all, DH and I are at DM's. DS is in WhatsApp contact and reports the house is still standing, and DDogs and ChampagneCat are still alive.

We were horribly delayed on the way down as we witnessed a bad accident. I say we witnessed, but DH managed to miss the whole thing as he was busy observing cloud formations or whatever it was he was doing (he wasn't driving!) However once he noticed, he was out the car and in full rescue mode. For a man who is so utterly hopeless at daily life skills, I've always been amazed at how he copes in a crisis.

Thankfully everyone is alive and mostly in one piece. Now for the return journey, hopefully with less excitement.

Squirrel26 · 30/05/2021 11:12

I have lots of things to do, so I’m not sure why I’m sitting on the sofa eating cheese puffs. But I am.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 30/05/2021 11:48

Squirrel You are helping the cheese puffs (whatever they are) to fulfill their purpose in life. Admireable!

It is not raining and I can see the sun.

I baked a cake (walnut-apple-cinammon) for DH.

Sunbird24 · 30/05/2021 11:52

I think pyjama trousers are better inside out, saves you from the seams!

HelenaJustina · 30/05/2021 12:45

We went to a fab family party yesterday, but this means much domesticity today to catch up!

MissConductUS · 30/05/2021 15:03

Happy Sunday one and all. It's going to be cold and rainy here all day again. I am just back from the supermarket and there are four live lobsters in a heavy-duty plastic bag in the spare fridge in the garage, awaiting their fate tonight. I also picked up a lemon, some early season sweet corn (probably from Florida), and some yogurt I forgot to get yesterday.

Champagne, I have driven past plenty of accidents after they happened but only one time seen one occur. Many years ago I was on a highway and cars were queuing on an exit ramp that ran down to the intersecting road. So many cars joined the queue that the end was on the highway, blocking the right hand lane. Some idiot driver wasn't watching the road in front of them and rear ended the last car in the queue, pushing them forward into the car in front of them, who then hit the car in front of them. At that point, I was well past the exit lane and could no longer see what was happening.

I'm quite enjoying Jamestown. If you haven't seen it, it's about what happens when women first join the English colony at Jamestown, as seen from the perspective of three of the women. One of them is posh, beautiful, and cunning, one is a farm girl and the other is a thief who becomes a tavern maid. It's interesting that the setting is American but everything else is English. They built a fabulous set of historically accurate buildings for it all to take place in.

DH is having a lie-in, DS is up and in his man cave and I'm about to do some kitchen chores.

Still no rain. But from an agricultural point of view, this wet May has been a blessing.
I tried going down the stairs barefoot, to see how my toes behave after the last physio appt. It went fine, I am glad to say.

Silkiecats · 30/05/2021 16:30

Just had Sunday lunch and put the sheets on to wash. Had vanilla and chocolate ice cream with cream and sprinkles, was like being 5 again. Hot here today, well by English standards, low 20s.

theDudesmummy · 30/05/2021 16:43

I have found there seems to be no specific word for your half-sibling's half-sibling. It is DS's birthday today and he is having a Zoom party with his half-sisters (my stepdaughters) and their other step-siblings (their mother's other two children).

theDudesmummy · 30/05/2021 16:44

Sorry NOT their stepsiblings, their half-siblings.

theDudesmummy · 30/05/2021 16:47

Hot in Ireland too today. DH has made some cheese.

MissConductUS · 30/05/2021 17:00

It's 10 degree C and raining, it feel like early March, not the end of May. This does not feel like the unofficial start of summer, but the rain is good for the garden and I don't have to water the plants on the deck.

I've just reconciled my checking account in Quicken. There was a $25 direct deposit from my dental insurance I wasn't expecting.

DH is up, DS is puttering about trying to decide what he wants for lunch. I have some ironing to catch up on.

I'm watching Mare of Easttown. Not saying it's depressing but I'm 3 episodes in and no one has smiled once.

Pouring here. We walked the dog in the rain and now we're doing feeling very righteous about doing nothing else productive today.

ZZTopGuitarSolo · 30/05/2021 20:30

Oh I went shopping with no mask on, and DD worked a shift with no mask on. First time she's ever seen what her colleagues actually look like.
