It was bloody amazing! Simple, full of laughter and love. Little one was so so good, he was an absolute treasure throughout the day (although he did end up front and centre with us during the service ). I can't believe how quickly the day has gone.

Lovely

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 24/05/2021 01:40

ZZTopGuitarSolo - so puffball is the word I need when a 'Löwenzahn' turns into a 'Pusteblume'. Good to know!

Silkiecats · 24/05/2021 02:33

Its 2.30am and Silkiecat just woke up and started crying. DH has gone down saying I am coming my poppet. She is quiet now he has arrived.

HelenaJustina · 24/05/2021 06:19

DC4’s birthday today so am up early to get everything ready and not be late for work please oh please let it not rain today, just one day of dry would be so lovely.

Champagneforeveryone · 24/05/2021 07:15

Rain Hmm

Notthissticky · 24/05/2021 07:41

Another 5.15am start for DS1, but at least he seems happy (could've done with that at the weekend, not on a nursery day, but hey ho!) DH thinks he might be nighttime potty training, so I'm going to try to and listen to the chapter on nighttime training in our potty training book today. DS has just spent about 15 minutes climbing in and out of his laundry basket. At one point DH lifted it up and there were some limbs visible and hysterical laughter, it was like something from a cartoon.

Out of nowhere my section scar has started hurting again. It's quite an unpleasant, smarting pain. I have started to do some very moderate exercise in the form of brisk walking, I wonder if that's what's caused it.

Forecast here for today is rain, followed by hail, followed by thunderHmm

@Silkiecats what's the idea behind putting mice in the wheelie bin?

HildaTablet · 24/05/2021 08:18

It's sunny and dry.

Fingers crossed 🤞

(Spoiler alert: the weather forecast is for rain later)

sueelleker · 24/05/2021 08:56

My birthday too! Joint happy birthdays to us. @spudlet; it wasn't a miniature horse being used as a service animal, was it?
Prokupatuscrakedatus · 24/05/2021 10:04

Sun is shining but probably not for long.

I will now continue with that invoice.

We (that is properly only I) had some sad news today, an elderly aunt died - not unexpectedly, not unprepared and not untimely, but before we were allowed to meet as a family again. Very few of the generation above me left now.

Nydj · 24/05/2021 10:56

I’m sorry for your loss @Prokupatuscrakedatus.

Happy birthday to @sueelleker and mini @HelenaJustina.

Sunshine and showers here so far today.

HildaTablet · 24/05/2021 11:17

Many happy returns to the birthday boys and girls.

I went out to get a coffee. Guess what - it rained and I got soaked Hmm

Came home and fed the hen blackbird who has now muscled in on the robins' feeding routine, and is so semi-tame that she follows me round the garden and pops up by the back door peering in through the glass if I'm not quick enough with the suet pellets.

HildaTablet · 24/05/2021 11:21

I'm sorry @Prokupatuscrakedatus - I failed to read your post properly. My commiserations to you. It's very hard to lose our older family members and doubly so in this awful time when we can't be together Flowers

Champagneforeveryone · 24/05/2021 11:29

Sorry to hear your news prok Flowers

We (that is DH and I) are cleaning the house. Or more accurately, I am cleaning the house while DH polishes the compost bin, checks the hanging basket brackets are tight (they are) and contemplates whether we need a new filter cartridge in the filter (we don't)

This is done to the full melodic range of sighs and puffs - these are fine though as apparently they come under the heading of "breathing" Hmm

HelenaJustina · 24/05/2021 12:01

Sorry for your loss @Prokupatuscrakedatus so hard when we can’t grieve or celebrate a life in the way we would wish to.

Happy Birthday @sueelleker! Hope your birthday contains nearly as much playmobil and pony paraphernalia as DC4!

theDudesmummy · 24/05/2021 12:10

Sorry to hear about your aunt.

I got bitten by midges while sitting outside yesterday evening. They only bite me, not DH or DS. We have a midge-killing machine which gets literally thousands of them and decreases my suffering, but it doesn't get them all.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 24/05/2021 14:13

Thank you all for your kind thoughts!

Midges (Mücken), one should think, that - wet and windy as it is everywhere - those creatures would stay home and polish their wings and do crafts. But no - they come and bite me (never DH).

theDudesmummy · 24/05/2021 15:05

There was a brief respite from the rain and the wind here yesterday evening, and we have very long light evenings in the summer because so far west, so sat outside for a while drinking wine. Didn't think to put on anti-midge spray until it was too late.

Silkiecats · 24/05/2021 17:23

Sorry to hear about your loss Prok

Happy birthday Sue and to mini4Helena

Have finally heard from chicken swing customer service, they are sending another one should be here on Wednesday via DHL and think Post Office lost first.

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 24/05/2021 17:50

it's rained 4 times today so far.
DS6 and I spent 1.5 hours in the hot tub (it has a roof cover type thing)and it was so nice listening to the drumming above our heads.
I'm now cooking dinner still wrapped in my towel😁
(I'm getting cold but cooking tomorrow's food as well so will have shower after it's done)

MissConductUS · 24/05/2021 18:44

I'm very sorry for your loss, Prok.

ZZtop, a leafblower will be much quicker. DH just did our garage and driveway with one to try to minimize the amount of pollen coming into the house.

I have solved my British TV obsession desire for the moment, without Britbox. We have public television in the US. It's called PBS, for public broadcasting system. They are on the air in most major cities, including NYC. Much of their programming is licensed from the Beeb and other producers in the UK. I can add streaming access to the whole library for $6 per month on my Amazon prime account. Here is some of what's included:

Masterpiece 50

I was sold when I saw What Happened the Durrells Did Next. I had no idea they were a real, let alone famous, British family. I'm now watching All Creatures Great and Small, partly because I'm curious about Yorkshire. There is currently a hilarious thread on the Coronavirus board about the Yorkshire Varient, complete with pictures of the virus wearing a plaid, flat cap.

DH had a visit from his physical therapist today. The temps are back down but are headed higher later this week. And my nephew's son weighed 8 pounds, 2 ounces and was 20 inches tall. So rather a high baby. And his mum was only in labor for 2.5 hours, lucky woman.

@Prokupatuscrakedatus I’m sorry for your loss. It’s all the harder when you can’t be together and do all the things that humans do when they lose someone special. Flowers

@sueelleker Nope, not a service animal... it was a little pony being taken on a local train service, although having googled it I don’t think they actually let him on board! Can’t remember the outcome, I’m not sure much came of it from our point of view.

Spudlet · 24/05/2021 19:31

@MissConductUS You must read the books All Creatures Great and Small were based on! They’re very funny and very touching. There’s a whole series of them.

MissConductUS · 24/05/2021 20:01

Spudlet, but watching the videos I am treated to the adorable Callum Woodhouse, who was one of my favorite actors in The Durrells. Grin

DoctorTwo · 24/05/2021 20:15

@MissConductUS my recommedation for British TV is Giri/Haji. If you search MN there was a thread about it. It was brilliantly done.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 24/05/2021 20:19

All Creatures - I've got the books somewhere, too.

DH has repotted the Habaneros and they are now officially 'out'.
