As a teenager I like listening to a certain rock band.
Just found their album on iTunes, downloaded and listened.
I was shocked. One of the songs - sung by grown men - ' she's a 13 yr tease , with bleach blonde hair. Let me eat your cookies , let me see your cookies '
Sat in the bath gob smacked. When I was 15 , this never made me question.

Has anyone else come across something that as a younger person it never crossed your mind but now it's a wtf moment

The film Almost Famous - 14/15 year old groupies with men in their 30s at least.

I know it's based loosely on reality but when I watched it years ago the age difference didn't really jump out at me, but rewatching it recently I was horrified.

A pupil having an affair with the PE teacher. We knew it was wrong (he was asked to resign) but the consensus was she was sixth form, he was young (and hot) so it was ok.

Looking back, it was grooming. He taught her for several years. And was probably older than we thought.

In one of the short clips a woman was drowning in a pool, rescued by a life guard who carried her into the changing rooms and we heard her screaming. He ran out, looked around comically to make sure nobody was around then back in to carry on the oh so funny raping of her

The Tom Hanks films Big is really creepy because a little boy (in a mans body) has sex with an adult woman.

Even things like Star Trek TNG, DS9 and Voyager which at the time I thought were awesomely progressive with female captains, black captains, gay characters - all make me squirm rewatching.

Think it was just somehow seen as the norm back then .

Weirdly a lot of Busted songs - what I go to school for we all thought was really funny, but I find it creepy now. Also psycho girl where they essentially go on about their girlfriend over reacting about everything and hysterical but they put up with her. If you hate her that much do her a favour and leave. Calling women/exes psychos is such a red flag for me.

I think a lot of sings from the past were pretty dubious

Went to a convent school in the 50s. We donated 6d every week towards buying a black baby that supposedly lived in their mission somewhere in Africa and when our card was full (5 shillings I think), we were given a picture of our baby and got to name him/her. I think the money really went on gin. What a truly dreadful enterprise and we never questioned it 😱

Loved that film as a kid but as an adult I realised how toxic and immature Robin Williams was. He completely ignored the court order and did what he wanted to without thinking properly of the effect it would have on his children

I used to sleep over a friend's house regularly on a Saturday when I was 11/12, there would be 3 of us who would go.

Her mum used to cook us tea, get us settled with our sleeping bags and snacks etc and head out to town at 8.30, dressed up to the nines, going clubbing.

She'd usually get back around 3am, very obviously giggly and worse for wear. Then she'd sit with us for a bit and chat about her night before heading to bed. My friend would take her a cup of tea in the morning whilst her mum slept off her hangover. Her mum would make sure there was bacon and eggs there so we could make ourselves a fry up in the morning.

I used to think my friend was so lucky to have such a young, cool mum. She was about 30, my parents were late 40's and much more straight laced. And unaware of what happened at friends house!

I'd be totally horrified now if my 11 year old had this at a friend's house!

I saw this clip on one of those “it could only happen in the 60s/70s” type shows and was horrified. They showed the clip to current TV personalities to see their reaction and they were all horrified too.

There was also a clip from a 60s variety style show, with singing and dancing girls in little outfits. One comes out and starts singing a song, then a few lines in starts dropping the N word in the song. This was apparently from a Saturday night prime time family show.

The film cruel intentions. Loved it back in the day but rewatched it as an adult and it’s pretty bad - all that taking the 14 year olds virginity and using each other and sexual bets etc - yuck.

One of my school friends married the biology teacher a couple of years after leaving school. I went to their wedding. they must have been dating when she was around 17 and in the sixth form. No -one thought anything of it back then ( late eighties) but now he would probably be sacked I guess.

Does you mother know that you're out for me too. Way too much. normalising the sexualisation of teenagers.
