@JohnnyMcGrathSaysFuckOff, good luck with taking all the DC out by yourself. Hope it goes well. Glad your DH had a good birthday. I find it stressful taking both mine out myself, DS1 ran off on me in the library yesterday and have to admit to getting a bit panicked when I couldn't see him as was sorting the books and DS2 was swinging around on his reins trying to in the other direction. He was safe in the children's section but it was one of those moments and I had to tell him sternly in front of the librarian not to run off on me.

Hope everyone is having a nice day. My DS1 was up at 5.20 despite not going asleep until 9 so I have been in a mood all morning Angry. Feel more human now Grin! Going out for a nice walk around some gardens in a bit then potter in the garden.

Any thoughts on Playmobil being good for a 4 year old? Can anyone recommend any sets? Just thinking ahead for Christmas.

My 3.5 year old is really getting into Playmobil now, I've bought a few sets for Christmas when he will be nearly 4. I've gone for the 4+ and will take out tiny pieces

Hi all! Sorry I've been silent for a while, no particular reason - just shattered. And we're in a "put DS to bed and binge watch Outlander until we need to collapse into bed" season, so my phone hasn't really been used much...

I can now add DS to the long list of our DCs with a cough, sigh. Will try and get a doctors app tomorrow, he's had it for ages but it seems to have gotten worse the past few days. I've been totally certain it's hay-fever, then a chest infection, then teething, and now I am kind of back to hay-fever.

We've had the laziest day ever today, DS woke at 5am and we watched TV until DH woke up at 8.30, then I went back to bed...and slept until 1pm Blush turns out DH and DS had also been asleep some of this time so we all woke up together. Have just been playing inside.

Next week is the last week of nursery before summer, DS is off a whole month!! Any ideas for what to do with a 16 month old? Grin DH is working half of summer too so I'm going to have to fill our days alone...bleh.

@JohnnyMcGrathSaysFuckOff hope your solo parenting day went well today!

Hope also all the illnesses and stomach bugs are getting better for you all.

Chocolatetrifle · 27/06/2021 16:21

@PinkDaydreams, I'll take a look at Playmobil definitely. Did you manage to get the sand bottles?

@squishymamma, glad you've caught up on some sleep. Sorry your DS is poorly still. Things are hard to shake off for the DC at the moment it seems.

Chocolatetrifle · 27/06/2021 16:30

@squishymamma, my DS2 is a couple of months older than your DS and he enjoys playdoh, crayoning, puffy stickers, blocks, simple puzzles and cog type puzzles and pretend play kits. Just a few things I can think of at the mo.

PinkDaydreams · 27/06/2021 20:15

@squishymamma my DS is the same and ineas also convinced hay fever but he's had a cough now for four weeks. He's had two different antihistamines, inhalers and still got a cough! Gp has said it's not an infection but she's calling me back tomorrow for an update. She said last week if there's no improvement then he will have to go for a chest X ray Sad
I hope you manage to get an appointment tomorrow, fingers crossed for you

Haven't caught up yet, but just need to say......

POO

OMG the poo.

So today tipped it down and DH decided he'd rather have his day off on a nicer day. Next weekend probs. We had a relaxed day at home, DD1 homework, rain walk to the park/woods, easy fish finger dinner.

But Jesus, the poo. Both twins had poo accidents in their pants and DT2 sat in it, so v messy.

Then at bedtime DD1 who is 6 ffs got off the loo without wiping properly so a "chunk" of poo fell off her bum and onto the floor... she then stepped in it and walked around the bathroom without noticing.

My THIRD hot wash of the day is therefore now on with her pj bottoms in it...... 《weeps》

JohnnyMcGrathSaysFuckOff · 27/06/2021 20:51

On Playmobil, the twins have vehicles and really like them. They are marketed as older but I just remove the titchy bits. GirlTwin has the horse transport vehicle and BoyTwin the red family car.

She frequently makes the horse or a random ghost figurine drive the rider around 😂

Another one to think about might be the chunkier Sylvanian Families stuff?

Or, one thing we did for Xmas was clear a little alcove area we had with a shelf in and buy a bunch of kitchen things to make a permanent toy kitchen area like at preschool. They love it. Will try to post a photo

JohnnyMcGrathSaysFuckOff · 27/06/2021 20:54

This is it set up on Xmas Eve!

Trapped toddler parents:"Where else can you post tuff tray pictures and moan about your husband?"
squishymamma · 28/06/2021 06:32

@JohnnyMcGrathSaysFuckOff that kitchen area is amazing! Good job. Sorry to hear about the day of poo, nobody warns you just how much poo you will have to deal with (and for how long....) before you're deep in it (pardon the pun).

Thanks for the suggestions @Chocolatetrifle!

We had a night of doom last night, DS went down quite happily at 7pm and slept til about 11.30...then was wide awake until 2am Confused I tried water, milk, a snack, rocking, singing, sitting by the cot, forcing him to lie down when he kept getting up, leaving him to cry. Nothing helped. Finally gave up at 2am and called in reinforcements...DH got him to sleep in 20 minutes Angry

Today we are trying to get a doctors appt, the phones don't open until 9 though. Currently watching kids TV and DS is all dressed and ready for the day. I somehow have to do a full days' work while entertaining him...bahaha. Then we have a BBQ at DH's auntie's new place, which will be amazing because MIL will be there and can look after DS the whole time, finally a rest!

Chocolatetrifle · 28/06/2021 20:57

How is everyone doing?

How is your DS now @squishymamma, did you manage to get to the doctor?

The kitchen arrangement looks fantastic@JohnnyMcGrathSaysFuckOff. I had a look at the Sylvania families and the little animal figure families look good. I might get one. Reminded me of my childhood too! I'm sure I had some. I got the boys a Care Bear each purely for my own nostalgia earlier this year.

We've had a decent day. DS1 had preschool had wasn't teary at all today so I'm pleased. We went to a little farm type playground cafe place this afternoon and it was surprisingly quiet. DS1 argued with me as to why I couldn't take him into the men's toilets. He was very upset he had to go into the ladies with me.

Hope everyone has a good night.

squishymamma · 29/06/2021 06:33

Morning!

Thanks for asking @Chocolatetrifle - had no appointments until 28th July so no luck there. Asked DM about it as my brother and sister have hay-fever and we came up with a list of things to try to rule out other things so I'll be working on that.

We had a nice day yesterday despite having to juggle DS and work, saw family at a barbecue in the evening which was really nice and tired DS out immensely, he didn't go to sleep until 8.30pm though...but slept through until 6!

Boring day today, nursery then the usual weekday routine of food, play, bed. Anyone got any more exciting plans?

Motherofmonsters · 29/06/2021 07:14

Morning everyone,

Both kids now have mega colds so I'm keeping them home and away from people just in case. DS keeps saying he's too poorly to go anywhere so must be feeling rubbish.

Not sure what we'll do today. Might set something up on the tuff tray later.

Chocolatetrifle · 29/06/2021 10:59

@Motherofmonsters, oh no, can't believe your DC both are full of cold again, whatever they are getting it's taking ages to shift at the moment it seems mine are the same.

Glad you had a nice day yesterday @squishymamma.

It's been raining here although stopped now. We've nipped to the shops as DS1 has decided he wants to spike his hair and wanted some gel, he is 3.8 going on 13 clearly.

We've just played with some water balloons, a little water bottle with a spray helps to make small ones rather than the garden tap so they don't end up completely drenched.

Motherofmonsters · 29/06/2021 11:19

It literally feels never ending, apparently there's loads of kids at his preschool off as well. There's been a couple positives so if they are the slightest bit ill in anyway they are not allowed in

PinkDaydreams · 29/06/2021 14:39

I'm the worlds worst mother, I genuinely thought it was going to rain today as it has been raining through the night and cloudy this morning. I haven't put suncream on ds for nursery and it's absolutely boiling with glorious sunshine! I feel awful!

Oh gosh all of our children really are struggling to shake off this cough/cold/bug, I've never known anything take so long to get rid of. I've been regularly covid testing ds for nursery.

Water balloons have been my favourite thing so far this year, they keep ds entertained for a while, I get to sit on the back step with a cuppa whilst filling them from the outdoor tap, theyve helped with colour recognition and number counting too Grin

OP posts:
Motherofmonsters · 29/06/2021 14:58

We've all done that @pinkdaydreams, I'm sure they would have topped them up with some.

I've just bribed the kids with ice cream so I can escape off for 5mins. It's been a quiet day but if I leave the room DD is instantly crying and shouting for me. I just need a few moments to myself.

Chocolatetrifle · 29/06/2021 15:14

Course you are not @PinkDaydreams, nursery will put the cream on don't worry at all!

How is your DS now with his cough?

How are your DC now @Motherofmonsters?

Got the propellers out now. DS2 just wants to open and close the shed door over and over and is also screaming a lot. I had forgotten this toddler stage I think, clearly had erased it from my mind.

PinkDaydreams · 29/06/2021 15:32

My son still has his cough, it's been four weeks now. Back to the doctor's on Thursday as she "wants to look at him before a chest X ray". I'll keep you all posted!

Propellers, I need to get some! The Asda ones I bought were rubbish. Is it the co op ones you have @Chocolatetrifle, I seem to remember they were rated highly?

OP posts:
Chocolatetrifle · 29/06/2021 15:42

@PinkDaydreams yes keep us updated with what she says. My DS1 has had 2 lots of antibiotics and he still has a slight cough now. Hope your DS feels better soon.

The co-op ones yes, they are back in stock! Although I've fallen out with the co-op after one of their staff knocked my DS1 over with one of their large stacking trolleys!

PinkDaydreams · 29/06/2021 15:43

I've just looked at the calendar and there's only two weeks left at nursery after this week! I really hope the swimming pools open back up in time for the holidays, I've really missed taking my son, we used to go every week. Seems round here it's just adult swimming at the moment, is that the case everywhere?

Oh my goodness that's awful!!! I hope they at least apologised to you and your son?!

drumst1ck · 29/06/2021 16:34

Hi all, sorry for being so absent. Tough few weeks here, just feeling very overwhelmed and it's resulting in me wanting to stay at home all day every day. I'm lucky, DS is a much easier baby than his sister was but 11 weeks of no sleep is starting to get to me now I think...

Anyways. I'm sure it will pass. Off on holiday next week so looking forward to that! Beautiful rainy, midgey Scotland. At least the kids will have their cousins there to entertain them so I don't have to!

drumst1ck · 29/06/2021 16:35

@PinkDaydreams you can book family swim here but it costs a fortune because they only let 4 families in the whole pool!
