Something like MN but not MN

I have really enjoyed being on MN but recently getting a bit fed up of some of it. Is there a similar forum? Not netmums!

It's the constant trans bashing and a sort of vibe of anti left that seems to be trickling through. Also I find that most people are middle class and wealthy, I'd like a forum that's a bit more diverse.

OP posts:

@DifficultPifcultLemonDifficult you seem to be labouring under the misapprehension that sex-based feminism is the same thing as anti-trans sentiment.

It isn’t.

TheQueef · 27/04/2021 09:50

What about that mums chat?
Where do you stand on MM?

DifficultPifcultLemonDifficult · 27/04/2021 09:51

Would you be ok with your rights being eroded for a different protected class?

This isn't really a thread for that, I'm sure you'll get my opinion if you ever find me on a trans thread though.

Mysterian · 27/04/2021 09:54

And trans was mentioned so now the thread is only about that and everybody else leaves apart from the anti-trans people who go on about it for the next 10 pages.

TroysMammy · 27/04/2021 09:55

I hide categories I'm not interested in so I only see in Active what I am.

I'm really not Confused op is right, there is lots of threads started on here that are very anti trans. They are mostly taken down quickly. However I see the people who start those threads on other trans thread all the time just keeping within the guidelines, but due to previous threads I know that what they are expressing is anti trans, as they already showed that was their stance.

Sparklingbrook · 27/04/2021 09:58

I never see a trans thread any more. I have loads of topics hidden, must be the right ones.

RickiTarr · 27/04/2021 09:59

So they break talk guidelines and are deleted promptly and most of us don’t see them. 🤷🏻‍♀️

However I see the people who start those threads on other trans thread all the time just keeping within the guidelines,

That seems highly unlikely. Repeat offenders get banned. Banned MNers are all over FB and Reddit, complaining about it. More likely the trolls are using usernames very similar to regular MNers’ names. On purpose. To give you the false impression you’ve keenly seized.

JackieLavertysWeirdVoice · 27/04/2021 10:02

I hear Reddit is lovely, and Twitter quite delightfully tolerant of different viewpoints.

DifficultPifcultLemonDifficult · 27/04/2021 10:02

🤣🤣🤣 OK, if you say so. I'm definitely the naive one here 🤣

I'm not going to derail the ops thread anymore, thanks for the laughs though.

You really should stay on those threads at least to report the anti-trans posts. Otherwise you’re just burying your head in the sand about something you’ve said you see as a problem, which seems an odd thing to do.

You can't see it happening, and I have no actual evidence, but it's definitely happening.

How convenient.

I think Mumsnet is more diverse than it looks at first glance.

Yes there's always been a bit of weird class obsession and of course the 'How much do you earn?' threads but I think they probably just stand out more due to being a bit crass.

Also more people seem to call out the spelling and grammar wankers nowadays, which is great as it's bound to encourage more people to post.

Almost as if it was planned that way...

I'm sure MN will have some sort of info on how many are deleted if you really wish to know.

Reddit r/askWomenOver30?

I’m on both that and mumsnet as they don’t have the useful parenting stuff that’s geared to the UK.

TheQueef · 27/04/2021 10:15

Where is the OP?
Are any of these suggestions useful?

I hope this wasn't a sham thread just to talk about trans Hmm

Theobear88 · 27/04/2021 10:17

Not sure this is quite the right audience

No, it couldn’t possibly be. That would never happen....

Well you’re the one who recommended the absolute swamp to OP. 🙄
ConfusedAdultFemale · 27/04/2021 10:21

I thought there was a flouncers corner?

TheQueef · 27/04/2021 10:22

Blush oops.
Sorry about that I just heard rumours it was where the MM fans hung out.

TruelyWonder · 27/04/2021 10:35

I think you are just clicking on the wrong type of threads. If you don't want to hear peoples views on some politically diverse subjects just avoid political and feminist threads. Stick to parenting, gardening and whatever 🤷‍♀️

Other than the before mentioned Money Saving Expert site there isn't anywhere else similar. Most sites are much more political or wacky.
