We can book a quarter of the baby pool for 45 mins @PinkDaydreams
Ah yes he's fine now thanks, but it knocked him to the ground and he got a bruise on his forehead, they've apologised and offered me £20, I said that was an insult and they can keep it! (Previous litigator here!). I can't take it further but main thing he is ok.

@drumst1ck, ah, are you ok ? It's so hard at times (a lot of the time I find) but you will be doing a fantastic job with your DC. Hope you can get some rest on your break. We are here to listen when you need us.

Motherofmonsters · 30/06/2021 07:44

Morning everyone,

I think DS is being better but his cold is still bad. He's actually moved this morning where before it was taking him until 11 to even do anything.

Sun is shining so I'm hoping we can go out in the garden.

Chocolatetrifle · 30/06/2021 09:59

Morning, glad your DS seems a bit better@Motherofmonsters, hope he can shake off the cold soon.

dS1 has come out in hives again this is the second time after finishing the antibiotics. They say it's unlikely to he connected to the antibiotics just the virus. Seems a bit of a coincidence to me.

DS1 is at preschool so just pottering with DS2 now in the garden.

DS2 is actually running the length of his cot rather than going to sleep in it tonight.

@Chocolatetrifle

DS2 is actually running the length of his cot rather than going to sleep in it tonight.
There must be something in the air as my DS was laughing his head off shouting "oh no" whilst I was reading his stories! It was funny and he's very sweet when he's full on laughing......but not at bedtime! He's normally very chilled once he's in his bed, not tonight though!

DD just woke up absolutely screaming wanting milk, I had a cup in her room but when I went to give it to her she was screaming no at it, batting it away. So I took the cup of milk out of her room stood there for 10 seconds and walked back in, she had a sip, lay down and went to sleep??!!

Motherofmonsters · 01/07/2021 09:27

Morning, hope everyone is okay this morning.

Still poorly here, I'm not sure how they keep making so much snot it's literally never ending.

The sun is shining so we will probably just be playing in the garden later, not sure what else to do really

Motherofmonsters · 01/07/2021 10:09

DD wouldn't let me get in the shower as wanted a nap, can't get her to nap in her cot, this is after waking every 20mins last night. I'm going to lose my mind today

Chocolatetrifle · 01/07/2021 12:27

@Motherofmonsters, oh no that's really tough. They are very clingy at this age aren't they? My DS2 is very clingy at the moment plus screams so much. I've just noticed he has 2 upper molars breaking through so that probably explains it.

Did DD nap in the end?

It's a lovely day here too. It's been preschool this morning, DS1 is really settling in now and says he enjoys it. I think this afternoon we will either just go to a playground or stay in the garden as we have about 200 water balloons!

Motherofmonsters · 01/07/2021 14:40

@chocolatetrifle so clingy, I'm not sure if DS wasn't clingy or if I've just blanked it from my memory. No naps unfortunately but I did manage to get in the shower so feel much happier.

We've mostly been playing with the kinetic sand and food bits from the kitchen today. DS is saying he's to poorly to go outside, I think he just can't be bothered really as he's much better today (bouncing on my sofas like a lunatic).

I've just realised I haven't left the house since Wednesday last week..

PinkDaydreams · 01/07/2021 19:01

@Chocolatetrifle water balloons have been so good for us this year! I bought a load in bulk off eBay.......4000 of them!! Confused I didn't realise how many there were until they arrived!

Something else I was meant to put on here the other week that son has enjoyed playing with outside, one of those collapsible water carriers with a tap on for camping. I picked it from home bargains for about £3 and it's kept son entertained!

Son was back at the doctor's today with his chest, had a listen and it's clear so no need for a chest X ray. Said he's too young to diagnose asthma and to keep an eye on him and carry on using the inhaler at night as I have found that to be helping.

Evening all.

@Motherofmonsters hope you're doing okay after what sounds like an intense night/day. Fingers crossed DD sleeps well for you tonight. DS is also really clingy and of course it is always me he wants and not DH.

@PinkDaydreams I spoke to DM after not getting a doctor's appointment, because I remember my brother had bad hayfever as a child. She said he had (and still has) an inhaler that helps, even though he doesn't have asthma. So maybe its a mix? So glad to hear he doesn't need an x-ray.

We've just been running the usual weekday race this week, we decided kind of last minute to switch nursery in August so it's DS's last day at his current one tomorrow. Mainly driven by the fact the best employee they have is leaving Grin but also it's much closer and will be easier to handle when baby arrives at the end of the year. So lots of scrambling around for gifts etc!

DS still has a cough but it's gotten loads better since we stopped using a fan in his room at night - which is not ideal as it's so warm, but if it stops him waking himself up coughing I'll take it. Summer holidays are looming and I'm considering writing up a list of activities we can do that don't cost a fortune. Birthday month for me too Cake lots to look forward to!

Hope everyone gets a good night's sleep tonight.

Chocolatetrifle · 01/07/2021 19:58

@PinkDaydreams, that's good news your DS's chest is clear and glad the inhaler is helping. I asked our GP last Friday when I took DS and they said they will don't diagnose asthma until aged 5.

@Motherofmonsters, hopefully if your DS is feeling better now you can get out and about again. Hope your DD sleeps better tonight.

It's been a hit and miss day here. I lost it at DS1 for hitting DS2 across the face earlier. So much for calmly explaining why we don't do that. I did shout and scream at him. Bit of a low point really and feel really rubbish now.

Hope everyone has a decent night's sleep.

Chocolatetrifle · 01/07/2021 20:01

@squishymamma, glad your DS is feeling better now. It's good to have a plan as to what to do, then we you are busier some days out and about it's easier to have quiet days at home I think.

PinkDaydreams · 01/07/2021 20:08

I've just re read my collapsible water carrier paragraph, I missed out the important bit.....it's the tap he's been playing with on it! Filling up a bucket, turning the tap on and off, letting the water run on his hands etc.

Thank you for the well wishes for my son, I'm glad he's not had to have an X ray and that it's nothing more serious. The gp mentioned seasonal asthma.

@Chocolatetrifle we've all hd times like that, it difficult to stay calm every single second if the day, especially when the children are being testing!! Just remember that tomorrow is a new day :)

Motherofmonsters · 01/07/2021 20:16

I have had a horrible day and I've been a horrible mum. Ive just shouted all day, we sat to have dinner and I just started crying so took my food and hid in the kitchen from the kids. DS still isn't great, he's just got a cough and a snotty nose but it's just not shifting.

DH didnt want him to get tested which is a whole other argument so we've just kept him at home. It's 10days tomorrow so that's fine but I didn't mention to school as I thought they would be all judgy and he would have stopped coughing but he hasn't. So now I don't know whether to say he's still a bit ill but we've isolated for 10days and can he come or just keep him off for forever just saying he's still poorly? It's making me feel really anxious. I cant do a test now as it's gone on for too long. Next time I'll be ignoring DH.

Chocolatetrifle · 01/07/2021 20:54

@Motherofmonsters, could DS need some antibiotics? Would it be worth just keeping him off until Monday, try to get In to the Dr tomorrow? Sorry it's been a hard day for you x

Chocolatetrifle · 01/07/2021 21:07

@PinkDaydreams, thank you and yes tomorrow is another day. I will go to bed and forget about it. Onwards and upwards.
I just thought would your son benefit from the calpol vapour plug in in his room at night for a bit, I think it's lovely and soothing and definitely clears the chest a bit The tap thing sounds good fun! They all love water play don't they?

Motherofmonsters · 01/07/2021 22:04

@chocolatetrifle ah he might do, I will give them a ring and see what they say.

@pinkdaydreams the water carrier is a great idea, DS would love that. He always wants to mess around with waterbutt taps. I'm glad your DS has got the all clear on his scans.

Tomorrow is a new day and I'm going to be a new mum. I'm going to really try not to be shouty, I wander if I need a reward chart for me? Spa day as a reward for not shouting for a week?

Chocolatetrifle · 02/07/2021 07:04

Morning everyone, today is a new day.

I think I might take DS's to the farm shop and the playground this morning.

I've also got some of those magnetic letters and numbers so I'm going to get them out in a bit and let the DS put them on the fridge, radiator etc.

How are you feeling today @Motherofmonsters? Hope you feel better today.

Chocolatetrifle · 02/07/2021 07:08

Spa day treat sounds lovely btw. What does everyone do that is just for yourselves? I went to the opticians last weekend and she asked me what are my hobbies and I genuinely don't have any!

squishymamma · 02/07/2021 07:10

@Motherofmonsters tomorrow (today) is indeed a new day, and I think it should absolutely be possible to create our own reward charts. Massage for a week without shouting, child free day for a month, weekend away with DGP looking after DC for 3 months...something like that? Grin Hope everything works out with your DS, I'm sure if you explain his cough isn't new they should be fine with that. That's what we did with nursery.

DS was up at 3am but DH took him, with a lot of grumbling - don't know why because he was blatantly not asleep (said the heat was keeping him awake). I had the morning those perfect mums have this morning - woke up early before DS, did a workout and cleaned the bathroom, then when DS did arise he was in a really good mood so everything went like clockwork. Going to cling onto this memory for the next few months because I definitely won't be getting another morning like this until August at least, when nursery reopens...

Motherofmonsters · 02/07/2021 09:18

Exactly like that @squishymama, time to get making I recon. Glad your morning is going well, it's great when you can get sorted before they wake.

I don't have any hobbies either @chocolatetrifle. I love reading but I never get around to it anymore, I listen to audiobooks while I clean etc but it's not quite the same as getting cosey with a real one.

I'm feeling better this morning, nothing like a good cry to get your head straight.

PinkDaydreams · 02/07/2021 10:02

@Motherofmonsters glad you're feeling a little better this morning, onwards and upwards for the rest of the day :)

I haven't any hobbies either, I don't seem to have the time! Although I do love reading, favourite author is Paige toon, she's just released another book which I'm going to buy once I've finished the book I'm on.

Son's conjunctivitis is back 😩 got rid of it last week and it's appeared again, frustrating as I was only in the doctor's yesterday with him. Mind you, the doctor wouldn't give me anything for it last time, just said keep cleaning with cool boiled water.

Starting getting ready for soft play this morning (there were 100 tickets left last night for the morning slot), went to book the ticket and they've sold out! I think today is going to be one of 'those' days.

OP posts:
Chocolatetrifle · 02/07/2021 10:25

My main hobby is getting everything to sleep and stay asleep.

I love reading too but never seem to be able to get to read at the moment!

Hope your son's conjunctivitis will clear again soon. It's one thing after another isn't it? Hope you enjoy the soft play @PinkDaydreams

How is your DS today @Motherofmonsters?
