So Johnson and Cummings are at each other’s throats. Anyone else think that it’s karma for them being such self serving, conniving, utter shit weasels last year? It’s so fitting that they are self destructing their own abominable empire.

United they stood, divided they fall.

I think there is more to come from DC and that Gove is lining himself up. However I think he has misjudged how unpopular he is.

LizzieSiddal · 25/04/2021 13:32

I agree re Gove being lined up. Cummings is his right hand man.

If Johnson does go we will have to hope conservative membership choose someone else. Sunack seems popular, I had higher hopes for him until his stupid “eat out to help out” scheme.

VaVaGloom · 25/04/2021 13:34

@IpanemaChic who Gove or Cummings? I don’t think either would win any popularity contests? Johnson on the other hand is popular (despite the public knowing his track history of work related and personal dishonesty).

VaVaGloom · 25/04/2021 13:38

@LizzieSiddal if eat out to help out I’d a sign of his policies ‘Rishi fixed it’ won’t be a vast improvement.

Despite being hated during his period as health secretary Jeremy Hunt seemed to talk some sense regarding pandemic handling.

I swear you will all know my real name, read it in headlines, if The Goviot gets so much as a sniff of PM.

Odious little man who has somehow managed to make himself sound reasonable during Covid (thaks MAcron, UvdL). We CANNOT forget what a completely obnoxious, back stabbing, clueless toad he is!

CuriousaboutSamphire · 25/04/2021 13:53

Is Cummings attached to The Goviot?

Even more reason not to believe a word he says about Johnson then! The Goviot has form for shitting on Johnson for years. He seemed to think nobody would notice of he made public alliances and broke them equally publicly.

noblegiraffe · 25/04/2021 14:00

Cummings got Gove to implement all Cummings' education policies. When Gove was Ed Sec, Cummings was his political advisor.

Remember Gove, Cummings and Johnson were the Brexit campaign group. Cummings going back to Gove now he can't use Johnson anymore makes sense.

CuriousaboutSamphire · 25/04/2021 14:03

Oh of course. I did know that! Doh!

Jeez, you'd think, as an ex teacher, I'd remember who destroyed the last of the common sense in education!

Poisonous gobshites, the lot of them!

luckylavender · 25/04/2021 14:37

@lljkk - I definitely think he would. He's not at No 10 anymore & he's a maverick who has been clear that he has no political affiliation. He knows where all the bodies are buried & he has nothing to lose.

IpanemaChic · 25/04/2021 14:38

VaVaGloom Gove.

Buffoon Boris was used as the face of ‘Get Brexit Done’ because Gove would have been too unpalatable.

derxa · 25/04/2021 14:48

I'm more concerned about Kwasi Kwarteng saying that we should all go vegan and Liz Truss's Australia deal. I couldn't give a fuck about who pays for Boris's curtains. It's not his house.

paralysedbyinertia · 25/04/2021 15:49

@BlueTiles

Also disappointed there isn't a single thread I can see about India, though I understand it is too much to read for many.
In fairness, I have seen at least 4 threads about India, and contributed to two. So there are people who are interested.
jgw1 · 25/04/2021 16:11

What I don't understand is how a few new curtains and a lick of paint can cost so much? I think we should feel very sorry for Johnson, someone has clearly seen him for the mug he is and grossly inflated the cost.

longwayoff · 25/04/2021 16:15

My sides ache from laughing. Choose the liar you prefer.

Even remembering security issues etc...

*No one cares.

Unless it's football.*

How fucking sad and depressingly true.

Horacetheexplorer · 25/04/2021 17:10

Never attribute to personal animosity what can be easily explained by benefits in creating a huge distraction

I would normally agree with this - and who knows what secrets are lurking - but in this instance there is enormous personal antipathy between Carrie Symonds v DC and between DC v the Cabinet Office.

I wondered if there is a "Cry Wolf" effect? We all knew he was lying about his actions last year, so can we believe him now? How do we decide when he might be telling the truth? Best just ignore him!

Yes definitely an element of this. Poor Barnard Castle is associated with telling porkies forever more! However,
there is a Covid inquiry taking place in May before MPs where Cummings will apparently land Boris in the proverbial mire.

I couldn't give a fuck about who pays for Boris's curtains. It's not his house.
I'm with Dominic Grieve on this one. He claimed the refurbishment debacle was 'just one illustration of the chaos Mr Johnson seems to bring in his wake… If you have someone who is a vacuum of integrity, you're going to get this sort of story coming up over and over again."

I think eventually something is going to stick and the public will eventually care.

I remember the MP expenses scandal and that was rolling on for quite a while before it caught the public's imagination.

I don't know what it will be, maybe a receipt for a ridiculously expensive sofa or cushion cover. Maybe a text which unequivocally shows that BJ doesn't give a shit about anyone but himself and his mates.

But, I have to hope, that the Boris and his cronies will be kicked out of Diwning Street.

jgw1 · 25/04/2021 17:37

In a few conversations I have had with people in the last week who previously couldn't understand why I wasn't a fan of Boris I have noticed their views changing.

Maybe the mud is starting to stick.

SteveArnottsCodeine · 25/04/2021 17:51

I’m worried this is all part of some Gove master plan. I hate Johnson, I hate him. But it’s Gove in the top job that I really fear.

CuriousaboutSamphire · 25/04/2021 18:37

Tittle tattle 😁

52andblue · 25/04/2021 19:15
**@Miljea is right massive public outcry over football this week removing the competitive element to line their pockets

The UK government (former and current) found removing the competitive element and lining their own, and their mates pockets, no public outcry just a collective shrug.

Johnson personally changing tax scenario for a friend - It’s Covid innit. Matt Hancock’s old landlord getting the contract for vaccine vials - it’s Covid innit.

Johnson having Tory donors paying for his decor / nothing to see here! But what’s the difference between that and a football manager accepting a bung?

I bet Johnson is bloody glad that they ordered that vaccine or he’d have been out on his ear by now.
@Miljea and @VaVaGloom have summed it up.

Hue and cry about football, yet when the country faces similar threats everyone shrugs? No wonder they say we get the Govt we deserve :(

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 25/04/2021 20:15

But, I have to hope, that the Boris and his cronies will be kicked out of Diwning Street.

I’m hoping for some jail time, but that’s probably setting my expectations too high.

Not just the government we deserve, but the one we voted for. Johnson and Cummings are in it up to their necks when it comes to corruption & lack of integrity and it hasn’t exactly been a secret even before Johnson won the election.

MarshaBradyo · 25/04/2021 20:16

Bonkers

Johnson took a big hit to defend Cummings. Now this.

Feels so playground

Miljea · 25/04/2021 20:39

What happened to 'the Mother of all Parliaments'?

It's shaming.
