My goodness, we've had a message deleted. That's certainly a rare occurrence on these threads.

Squirrel, it's always tricking switching a pet to a new variety of food. The last time I did it I went to the pet store and bought single cans in a variety of flavors from different brands my vet suggested and tested them at home until we had one all the cats liked.

Years ago I read about just how rubbish the big supermarket brands of pet food are and just how vile the "meat byproducts" could be. It was worth upgrading to a better brand to keep them healthier. The vet always comments on how lovely their coats look when they go in and how they're thriving.

We wound up getting a takeaway from a pretty posh place for mothers day dinner last night. I had lobster rolls.

At last at Last! Got a phone call appointment about the results of my ECHO - it seems the left lower chamber is enlarged (due to high BP ) it is overworked. So I will be able to see a cardio person and also get more water tablets as I still have liquid in lungs. So now they are taking this seriously I am feeling better (well... not literally you know...).

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 10/05/2021 17:12

@Deathraystare - it's a start and will hopefully lead to a good outcome!

A beautiful day here - I wanted to visit a Gartencenter after work but my foot wanted to go home and rest.

Yes - that's what we had to do. One of my cats has IBS or something similar, so he can only tolerate really dull single-protein foods, which of course he doesn't want to eat, so we tried loads. Once we found one he liked we put it on subscribe from Amazon, which is so much easier.

What I particularly love about my cats is that they adore DS, and at 6am they sing outside his bedroom door for breakfast. My room is at the opposite corner of the house so I'm undisturbed. I feel like I'm winning at parenting for once :-)

MissConductUS · 10/05/2021 18:30

We ulitimately settle on a brand called Wellness, for both wet and dry food. The cats love it, our vet swears by it, and it looks like it's available in the UK:

My DH caught some trout.

Silkiecats · 10/05/2021 20:03

My DH caught some cod but only from the fish and chip shop. Had fish, chips and beans tonight.

Dh now at his piano lesson.

Fence mended today.

Hope you are feeling better Sunbird and got home OK.

Squirrel26 · 10/05/2021 20:07

Bought the dog a small bag of the food her used to eat until the day he decided he didn’t like it any more. Hmm It has impeccable high quality meat-grain free—wheat free-no artificial preservatives-low allergen credentials.

Plus he’s decided it’s acceptable to eat again. Bonus. Grin

Hunger is the best sauce. Well done.

DS had fish and chips when we got the takeaway last night. Perhaps he's secretly British. Grin

We're having homemade pizza tonight.

I just saw a picture of Boris Johnson. Would it be unreasonable to say that his hair is rediculous, bordering on a national disgrace?

OP posts:
Squirrel26 · 10/05/2021 20:32

My horse's mane looks quite like Boris Johnson's hair. It's all blond and floppy and grows in multiple directions at once.

In all other respects my horse is FAR better looking than Boris Johnson.

FourTurnings · 10/05/2021 20:36

To be honest it wouldn’t be difficult.

theDudesmummy · 10/05/2021 20:40

I left the UK last year partially as a result of revulsion of Johnson.

The trout will be cooked tomorrow, tonight is sausages.

theDudesmummy · 10/05/2021 20:57

I suspect that should be revulsion by Johnson?

Spudlet · 10/05/2021 21:23

@MissConductUS I think to say it’s only bordering on being a national disgrace is being rather kind, tbh.

@theDudesmummy Revulsion at, perhaps? Whichever, I sympathise. The man brings me out in hives.

MissConductUS · 10/05/2021 21:24

Welcome, @FourTurnings, and thanks for sharing your bojo news and views. Trump wasn't much of a looker either. Based on the little I know about Johnson, I think Trump was also the bigger idiot.

@theDudesmummy, are you still outside the UK? If so, any plans to go back at some point?

The baby’s nails need a trim. I’m going to try her on spaghetti hoops later this week.
The cat has a bit of a limp.

Happyschool · 10/05/2021 21:32

I wish I’d been following this thread as remember it once before and it was so calming and companiable.

I have been spending a lot of time inspecting my young plants and noticing daily growth. We had a drama as a gooseberry branch got hit by something and it’s halved my plant .

Other news is the woodpeckers are very greedy and eat the nuts within two days. I saw two at once there this morning.

FourTurnings · 10/05/2021 21:42

Thanks MissConduct

RhubarbFairy · 10/05/2021 21:46

I've been gone for weeks. Just popping on to say hello and mark my place ready for a leisurely catch up in the morning.

Have thought of you all lots.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 10/05/2021 22:02

rhubarb Hi!

DH remembered to take the chickpeas from the oven - very much just in time. The stench when he forgets is horrible.

I have a final appointment with the foot surgeon tomorrow, I hope he renews the physio prescription.

theDudesmummy · 10/05/2021 22:04

In Ireland and will be staying here. I would love to visit London ( my home town) but never moving from the gorgeous west of Ireland

Spudlet · 10/05/2021 22:09

I have managed to plant my vegetable patch today. We now have leeks, marrows, peas, courgettes and aubergine planted and carrot seeds sown. I have some potatoes chitting as well, but we will be growing them in bags. DS had a VE Day party at school today, so I got him to help and told him we were digging for victory.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 10/05/2021 22:20

I tried potatoes in a bag last year - to see if I can do it. I got 5 kg of lovely potatoes - put I don't have the space for more.

MissConductUS · 10/05/2021 23:09

Welcome, @Sobloodyexhausted, and thanks for sharing your infant and feline news. I'm at one with your cat, as I also walk with a limp these days. I'm having surgery for a torn ligament in my hip this summer.

@RhubarbFairy, so lovely to see you dear! Thanks for checking in.

@Champagneforeveryone, I've now seen episode 6 of The Durrells. Thanks for not giving away the plot twist about Sven. That's such a bloody waste.

@theDudesmummy, you had mentioned being in Ireland previously. Sorry that slipped my mind.

@Spudlet, I'm starting tomatoes and bell peppers on the deck, along with lots of wildflowers. I already have some sprouts.

The well-trained men are making pizza while I lounge on my laptop. How sweet it is. Grin
