I've now seen episode 6 of The Durrells. Thanks for not giving away the plot twist about Sven. That's such a bloody waste.

A crying shame.

I baked brownies earlier for a friend. I wish I’d baked extra to keep. They smell amazing.

Champagneforeveryone · 11/05/2021 00:24

Hmm, yes I do agree the Sven thing was a shame but as previously stated, my heart will always be with Theo Wink

I've got lots of overtime coming up. This is good for the pay cheque and particularly useful as the forecast is appalling.

Aside from that, there's stuff on the calendar. It's quite unnerving to have to check before I plan something, just in case there's a clash Grin

MissConductUS · 11/05/2021 01:35

I'm really liking Theo too. Spiro isn't my type. Too much shouting.

Overtime is fine as long as it doesn't drag on forever.

Oh, and this Hugh Jarvis chap bears watching. He seems to be a bit of a player.

My Dcat is not at all fussy about her food. She goes for quantity over quality. She's moulting at the moment, losing her glorious winter coat and ruff. There is fur everywhere. Thank goodness she only really does this twice a year.

Squirrel26 I've never seen your horse, but I feel I can state with confidence that no matter which end of him is your vantage point, he looks better than Boris.

HelenaJustina · 11/05/2021 06:07

@Spudlet I’m envious of your incredible sounding vegetable patch. I will never be able to achieve that! I can just about grow grass.

Welcome back @RhubarbFairy missed you!

The DC have been talking a lot about politics recently due to the local/regional elections. DC11 announced that they were voting ‘ABT’ (anyone but Tory) Grin

IWanderedLonely · 11/05/2021 07:36

Felt ridiculously pleased to see a coaltit on the bird table on Sunday - we had a cat for years, so only recently been getting birds.
I personally think Boris is brill, cheers me right up ( but as this is a dull & calming thread I shall mention him no more)

Champagneforeveryone · 11/05/2021 08:08

helena, it's fascinating that young people are so switched on and interested isn't it? At the age of 11 I suspect I didn't even know the PM's name, let alone what party they represented Blush

DS is studying A-level politics and is hoping to study politics at uni. Some of our conversations are decidedly one sided!

Silkiecats · 11/05/2021 12:57

Welcome back Rhubarb missed you

Hope all is OK with you Frownette as you have been quiet recently.

DH is home for lunch from work, kids at school, Silkiecat is now happy. DS said he is a secret Conservative but says he tells people he is Labour at school but says he is in awe of how hated Boris is.

Boris hair reminded me of when I was at university a guy asked me how I had voted in local elections. I said Liberal as the guy came round, appeared to care whereas the Conservative candidate didn't bother and looked like a right public school boy idiot from his hair. The guy then said that was me. Fortunately he found it really amusing.

Sunbird24 · 11/05/2021 16:27

Coming into work this morning, somebody going up the stairs behind me shouted me to ask if I’d dropped a £20 note they’d just picked up and I said no!! (because I hadn’t) 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️
Too flipping honest for my own good aren’t I?

soddingkitten · 11/05/2021 16:56

Someone came to my office today from one of our other offices. I had to escort him around the building to inspect various things. It was lovely to catch up as he is a nice guy. The fact he was even here cheered me up because it means things are slowly getting back to normal. He was not wearing a high vis jacket sadly.

Sodding is home alone today, perhaps for only the second or third time. I warned Lovely Neighbour in case he was a nuisance. According to her lunchtime update, he has only been in her kitchen catching up with her the usual amount and went straight out on patrol with Shyboy when Shyboy woke up from his morning nap. We have switched him to cheaper wet food because that’s what he likes at Shyboy’s. It’s going down a storm at home too.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 11/05/2021 18:52

Back from the surgeon - I may switch to sandals. The big toe is fully healed, the middle toe will need more time until it his back to normal. I got another physio prescription.

I got citrus and orange thyme, what lovely smells!

FourTurnings · 11/05/2021 18:57

I went for a run after work tonight. Found myself wondering, are bluebells actually purple?

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 11/05/2021 21:09

They are a dark blue with a tinge of green to me.

sproutsandparsnips · 11/05/2021 21:54

I have been following the thread on and off but have had exams - the last one went badly, I lost the plot big time although the practice one had gone really well! Have to wait till next week for results and have last one tomorrow - I've exhausted the revision I can take in now. Can't wait until I can think about other th8ngs and take advantage of our increased freedoms.
I know what you mean Champagneforeveryone - I am actually writing on my calendar for the first time in ages!
Nice to hear things are normalising slightly Soddingkitten
Thought you meant sprouts as in Brussels for a minute MissConductUS!

Silkiecats · 12/05/2021 00:26

Just ordered a chicken swing from Omlet and got a its on its way message with a 🐔 driving a van.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 12/05/2021 06:01

Good morning!
Temperature is down again.
Tomorrow is Himmelfahrt, Father's Day and Bayram leading into a long weekend.

theDudesmummy · 12/05/2021 08:16

I guess this actually exciting news, but I am getting my first vaccine today.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 12/05/2021 08:42

@theDudesmummy Flowers Yay!

Spudlet · 12/05/2021 09:15

@sproutsandparsnips Sad to the exam. Maybe it won’t be as bad as you think? I’ve definitely had ones where I came out of the room in despair and then actually they weren’t a total disaster.

@theDudesmummy Exciting times! 👍👍

I sent DS today in his official PE shorts for the first time. There was a school uniform shortage in September so they didn’t arrive in time for him to wear them while the weather was still warm. They are MASSIVE. I have never seen anything like it - there’s room for him and a friend in there 🙈 I have put a spare pair in his book bag in case the official ones just descend of their own accord 🤣🙈🙈🙈

Silkiecats · 12/05/2021 09:19

We had the opposite issue with pe shorts. DS is tiny and we ordered him a small pair and when they arrived they were only big enough to fit a smallish teddy so Teddy 🧸 got new PE shorts.

Champagneforeveryone · 12/05/2021 10:27

DS had his second driving lesson last night and can now turn left and right. He's so ridiculously proud of this achievement it made me smile Smile

MissConductUS · 12/05/2021 12:12

Welcome, @sproutsandparsnips, and thanks for sharing your unfortunate exam news. Perhaps others have struggled with it too and they'll grade it on a curve. Do they do that in the UK?

Sorry for the confusion over "sprouts". I can't stand Brussel sprouts. They taste like sulfur to me. To clear up any remaining confusion, and because we all love pictures I've attached a close-up of the container that has plants coming up, a picture of the early garden line up, and one that shows two of the hanging baskets I got for mothers day. The tree foliage is also coming in nicely.

Good luck with your jab today @theDudesmummy.

Champagne, it's terrifying when they start driving, isn't it?

I had a chat with the Orthopedist yesterday. He's seen my MRI report and the partial ligament tear that was noted in 2019 is no longer evident. That means that either this radiologist just missed it or that my ongoing pain in the hip is a chronically inflamed bursa, which can be removed with no long term loss of function. He seemed reluctant to pursue surgery. We argued discussed it a bit and have now seemed to compromise on removing the bursa and having him do a visual inspection of the ligament, and repairing it if necessary.

He was quite nice about it, but I think he was a bit unused to discussing the matter with a patient who understands the anatomy of the area and the surgical options as well as he does especially when said patient is a woman. Smile

I’m on strike... in reality this means that I am taking 20 minutes of my 30 minute unpaid lunch break for the first time this academic year I’m having a bit of a sense of humour failure. Cup of tea, 5 minutes peace and a chocolate biscuit will hopefully soothe my sufficiently so that I don’t either cry or shout at someone.

MissConductUS · 12/05/2021 13:52

Helena, a cup of tea and a chocolate biscuit isn't much of a lunch. Is that all you're having?
