So Johnson and Cummings are at each other’s throats. Anyone else think that it’s karma for them being such self serving, conniving, utter shit weasels last year? It’s so fitting that they are self destructing their own abominable empire.

United they stood, divided they fall.

Honestly it's laughable. Boris briefing against Cameron over a personal grudge, then Dom briefing against Boris. What a pack of school boys so arrogant they think they have the right to rule. It's despicable any were elected.

QuantumofSolace · 24/04/2021 07:45

@lljkk

I can't believe DC would seriously maul the (Tory politician) hand that feeds him. It's a spat but won't go further.
Depends what else Cummings has on BJ surely?
AllPowerfulLizardPerson · 24/04/2021 07:47

Boris is going to be able to get away with this.

Because everyone, since Barnard Castle, sees Cummings in such a bad light.

He really misjudged what the public thought of that trip.

Unescorted · 24/04/2021 07:54

It seems convenient that one of the most distrusted people in the country is said to be leaking information. I am sceptical especially as it is "a trusted advisor" of Number 10 saying it is Dom doing dastardly deeds. It has the feel of Johnson being thrown under a bus... Maybe he has fallen out with his other minder advisor Ed Lister.

QuantumofSolace · 24/04/2021 07:54

And I hate to side with Cummings - because both of them are equally despicable - but I do think the public "give a monkeys" about a possibly illegal £60,000 flat renovation using tax payers money, or rather the fact that it wasn't declared.

LizzieSiddal · 24/04/2021 08:57

I too think the public “give a monkeys”. Again Johnson does not have a clue, he’s an entitled, arrogant, liar.

But surely, if the public gave the slightest toss about this kind of thing, they would never have elected Boris in the first place? We all knew that he was dishonest. Why would people suddenly start caring about that now?
RoseAndRose · 24/04/2021 09:12

It wasn't taxpayers money, it was from party donors.

LizzieSiddal · 24/04/2021 09:30

A lot of them voted for him because 1.Corbyn and 2.he said he would “Get Brexit Done”, they didn’t care about anything else. I do think and hope, that having seen the incompetence from day 1 of the Covid crisis, people will begin to care. Surely they will have had enough of him?

LizzieSiddal · 24/04/2021 09:32

Also the Red Wall will not like all this Cameron stuff, it’s all “old boys” elitism. The May local elections will be interesting.

Kendodd · 24/04/2021 09:37

We should hold our government to considerably higher standards.

We don't though. Voters knew what Johnson was like, it was crystal clear before the 2019 election. Some voters seem to wear this knowledge of his character as a badge of pride while sticking up for him. The fact that we vote this sort of man into our highest elected office makes me ashamed to be British. And I bet the Tories win big in the county council elections in May.

Do we know who paid for his holiday in Mustique btw? Was that ever uncovered?

Happygirl79 · 24/04/2021 09:46

The pair of them are like entitled twins without morals
Can't stand either of them

baroqueandblue · 24/04/2021 10:03

And, conveniently, we now have the media getting increasingly shrill about a 3rd (India variant) wave being nigh. If anything can make a scandal at the top go away...

Just sayin'

QuantumofSolace · 24/04/2021 11:02

It wasn't taxpayers money, it was from party donors

Only half of it was intended to come from party donors. According to this article the incoming PM has an allowance of £30,000 for refurbishments which presumably comes from the public purse. The rest has now been (apparently) been paid by BJ but he was considering setting up a fund from party donors to cover it, which Cummings said was illegal, a bad idea etc. The point about all of this though that it was not transparent.

blueangel19 · 24/04/2021 11:22

Most people do not care about this and would vote Boris again if the elections were tomorrow or next month. They care more about being vaccinated and jobs. Most people loathe the cancel culture and woke shit so that would be reason.

blueangel19 · 24/04/2021 11:26

In London may be different which is why Sadiq Khan will be in again.

PicsInRed · 24/04/2021 11:38

@Miljea

This is politics like a 1970s African Dictatorship.

We should hold our government to considerably higher standards.

It's politics exactly like the UK yesterday, today and tomorrow.

In fact I would go so far as to say that commenters in any number of African countries could harshly criticise their own politicians by saying:

"This is politics like a British constitutional monarchy. We should hold our governments to considerably higher standards."

The only difference from yesteryear is that we now have social media so British politicians and their media pals are less able to conceal pervasive largesse from what they consider to be the unwashed masses.

Milkywaystars · 24/04/2021 11:39

I think the conservatives will need to handle Cummings very carefully because he knows a lot. He knows the good, bad and the ugly details about the tories, he was the king maker after all. He got Johnson to number 10 and he can also play a part in his undoing. The tories would be stupid to underestimate Dominic Cummings.

nancy75 · 24/04/2021 11:41

This is t for the benefit of the public, we can’t do anything about Johnson until the next election, this is for the benefit of the party - getting them ready for the Gove power grab

VaVaGloom · 24/04/2021 13:09

@Miljea is right massive public outcry over football this week removing the competitive element to line their pockets

The UK government (former and current) found removing the competitive element and lining their own, and their mates pockets, no public outcry just a collective shrug.

Johnson personally changing tax scenario for a friend - It’s Covid innit. Matt Hancock’s old landlord getting the contract for vaccine vials - it’s Covid innit.

Johnson having Tory donors paying for his decor / nothing to see here! But what’s the difference between that and a football manager accepting a bung?

I bet Johnson is bloody glad that they ordered that vaccine or he’d have been out on his ear by now.

I loathe, loathe, loathe Gove with every fibre in my body. But....In charge of education, as he was a thousand years ago (memories are short) he introduced the new standards in GCSE, untested, unpiloted, with a complete disregard towards educationalists et al.

Those weren’t Gove’s education reforms, they were Dominic Cummings’ education reforms, implemented by Gove.

baroqueandblue · 24/04/2021 14:14

He got Johnson to number 10 and he can also play a part in his undoing

Or, as Kenneth Williams said in one of the Carry On films (Screaming?) "I made you, and I can break you just as easily!"

There's actally quite a bit of shiny pink scalp showing through. I reckon if he combed his hair there would be even more.
