Just watching Bones for the first time and absolutely gutted about Sweets which made me wonder which other tv deaths have upset MNers.

Lots of potential for spoilers here so apologies in advance.

Buffys mom.
Kathy Maxwell in original series of V. I've been watching that series since 1985 and I still sob everytime!

intheenddoesitreallymatter · 24/04/2021 22:32

Ivar from the Vikings.

‘I am afraid’
‘I won’t tell anybody.’

😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

Orangesandlemons82 · 24/04/2021 22:32

Kate in Heartbeat. I was only a teenager at the time and was upset for days.

Marley from Marley and me too. I was only about 13/14 and I gutterally sobbed on the floor in the kitchen in physical pain.

I did rewatch it recently and although the agony was repeated my reaction was far less dramatic.

Luddite26 · 24/04/2021 22:35

Emily Bishop's husband Ernest in Corrie shot in a robbery in the factory.
Then Stan Ogden in Corrie .
Mr. Chips in the ancient original film - the Martin Clunes doesn't get me in floods. "Did he have any children? All boys." Nearly crying typing and no idea why. Think it was lack of a father as a child!

Then oh my God it's a Sin. Everyone of them i had to watch over and over and cried for my friend Bernard who died in 1992 of Aids and love of my life Freddie Mercury. Those poor men how they were treated is yet another shameful episode of the 1980s.
The poor Scottish guy who died and the gang all said he was old made me cry because it was like a throw away life. I don't know what i would have done had Rosco died. What a bloody programme.

Overdueanamechange · 24/04/2021 22:41

Every main character dealth in Peaky Blinders was pretty traumatic!
Not TV but Dobby, Snape and Dumbledore. Jeff Rawle as an actor when loosing his son - Cedric Diggory - was heartbreakingly realistic.
Phil Bellamy and Phil and Gina's stillborn baby.
Arthur's death in Merlin, which made the end a bit crap.
Joyce Summers was well done. Spike at the end :-(

keffie12 · 24/04/2021 22:58

Ziva David in NCIS when they killed her off! Though the storyline did bring her back in later series to tidy up the Tony Ziva business

I won't bore you with it all if you don't watch it. Least to say it was far more credible then the Dallas one when Bobby Ewing was bought back from the dead

thesecretvoter · 24/04/2021 23:03

Derek when his dog is put to sleep 😭

@MummyInTheNecropolis

Poussey in orange is the new black. Completely unexpected and heartbreaking, I have goosebumps now just thinking about it.
Omg yess! I still think about that scene. And has anyone seen Jane the virgin!? Michael's 'death' made me sob 😭
AliceMcK · 24/04/2021 23:05

Vera, Jack and Mike Baldwin in Corry, all had me bawling. I love it when they bring Vera back to be with Jack.
Glenn TWD There are a few others but this one mainly.
Mark Green ER.
David Tennants Dr 😭
Ned Stark GOT although there are few others here too.
Opi SOA
Paul Hennersey 8 simple rules, I remember my exDH and I bawling our eyes out to this when it happened. I think because we knew he died in real life and they wrote into the show made it even harder.

disconnected101 · 24/04/2021 23:07

Lots in Watership Down!
And another animated one, the old couple in When The Wind Blows. The whole thing was so bleak and harrowing.

UserEleventyNine · 24/04/2021 23:09

Matthew in Downtown Abbey. Not just upset, but really cross the writers could allow it to happen!

Didn't the actor want to leave? Not much the writers could do about that - unless he turned out to be a Time Lord.

tommyhoundmum · 24/04/2021 23:11

3CCC

Grace Archer's death was equally upsetting. I still think about it 60+ years later and the horses made it even worse.

Namaste6 · 24/04/2021 23:15

The English Patient - Kristen Scott Thomas' character. I cried for days. Closely followed by Marley & Me.

Giggorata · 24/04/2021 23:18

Kai in Lexx. If I rewatch, still sob.🥲

Scandicc · 24/04/2021 23:21

Justin Ripley in “Luther” Sad

Squirrelly1 · 24/04/2021 23:28

Sgt Ripley - Luther
Mac - Strike Back
Cass / Unforgotten
Ronnies daughter - Eastenders
Bea - Wentworth
Aiden - Corrie

Woolybear · 24/04/2021 23:32

Yes Mark Greene in ER and yes OMG Billy in Ally McBeale, so sad never forgotten it 🥲🥲🥲

fucksat50 · 24/04/2021 23:35

When Judith died on Polark

Woolybear · 24/04/2021 23:35

And Daniel in I Daniel Blake, I couldn’t leave the toilets in the cinema I sobbed so much

Wearegoingtoneedabiggerboat · 24/04/2021 23:42

Both upsetting and disturbing was the murder scene in twin peaks when BOB kills Laura’s cousin maddie. It lasted about 5 mins, it was horrific.
Also before the walking dead, Andrew Lincoln was in a TV Programme called afterlife. It only lasted two seasons and no one seems to remember it. I don’t normally cry at TV programmes but the ending was absolutely heartbreaking.

Leontine · 24/04/2021 23:48

The Hound GoT. I knew his death was likely but I so wanted him to survive!

DennisTMenace · 24/04/2021 23:51

Macaulay Culkin in My Girl. First time I ever cried at a film. Watched again as an adult and sobbed all night. I was an emotional wreck at work the next day.

Heartofglass12345 · 24/04/2021 23:51

@WhateverJohnnyMcNofriends that bastard Fenner!! His death was genius mind!

When Max died on his wedding day in Hollyoaks

When Wilson died in Friday night dinner, I can't even watch that episode!

When the blind man gets killed in one foot in the grave, and when Victor dies, it's so sad

Nana dying in the Royle family

I thought I had seen all of Dawson's Creek when I was younger, until last week when I saw the last episode on Netflix and Jen died! I was crying so much lol.

BubblestarUK · 24/04/2021 23:54
