So Johnson and Cummings are at each other’s throats. Anyone else think that it’s karma for them being such self serving, conniving, utter shit weasels last year? It’s so fitting that they are self destructing their own abominable empire.

United they stood, divided they fall.

Much as I dislike Boris I utterly loathe Cummings. He’s an arrogant and deeply unpleasant individual. I completely believe he’s capable of these leaks.

Elieza · 23/04/2021 20:12

Loving the title to this thread Grin

I don’t have anything constructive to add other than both are idiots and what goes around comes around...

LizzieSiddal · 23/04/2021 21:19

I laughed and laughed when I saw this on the news.
It would be poetic justice if they both ended up out of No 10.

We already know they are both liars (Johnson sacked twice, Brexit campaign etc etc and Cummings -Brexit & Barnard Castle). Cannot wait to see the back of both of them.

murbblurb · 23/04/2021 21:38

Johnson is at least elected to his position. And now we know why it took so long to sack Cummings.

Shame on the both of them.

bubblebubblebubbletrouble · 23/04/2021 21:45

I'm not 100% sure either of them would know the truth if it bonked them over the head but it's great distraction from the content of the leak.
I worry they are both pawns in the Gove/Murdoch masterplan which is why the former had been so low profile over the past few weeks til he popped up in Israel.
I guess time will tell.

DuchessOfBuggerAll · 23/04/2021 21:54

I can't bloody stand either of them - perhaps Cummings is worse than Johnson but not by much. I think this is a lesson for Johnson about the wisdom of lying down with dogs and then finding yourself in shit with fleas.

lljkk · 23/04/2021 22:59

I can't believe DC would seriously maul the (Tory politician) hand that feeds him. It's a spat but won't go further.

paralysedbyinertia · 23/04/2021 23:19

Well, I'm not sure that DC's revelations will cause much damage to Johnson. People already knew that he was dishonest,, incompetent and lacking in integrity before they elected him, and they didn't seem to care. The fact that his old mate Dominic Cummings no longer seems to like him is hardly going to put people off - nobody can stand Cummings in any case.

Justbetweenus · 23/04/2021 23:26

I utterly loathe Cummings. He’s an arrogant and deeply unpleasant individual. I completely believe he’s capable of these leaks. I think that’s exactly what the spin doctors want - dislike of Cummings outweighing distaste of Tory sleaze, so as with levery other ‘scandal’ it blows over.

LolaSmiles · 23/04/2021 23:31

It will be interesting to see what information is released to the press quietly whilst the front pages focus on this spat.
Things like this always make me wonder what they're trying to divert our attention away from.

Kendodd · 23/04/2021 23:31

I agree.
People know what Johnson's like, this won't touch him. For some reason the voters think a despicable, lazy, misogynist, liar like Johnson is who we want leading the country and representating us on the international stage. The man doesn't even have the decency and respect for the public to brush his hair and look tidy.

Good question. What are they trying to cover up, I wonder?
baroqueandblue · 24/04/2021 00:12

Yes, typical smoke and mirrors. DC rocking the naff old queen look with his russet pulley draped over his shoulders. Pure theatre, of the dullest sort. It's scripted, and they're all in it together to keep us catharting while they sow malevolence elsewhere that will ruin lives. That's what they do, and the relevant portion of the electorate arm them. Business as usual 🤷

Sadly, this. As I saw on my FB feed a couple of days ago, why did Diana Abbott downing a mojito on a train attract more media attention than the fetid, stinking, sleazy quagmire of all this? (Black/woman, possibly)...

Because 'we' don't care. We really don't. Deep down, we all admire the third world oligarch who packs his government with his family. We go 'good on 'im , I'd do the same'.

The a) utter lack of interest in the proroguing of parliament, and b) the actual support for it told me all I needed to know.

I loathe, loathe, loathe Gove with every fibre in my body. But....In charge of education, as he was a thousand years ago (memories are short) he introduced the new standards in GCSE, untested, unpiloted, with a complete disregard towards educationalists et al.

OK, in fact, our cohort of kids actually generally did more than okay out of it, grade-wise...as there might have been a riot if they hadn't. Last year's exam debacle could've taken note and avoided that -um- debacle, had they done 'a Gove' and upended the apple cart, yet give the middle class parents the kids good grades.

But- here's the thing. Our education system isn't fit for purpose. A big fat hole in it is Critical Thinking Skills. We have low expectations of even the basics being taught. We don't value education, cos that's for snobs, innit? Anyone with2 O levels can go to Uni and get a degree and a £40k debt they'll never repay And, like Gove himself said, we've had enough of experts. Apparently.

So here we are. The Cummings thing won't make the slightest dent in 80-85% of the population's conscience. Nor will Greenshill. Nor will the PPE procurement sleaze. Or the Dyson tax assurances.

No one cares.

Unless it's football.

Whereisthewarmth · 24/04/2021 00:45

Oh gosh...

This is shocking, everyone else in politics are so close and loyal, like sturgeon and salmon...

Hand in glove.. What happened here?
It's shocking... This is politics not a nunnery...

Miljea · 24/04/2021 00:52

This is politics like a 1970s African Dictatorship.

We should hold our government to considerably higher standards.

baroqueandblue · 24/04/2021 01:15

Unless it's football.

We will fight them on the terraces... and football fans know the Tory tactics of old, better than most.

Until they forget in the name of the 'beautiful game' Hmm

I think it's just politics. Can't think of a country that's run any different.

That’s a bit unfair on 1970s African dictatorships.

we should hold our government to higher standards, but as a PP has said we elected this government in the full knowledge of how dishonest and lacking in integrity they were. Arguabley they were voted in because they have lower standards.

Topseyt · 24/04/2021 02:13

I'm enjoying the self-destruct spectacle of it.

Neither Bojo nor Cummings have an ounce of integrity between the pair of them.

Hilarious isn't it? Hmm

Just shows they know exactly what they're doing.

I agree with everything Miljea said.

MotherOfGodWeeFella · 24/04/2021 07:37

I didn't vote for them, but we're stuck with them for now. Clearly Cummings was invited to resign and his bitterness has been simmering away. A thoroughly unlikeable man. Boris is a lazy, thoroughly unlikeable man. I have no idea what the answer is though to sort out this mess.
