Just watching Bones for the first time and absolutely gutted about Sweets which made me wonder which other tv deaths have upset MNers.

Lots of potential for spoilers here so apologies in advance.

OP posts:

The Tiger in Walking Dead. I sobbed.

TenThousandSpoons · 24/04/2021 19:08

Rita in Dexter. I was devastated.

LalalalalalaLand123 · 24/04/2021 19:17

LA Law - Rosalind stepping into the lift but it was an empty shaft, falling to her death.

I never care when people die, when animals die though...

The end of that episode of Futurama with the dog kills me. I can’t even think about it without sobbing, it’s horrific.

SteveArnottsCodeine · 24/04/2021 19:26

@MobyDicksTinyCanoe

Cucumber on channel 4.

The series was so upbeat and then one of the main characters died from a whack to the head. It wasn't gory or overdone but the simplicity and finality of his death haunted me. I had nightmares over it.

It was made by the guy who did its a sin so if anyone liked that they'll love cucumber as it's pretty similar.

And here to say the shocking demise of Lance. I didn’t sleep at all the night that aired. Really messed with me.

@itshappened

Daphne in neighbours was the first tv death I remember... she said I love you clarky and died. It was very traumatising as I was very young!
Yes this one for me too!!! I was sobbing!!!
andpeggy1 · 24/04/2021 19:28

Mrs laningham from the west wing

Arrowheart · 24/04/2021 19:29

@pomers

Nairobi in Money Heist
Oh definitely 😭😭😭😭😭
JeffVaderneedsatray · 24/04/2021 19:33

Not a TV programme but Wash in the film Serenity.
Most unexpected and really made me weep.

SusannahSophia · 24/04/2021 19:39

The last episode of Blake’s 7. I had such a crush on Avon.
I didn’t care when Adric died on Doctor Who, annoying character.
Christopher Ecclestone on Cracker.
That deep fat fryer episode on Spooks was shocking, but Ruth’s death was really sad, much worse than the same actress on Unforgotten.
Hank on Breaking Bad.
All the boys and men on It’s a Sin, really sobbed.

The most upsetting was some late night made for TV film drama when an older man died. It was when my dad was quite poorly and I sobbed and sobbed, but it was for my dad really. He died about a year later.

moostermum · 24/04/2021 19:41

Will Smith - Seven Pounds. Sobbed my heart out 😭

remember1 · 24/04/2021 19:49

Madge dying in neighbours. I was about 12 and I remember being devastated

DitchinVirgin · 24/04/2021 19:54

Wilson! (He was my best friend)

SameToo · 24/04/2021 19:56

The ‘cat in a bag’ baby murder in Them. The most traumatic thing I think I’ve seen on screen.

Fuchsia50 · 24/04/2021 19:58

Me too. In Er heart breaking

StarCourt · 24/04/2021 20:02

Not a death but Rose in Dr Who when she got to stay with the clone Dr but knowing he wasn't the real one. Sobbed

Skone · 24/04/2021 20:04

Bobby from NYPD blue 😔

DenisetheMenace · 24/04/2021 20:09

Today 20:02 StarCourt

Not a death but Rose in Dr Who when she got to stay with the clone Dr but knowing he wasn't the real one. Sobbed“

Oh, yes, I’d completely forgotten that! Gut wrenching.

Frankly, I’d take a life sized cardboard cut out of David Tennant Grin

JonSnowIsALoser · 24/04/2021 20:10

Pretty much all the deaths in "Attack on Titan", but especially Marco's.

That anime series is so much better at showing the horrors of war and prejudice, and the meaning of sacrifice and humanity than any regular movie I've ever seen.

MsTSwift · 24/04/2021 20:19

Rachel in Cold Feet. One of the young secretaries at work had recently been killed in a car accident. Half the typing pool didn’t come in the day after that episode.

Mark Greene in ER and Lucy in ER that she knew she was fatally injured and just had to lie there and die

Anne Boleyn in Wolf Hall

muffb · 24/04/2021 20:35

Agree with Chris from Skins and Poussey from OITNB.

Grantly and Tom Clarkson in Waterloo road.

Watched a small amount of it's a sin on gogglebox, so didn't have a clue what any of it was about but sobbed like a baby when watching on Gogglebox.

I'm sure I have more I cry at everything 😅

Onebabygirl · 24/04/2021 20:40

Sally Field’s daughter in Eye for an Eye. Traumatises me still 😭.

Blondephantom · 24/04/2021 20:42

Most of mine have been mentioned.

Emily the kitchen maid in Upstairs Downstairs.

Hazel in Upstairs Downstairs - James only seems to realise how much he loves her once she has gone.

Cassie in The Bill.

Janus · 24/04/2021 21:12

Daniel (Russel Tovey) in Years and Years, I thought about that scene trying to cross the Channel for days, ended up donating to refugee crisis to even begin to deal with it.
Colin, It’s a Sin and then Ritchie.
George O’Malley for not seeing it was George.
Mark Greene ER

magicstar1 · 24/04/2021 21:18

Mark in ER....I think of him every time I hear Over the Rainbow.

Wilson in Friday Night Dinner. I saw it for the first time last week...DH found me in floods of tears...so sad.
