@frownette
Intrigued - What did you neighbour want?
My NDN's usually call in daytime to get their parcels, ask for an egg or a charger - the usual neighbour stuff. When they call at night, there is a problem - accident, illness or a police matter.

IWanderedLonely · 30/04/2021 07:30

Frownette that's awful. Is he drink or anything?
Today is cold & sunny but I overslept and have no time for a run.
I shall be buying a latte as my Friday treat on the way to work.

Frownette · 30/04/2021 07:33

Well he wants cash or a cigarette. I've stopped smoking and rarely have cash on me as I pay by card so it's a bit pointless and makes me annoyed.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 30/04/2021 07:43

frownette
That kind of neighbour .... I'd probably be very outspoken.
Did you get rid of them?

Spudlet · 30/04/2021 09:12

DS has given us a cold (no nasty symptoms and DH did a negative test this morning). He of course is over it and is full of beans, while DH and I begin to slide down into it... 😑

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 30/04/2021 11:14

Back from the hairdresser. I am no longer a Shetland pony impersonater.

Champagneforeveryone · 30/04/2021 12:10

Bravo for the hair cut prok, DS is going this afternoon after college and DH tomorrow. DH has ill advisedly hacked away around his ears which gives him the impression of wearing an old fashioned motorcycle helmet so its long overdue.

Bad news on the cold spudlet. Work have some new data that says the rates of winter flu / colds is dramatically less due to our Covid secure measures. Taking out absence due to Covid, sickness is apps at an all time low Confused

MissConductUS · 30/04/2021 14:32

I gave up Catholic guilt for Lent about 40 years ago and haven't seen it since. I must have misplaced it. Grin

Frownette, that's really annoying. He wakes you up to sponge a bit of cash or a cigarette? I'd tell him you'll ring the police if he does it again.

My appointment with the orthopedic surgeon went quite well. The ligament is not completely torn but there may be other problems as well, like an inflamed bursa. As I anticipated he wants a new MRI study, which I've booked for next Wednesday at one of their offices. It's a big, integrated medical practice with over 200 doctors, their own radiology facilities, labs for most tests, etc. I liked the bloke, which is important.

I have a pork loin roast, I have never cooked one before, am aiming for crackling to die for....

Silkiecats · 30/04/2021 15:23

I had my covid vaccine around 11.30am then went to the lido for a swim in my wetsuit then had a McDonalds then came back.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 30/04/2021 15:32

It is cold, grey and ugly here. I am still wearing my winter coat.

My NDN came over with a bunch of flowers - we fed and cuddled their cats.

The work on our cellar walls and on the foundations are almost finished. None of the workmen every wore hi viz. I feel cheated.

MissConductUS · 30/04/2021 15:51

That's great news Silkie, which jab did you get?

OP posts:
Silkiecats · 30/04/2021 15:51

AZ, its almost always AZ here. DH had AZ.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 30/04/2021 17:19

Here it is BioNTech, usually, as AZ is only about 23% of all available doses. DS had BioNTech and as yet no side effects - I told him they are not compulsory.

MissConductUS · 30/04/2021 17:29

In the US I'd guess it is 60% Pfizer/BioNTech, 35% Moderna and 5% J&J. Big vaccination sites and pharmacies are getting the mRNA jabs and the J&J vaccine is being directed to hard to reach cohorts.

Good point about the side effects, Prok. Smile

I almost killed the supermarket basil plant, but a good and very overdue watering sorted it out.

Now to repot it.

HelenaJustina · 30/04/2021 17:54

A friend took part in one of the vaccine trials, when she was ‘unblinded’ by the physician he said that the rate of reported side effects was virtually the same in the vaccinated group vs the placebo group (who were injected with saline).

Silkiecats · 30/04/2021 18:01

The NHS just cancelled my second vaccine saying I didn't go to the first one. Confused It'll only let me book two more not one but that'll make 3 doses. Shock

Squirrel26 · 30/04/2021 21:09

I once got an email telling me that I hadn't attended for my Occupational Health appointment as I was sitting in the waiting room waiting to be called in for my Occupational Health appointment.

I'd have been less annoyed, but they had told me I needed to come (for a rabies vaccine. Long story.) Then when I FINALLY got in there they told me I didn't need it. Hmm

Silkiecats · 01/05/2021 00:15

I think the system is very confused - it now is saying you've had a first vaccine but it wasn't through us (yes it was) so we are not letting you book a second one. Try your GP or hospital if they gave you the first one (nope).

I once had two letters arrive the same day from the NHS one cancelling my appointment and one making it both for same day same time same person. I phoned and they said they had no idea why it was cancelled as it was going ahead. Confused

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 01/05/2021 07:46

Good morning from the cold and grey place - this is May!
I think I will do some cleaning when I've finished my coffee.

Silkiecats · 01/05/2021 07:54

Good morning - birds singing here.

Yesterday I saw a duckling swimming by itself with some ducks and a swan by the river by the vaccine place.

Had Chinese last night, sweet and sour king prawns which were huge with special fried rice. And had a coke with ice cream then a milkshake.

I feel very thirsty with the vaccine and a bit sleepy but otherwise fine, much better than DH was.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 01/05/2021 08:10

DS reports - as yet - no side effects at all.

The workmen are finally done with the cellar walls. Let's hope the bin men notice and start collecting properly again.

Spudlet · 01/05/2021 08:13

As it is the first of May, I shall now recite the traditional Mayday poem of one Jilly Cooper

(Anyone offended by bad language may wish to scroll on at this point)

[clears throat]

First of May, first of May,
Outdoor fucking starts today.
But as usual, it do rain!
So we fucks off indoors again.

[takes a bow]

soddingkitten · 01/05/2021 08:30

I found Sodding head down with his back paws resting on the seat drinking out of the bathroom toilet this morning. 🤦‍♀️
