Tomorrow I will be submitting my masters thesis. 6 years as a single mother of 3, eldest DS has asd, hearing and visual impairment. I have done a foundation degree, started my BA and was asked to transfer to an integrated masters, asked I tells you. And tomorrow, after a year of pandemic, MH struggles and homeschooling I get to submit my masters thesis Grin

What is your big brag?

@Thelikelylass

You are all quite, quite marvellous - love hearing about women succeeding along with all the other shit they have to do in life too. My achievements tonight? finishing the dregs of not one, but TWO bottles of wine, therefore freeing up fridge space for even more wine tomorrow (which of course I shall use to rain a glass to you and your academic achievements lovely OP)
Ha! I'm having a (calorie counted) Gin as we speak.

Thank you op! I have been meaning to lose weight for absolutely ages and only getting round to it now. If I'd done a masters, I think I'd be a candidate for 600lb life by now.

Look at you saving fridge space, no wastage AND making future plans. I shall be raising a glass tomorrow night too!

Well fucking done.
That is the absolute dream 😀 I hope it brings you great things.

I am in my final year of a BEng had two babies, a fucking pandemic and bought a house, planned a wedding cancelled thanks to covid and now in my final bloody year I am working 0.8FTE studying 0.75FTE and pregnant and trying to maintain some sort of decent parenting of DS1, still maintaining a 85% average 🥲.

I cannot wait to graduate in the autumn and shake these titties into an MSc.

belle40 · 13/05/2021 20:36

Congratulations OP! Wine

Biblionerd · 13/05/2021 20:36

@alittlequinnie

Wow - well done to you!

Mine's a bit rubbish in comparison - this year, for the 7th year in a row I was the top earner in fees in my team - beat my nearest competitor by 15%...

..... not bad for someone who left school at 16.... knocked up!!!

Look at Quinnie fly!! 7 years as top earner, fluff me lady, thats fabulous going!!

I did a masters over two years and gave birth and exclusively breastfed a baby in each of those years.
I got a merit too 😊

Biblionerd · 13/05/2021 20:47

@Cheeseycheeseycheesecheese

I think those are two massive achievements worthy of bragging both *@Biblionerd and @FetchezLaVache* congratulations

Mines small, my temp contract has been extended, which means I've got a further 3 months of employment to look forward to. Hopefully the next extention will be permanency.

Ooh nearly missed this, that's fantastic, crossing everything for the permanent role, they obviously think you're fab to extend!

Oh I’m loving all these. The amazing academic achievements, the moving new life chapter of happy singledom, the inspirational weight loss, the heart warming successful bed times!
Well done everyone xx

Crocidura · 13/05/2021 20:51

Mine is not as glamorous as these amazing academic achievements but I am pleased nonetheless, have smoked for 30 years, and have just given up. 3 days, 6 hours and 50 minutes without a cigarette Smile

@HerRoyalRisesAgain

Well done everyone!

My brag is that I have binge eating disorder and I'm 23 days without a binge Grin

Well bloody done. I salute and sympathise! I have a history of bingeing and being very overweight. I'm 11 days into a new regime and have already shed 3kgs just be controlling my portions, not eating crap and cutting out booze completely.

The 'secret'? Well, there isn't one. I've just felt something very fundamental 'click' as regards calorie intake. I've been using the Nutracheck app to understand the calorific value of absolutely every morsel that goes into my mouth - for me, it's a revelation.

Nobbynobbsknob · 13/05/2021 21:12

This is a perfect thread for me this week.
2.5 years after setting up my business I'm fully booked for the first time.
It's the end of a really shit 6 years (divorce, no money, single mum etc etc) with lots of drama and truly awful things happening.

I absolutely LOVE what I do and am really good at it. Loads of wonderful feedback and I've made it!
I'm so proud of myself. The kids and even exh are proud of me and very supportive.

Life is happy, stable and full of good friends. I'm financially independent and off benefits. This week is the final confirmation that I've found my direction.

The highs are equal to the lows and I (and the kids and even exh) deserve them.

Ooohstickyou · 13/05/2021 21:18

Congratulations OP and everyone else! Great thread to read.

Immunetypegoblin · 13/05/2021 21:23

God, I feel insecure about my BSc and PhD which I completed pre-children now Grin you lot are seriously impressive!

I did get a really good performance review this week which I'm very pleased with though - apart from being told to have more faith in myself, it was a clean sweep of praise Smile I'm quite chuffed!

Latinorapida · 13/05/2021 21:24

Managed to compete my final year of uni with a newborn. Handed my dissertation in the day he turned 8 months! Oh and he is a vey high needs baby who ONLY contact naps!

WingingIt101 · 13/05/2021 21:29

Bloody hell what a lovely thread! May I join in?

I have always wanted my own business but never been brave enough. I had my first baby 4 days into lockdown one and returned to work, full time 6 weeks ago, in a brand new company having been headhunted on mat leave.
So now I’m in a new job with better benefits.... but what about that niggling dream of a business? Well... on a whim, in my last month of mat leave I saw a franchise opportunity come up for an events business, I applied thinking it would come to nothing.... I got it. I’m expecting my contract in the next week. So in the last ten weeks I’ve transitioned my little lockdown love into full time nursery, started a new job, set up my own limited company and secured a franchise in an area I would give my last bottle of Sauvignon blanc to do!

I’m shattered but a teeny bit proud of myself too!

SleepingStandingUp · 13/05/2021 21:30

And here I was just excited all my kids are in bed asleep and the 17 mo counted to 3 for the HV

BTV2000 · 13/05/2021 21:30

I'm back at work, back in a career that I had left due to mental health breakdown, at an organisation I never thought I'd work in again and feeling amazing. Surrounded by supportive women and looking after patients again, doing what I was born to do.

Congratulations on your massive achievement 🌟🌟
