Oh @Motherofmonsters it is so hard to keep cool isn't it? I felt awful yesterday as seemed to do nothing but tell them off! It will be better when thry are older

Motherofmonsters · 02/07/2021 15:10

Oh no sorry he got conjunctivitis again @pinkdaydreams, it's non stop sometimes.

DS is much the same, I think he's okay and then he does a bit of running around and we are back to how he was. We've had a weird day, had to take my mum to a hospital appointment this morning, took the kids in the car as it's only 20mins to get there and DD could sleep in the car. It took 1.5hours to get back! DS fell asleep with 10mjns to go so bedtime will be interesting. We then popped in to see FIL for lunch and then SIL's. Just got back DS is watching Noddy and playing with his sand. DD is playing with her dolls.

squishymamma · 03/07/2021 07:01

Morning all!

First day of the summer holidays today and it's going to be 30 degrees...dreading it, mainly because DH is rubbish in the heat and he's already under the weather. Planning to get out the swimming pool.

I guess my hobbies would be reading and knitting, and I used to enjoy volunteering but that was scuppered with a baby and COVID so we'll see if I pick that up again. Right now my main hobby is sat staring at my phone to get a break when I can. And sleeping.

@PinkDaydreams sorry to hear DS got conjunctivitis again, hope it clears up soon.

@Motherofmonsters how did bedtime go? Hope you all got some sleep!

We had a few night wakings here but then DS slept until 7am which was heavenly. Still feeling sluggish today though!

Morning everyone. How is everyone?

DS1 was duck twice last night and up until 10 but seems fine today, very bizarre.

dS2 was awake a lot. It's pouring down! We've had the puzzles out and the Tele on. Going for a walk around the supermarket soon which is standard for a wet day.

Hope everyone has a good day.

Chocolatetrifle · 03/07/2021 08:39

Sick that should say not duck!

Motherofmonsters · 03/07/2021 08:58

Very jealous of your hot weather @squishymama it is cold and wet here. I very nearly put the heating on. DD was up lots in the night, she can't breathe freely because of her cold.

Oh no @chocolatetrifle, hopefully he won't be sick again!

We've been playing pop up pirate, jigsaws and making pretend cups of tea so far. Not sure what we will do later, DH gets to escape to the opticians this afternoon

Chocolatetrifle · 03/07/2021 11:07

Oh is Pop up Pirate good @Motherofmonsters? I've thought about getting that. We've got a hungry hippos travel game which is quite good.

How is your DS today? My DS is fine but clearly overtired and cross. Hope your DD feels better x

Motherofmonsters · 03/07/2021 14:25

I think it's good, DS gets the point of the game so it's good for taking in turns etc. DD will sit there for ages just putting the swords in so works for her to. DS would love hungry hippos but I think he would get a bit crazy playing it. He's the same thank you, I think it's just going to hang around for weeks. Glad your DS hasn't been sick again, hopefully he'll have a big sleep tonight

JohnnyMcGrathSaysFuckOff · 03/07/2021 14:29

Hi all, sorry for all those with poorly LOs!

We had swimming this morning - the twins are nearly ready to move up to Stage 1 which doesn't involve an adult coming in with them - I won't know what to do with myself when they do move! I've done someone's swimming lesson pretty much every Saturday since 2015 now barring Covid closures.

Then went to a toyshop and got the twins their first scooters 😱😱 don't tell me that was a mistake! Now MNing from the side of the gym whilst watching DD1 at gymnastics. We were meant to be getting her a bike tomorrow but I didn't like her attitude at the toyshop - we didn't get her a scooter as she already has one and she was a bit sulky.

But we'll see if she behaves better today - she does need a bigger bike this summer and we have a bike shop on our street, so....

Camomila · 03/07/2021 14:34

Also jealous of your warm weather squishymamma it's raining here.

DS1 and DH have gone on a "man playdate". DS1 is playing with my friends big kids and the 2DHs are in the pub watching the rugby. I'm home with DS2 as my friend invited DH over to give me a break Grin No big row or anything, just getting on each others nerves wfh.

None of my DC are poorly for once but I have developed some sort of stress heartburn instead. (almost bought a flat last week then pulled out - the school run would have been a nightmare).

squishymamma · 03/07/2021 15:06

@Chocolatetrifle glad to hear your DS is feeling better.

@Motherofmonsters sorry to hear you didn't get good sleep, fingers crossed the cold doesn't hang around.

@Camomila a "man playdate" sounds like a great idea, I should recommend that to DH! Especially as we have a long summer ahead of us. Flat hunting sounds stressful, hope you find somewhere that works for you soon.

We've come to the lake we have just outside Oslo, we're grilling and swimming. There's tons of kids here which means loads of toys hanging around and DS doesn't really understand the concept of ownership yet, so we're basically fielding him and trying to stop him from gatecrashing other peoples' gatherings. Times like these I'm dreading having 2 kids Grin

JohnnyMcGrathSaysFuckOff · 03/07/2021 19:09

Highlights from today -
"Look, I'm sorry you're upset but it's not physically possible to sit on all the chairs in the living room at the same time."

"Yes, now you've coloured your arms and legs in green, you do look like the frog from Room On The Broom."

"My name isn't 'poor old thing'."

But most of all..... "stop fighting!!!"

They are in bed THANK CHRIST

JohnnyMcGrathSaysFuckOff · 03/07/2021 19:10

Ooh I didn't realise you were in Norway @squishymamma

Chocolatetrifle · 04/07/2021 08:41

I just have to report that both DS slept until 7! This has never happened! Yes there were a couple of wake ups and yes DS1 is catching up from the night before after being sick but 7am!

How is everyone?

Motherofmonsters · 04/07/2021 11:06

That's amazing @chocolatetrifle I'm very jealous.

Quiet morning here. DD's nursery have said she can go back so that's a relief. DS's preschool manager is consulting with the head teacher, I think I'm in trouble...

We're off for a roast at the in-laws in a little bit.

Hope everyone has better weather than we do

Motherofmonsters · 04/07/2021 18:42

I hope everyone has had a good day. We have had a lovely day at the in laws. The kids had fun but DS fell over doing an obstacle course and has scrapped his knee. DH is trying to get him to have a shower but he's worried about his plaster getting wet.

DS is allowed back at school as it's been 10 days so that's good. I think his behaviour is going to be bad though as he's been away from excitement for a while.

JohnnyMcGrathSaysFuckOff · 04/07/2021 18:49

Congrats @Motherofmonsters that must be a relief. Chucking it down here but we managed a rain walk and then it cleared up a little so we took DC and their scooters to local NT property. They did pretty well for first time altho DS mostly used his like a Zimmerframe Grin

squishymamma · 04/07/2021 19:03

@JohnnyMcGrathSaysFuckOff yeah, moved back in 2016 with my Norwegian DH. Love living here but do miss the UK sometimes. Loved the quotes, can't wait until DS starts talking - I'm going to write them down so I can embarrass him as a teenager.

@Motherofmonsters sounds like a great day. Glad to hear all can go back to school too.

We had a lovely relaxed day, went to the local playground and read the sky right, making it back home 5 mins before it started lashing down. DS however had a danger nap at 4pm and is now running round like he's on some kind of toddler crack, he's usually asleep by 7.30pm and now it's just past 8. Hoping a late night means a late morning (though it's never been like that before...)

Hope everyone else had a good day!

Chocolatetrifle · 04/07/2021 21:12

Sounds like everyone has had a nice day Smile

We just went to a park this morning and DH took both DS to his parents for a couple of hours, so I did a bit of work, it was nice to have some peace. We had a thunder and lightning storm before.

DS2 took a while to settle asleep and was trying to pull his eyelids and eyebrows, it was like he had just discovered them.

DS1 is sniffing and sneezing again so hope it doesn't materialise into anything. New week, new cold.

Good news about nursery and preschool tomorrow @Motherofmonsters.

How many weeks are you now @squishymamma? Hope your DS settled after his danger nap?

Oh I love a NT property @JohnnyMcGrathSaysFuckOff. Hope you had a good day. We had membership a few years ago and need to get around to renewing. Gift shops are great and so is the cake!

We've got tickets for the Cheshire Steam Fair next Saturday, it's got a fair and stalls as well as old trains too but I think it's going to be awful weather next week so no doubt it will just be a mud bath. Will see how it looks by the end of the week. Field and mud and buggy wheels, reminds me of winter lockdown walks.

Tomorrow morning is preschool for DS1 and it's supposed to be abysmal weather so will potter about with DS2.

Sleep well everyone.

Motherofmonsters · 04/07/2021 21:23

DD started crying and as I went past I looked in DS's room and couldn't see him. When I resettled DD I found him as far under the bed as possible barricaded in. I had to get DH help me to move the bed out, put DS in bed and then shimmy it back. He didn't wake up though!

squishymamma · 05/07/2021 06:53

Is it bedtime yet? We've been up since 5.30, so just over 2 hours, and in that time DS has attempted to escape through an open window, over eaten on Weetabix so some came back up (wouldn't call it "been sick" as was more with a burp...), possibly eaten leftover dishwasher powder with a fork (seems fine though) and taken out half a pack of baby wipes from the packet. Just had to stop him eating a crayon whilst typing this.

No idea what we're doing today, it's forecast rain and thunder. Try to keep DS alive, I guess. Possibly some puzzles and a little walk in the rain...

Anyone else got nice plans?

@Chocolatetrifle I'm 17 weeks now, seems to be going both fast and slow...making the most of the second trimester energy before I get sluggish and too fat to do anything!!

@Motherofmonsters how funny, so he's managed it in his sleep? Impressive feat.

Motherofmonsters · 05/07/2021 12:41

Hope your day is getting better @squishymama sometimes they are hazard to themselves.

I'm having a good day, got some time to myself at last. I've tidied, been in the hot tub, hoovered, moped and I'm just making some lunch to sit on my bum until I pick up DS.

Chocolatetrifle · 05/07/2021 18:06

Talking of dangerous pursuits, my DS2 is obsessed with trying to crawl under the TV stand, behind the TV onto the TV today. Must be something in the air @squishymamma. Hope the rest of your day went well?

Glad you had some time to yourself @Motherofmonsters.

We've been to a garden centre this afternoon and then did some face paints. L
dS1 wanted Halloween transfers on.

What age did you give your toddler a pillow for bed? DS1 was nearly 2 I think when I gave him a pillow, so just wondering whether to try DS1 now, he's 18 months.

Camomila · 05/07/2021 19:19

I think DS1 had a little toddler pillow aged 18m as that's when he went into a toddler bed - he always ended up in my bed though.

Work day for me today, DS2 had nursery in the morning then went to DMs and enjoyed eating all the raspberries off her bushes - she sent me a brilliant photo of him doing a "lemon face" when he had one that wasn't very ripe. DS1 is sulking because there were more baddies than superheros at playtime today - I think he is tired after his "night out" on Saturday (stayed up to watch the football with his friend). I have cheered him up with last little pot of jelly.

Am counting down the days to the end of term so there is no more homework/school uniform washing etc.

squishymamma · 05/07/2021 19:59

Day went better after a while, DS has been pretty tired all day though and I'm expecting he'll wake up a bit during the night. It's really hot again.

@Chocolatetrifle definitely something in the air! We have given DS a (child's) pillow now at 16 months, mainly to see if the slight angle of his head would help his nose (which is almost permanently blocked at the moment). He doesn't seem fussed either way.

@Motherofmonsters glad you had a nice bit of me time, my parents have a hot tub and I miss it!

@Camomila totally get what you mean about school holidays and we don't even have uniform and homework! My pet peeve is making packed lunches. I always feel so uninspired, and like the nursery are judging my lunches even though I know most parents give the same thing. Looking forward to the return of hot lunches once COVID is over...
