Tomorrow I will be submitting my masters thesis. 6 years as a single mother of 3, eldest DS has asd, hearing and visual impairment. I have done a foundation degree, started my BA and was asked to transfer to an integrated masters, asked I tells you. And tomorrow, after a year of pandemic, MH struggles and homeschooling I get to submit my masters thesis Grin

What is your big brag?

I don’t have one but wanted to congratulate you on yours - an amazing achievement, you should be very proud!

FetchezLaVache · 13/05/2021 19:34

I saw your title and came on to say that my son, who has asd, was rummaging around in the front garden earlier with the door open, looking for moss so we could put it under the microscope to look for tardigrades, when his former TA happened to park outside the house. He told her what he was doing and why, the living room was spotless, I was wearing an apron from cooking a wholesome dinner, I didn't have a wine glass in my hand and DS was not watching anything inane and/or repetitive on YouTube. Even the cat turned up on cue and was pleasant; but I'll admit it doesn't hold a candle to yours! That's a bloody brilliant achievement and well worth a brag. I bow down before you!

Zerrin13 · 13/05/2021 19:41

I don't have one in particular but huge congratulations to you. What you have achieved is truly amazing.

Wow - well done to you!

Mine's a bit rubbish in comparison - this year, for the 7th year in a row I was the top earner in fees in my team - beat my nearest competitor by 15%...

..... not bad for someone who left school at 16.... knocked up!!!

SunshineCake · 13/05/2021 19:45

Very happy for you @FetchezLaVache!

Cheeseycheeseycheesecheese · 13/05/2021 19:45

I think those are two massive achievements worthy of bragging both @Biblionerd and @FetchezLaVache congratulations

Mines small, my temp contract has been extended, which means I've got a further 3 months of employment to look forward to. Hopefully the next extention will be permanency.

EssentialHummus · 13/05/2021 19:48

Well done OP, that's absolutely brilliant! Flowers

CatFaceCats · 13/05/2021 19:49

I ended my relationship last March.
Now, me and my kids are living in a lovely house and I’m happy.
But the thing I’m most proud of, is finding a job a few months ago after 10 years of being a SAHM. I’m extra proud that even though it’s entry level, there is so much scope for me to learn and develop. I actually love it!

Donotgogentle · 13/05/2021 19:51

Star brag away all of you, these are real achievements.

ShipshapeShore · 13/05/2021 19:53

I'm still really proud of my 1st class honours degree from the OU. My DC like a Little Mix song that has a line "I don't have any first degree, but I know what he does to me" (or something very similar) and I always smile and think "I do, I do, I have one!" 😂

alfafabean · 13/05/2021 19:58

I have a distinction at masters level in a VERY niche subject. I gained it 15 years ago and I've never managed any other similar level in academia since. But I am still super proud of myself about it, it's always a talking point at interviews and gives me a lot of credibility in my field. Well done you for submitting your thesis under such testing conditions!

MayIDestroyYou · 13/05/2021 20:06

I too! Bet mine's more niche than yours. Grin

Congratulations OP, that's a major achievement. Cannot imagine how stressful the last few weeks must have been for you.

I have something rather amazing happening in connection with my MA subject - but I'm afraid of jinxing it if I share.

TheMotherlode · 13/05/2021 20:14

Congratulations OP, that’s an amazing achievement. You should rightly be very proud.

I finished my masters a couple of years ago (a couple of weeks before giving birth to DD1) with a distinction and a special award for top performance on the course.

Being at the graduation ceremony holding my certificate and my baby, I’ve never been so proud of myself and completely made up for the 2:2 in my BSc 20 years earlier that I’d always regretted.

Biblionerd · 13/05/2021 20:20

@FetchezLaVache I bow right down to you, that was a perfect storm of brilliance!!!

Well, I was going to say, I've lost half a stone, but that sounds really trivial by comparison Grin

Biblionerd · 13/05/2021 20:23

LOVING the academic pride in show here!! LOVING the self pride on here too! We work so bloody hard to achieve these things, I don't want to be humble today Grin

Thelikelylass · 13/05/2021 20:26

You are all quite, quite marvellous - love hearing about women succeeding along with all the other shit they have to do in life too.
My achievements tonight? finishing the dregs of not one, but TWO bottles of wine, therefore freeing up fridge space for even more wine tomorrow (which of course I shall use to rain a glass to you and your academic achievements lovely OP)
