Good morning.
Still wet and cool here. I'm off to the office soon to get some work done.
I need a new headset.
DS has his vacc today. DH will go with him to help him stay calm.

I woke up early due to a bizarre dream about leading a polar expedition. I hope this isn’t predictive as I have Reynaud’s and so would not fare well in Arctic conditions Confused

theDudesmummy · 29/04/2021 07:34

I also have Reynaud's. But I have been to the Arctic twice (once Canada, once Sweden, both in winter). You just wear those self-heating pads inside your gloves and boots. I was fine. So if you do get the call to lead an expedition you can go...

Sunbird24 · 29/04/2021 07:42

I have Raynauds too!

theDudesmummy · 29/04/2021 09:33

I used to ski quite a lot when I was younger (not sure will ever do again, have recently broken my wrist nd I would be really scared of doing that again). Without the self-heating pads for both hands and feet it would not have been possible. The pain in fingers and toes if I don't use them is pretty much unbearable. With them, I could ski all day.

HelenaJustina · 29/04/2021 10:00

I was ill-prepared in my dream which led me to reject the idea. But @theDudesmummy has given me hope that should BAS call me up, I’ll be ready to lead...

I mostly have my Reynaud’s under reasonably good control (better than I used to) but it requires a level of self-care which is not always top of the list!

Finally, DH’s medical electric bed will be delivered tomorrow, however the sulky protests of Mr Elderly Springer Spaniel will be registered. DH’s bed is Spaniel’s favourite afternoon snooze spot, the luxury of a queen bed, with sun spot is his place of choice. No doubt if he had the capacity he would be contacting the dog welfare charities and writing letters to his MP.... queen bed will be removed for the new double electric bed.

He will have to put up with his two baskets ( one indoor by fire, one on covered deck strategically placed for sun) soft leather sofa, leather chaise or the floor... poor dog!

Silkiecats · 29/04/2021 12:03

Poor dog, our cat has her own single bed and a dog will be bigger so a queen bed seems only right. At our old house the cat had her own bedroom with single bed, cat bed. Here she has a single bed, cat bed, food bowl and water bowl next to bed though not her own room. Our bed is also super low as the cat couldn't jump on it before.

I also had an odd dream last night. I dreamt that we had moved to a flat in Boston, but I had trouble getting a key to it and finding somewhere to eat breakfast. I have no idea where that came from.

I have my appointment with the orthopedic surgeon this afternoon to discuss my ligament repair surgery. I'm armed with a CD-ROM that has the images of my MRI scan of the hip in 2018 and the radiologist's report. He may want a new MRI.

It's raining here, again. The good news is that the trees have started to sprout green leaves, so the view from the deck no longer looks like winter.

I am tired. I have to go horse riding between now and having dinner so I’m having some oatcakes because that’s a thing ‘they*’ recommend for ‘slow release energy.’

Nydj · 29/04/2021 16:39

@MissConductUS, was it 28 degree centigrade?! That’s way too hot for me - I am only comfortable when it is 21-24°C although I am better with cooler temps now due to regular hot flushes.

I went for a walk this afternoon as I missed my morning walk.

Nydj · 29/04/2021 16:43

@HelenaJustina, you’d be an excellent leader of anything - just reading your posts about what you do on a day to day basis has me in awe! Where do you get the energy?

MissConductUS · 29/04/2021 16:48

Nydj, yes it was 28 degrees C yesterday. It's raining and back down to 18 degrees today, so it was just a one day hot spell. We're hoping to get the AC sorted in the next week or two. One of the two coils is going to have to be replaced. Fortunately, the part is still under warranty, but we'll have to pay for the labor. AC is more of a necessity than a luxury for us, so no choice about having it fixed really.

I'm off to the surgeon's office in a bit.

@Nydj from a nagging sense of inferiority and under achievement, with a dash of Catholic guilt...

HelenaJustina · 29/04/2021 16:52

Thank you for the lovely compliment though! Smile

Spudlet · 29/04/2021 17:11

We just had parents evening. DS is doing well at some things but struggling a bit with focus and with some of the social skills side of things, and as he’s quite reluctant to do adult led things they do struggle to get him to show what he can do sometimes as well. Hey ho. Just emailed his speech therapist to start that again and also sent an email to his teacher with some things that helped DS to focus at home which I didn’t think of on the call.

Bless him, it’s never straightforward is it...?

Silkiecats · 29/04/2021 17:36

Having fish and chips tonight from the fish and chip shop.

Champagneforeveryone · 29/04/2021 18:10

According to the app my period is late. According to the app I last had a period in 1986 chance would be a fine thing

I suspect the app may not be working at peak performance.

Squirrel26 · 29/04/2021 20:35

1986? That is late. Grin

Dog walker tells me the dog has been to the canine equivalent of a toddler group (dog is not a toddler but she has one that is so she took him along) and to the country park for 1.5 hours. One might think the dog would be tired. He’s actually running around like an idiot because a Labrador just went past. Hmm

Silkiecats · 29/04/2021 21:50

Made 3 sets of pencil pleat curtains for the living room, now just have to hang them. Changed bedding. DS has had a bath. Getting things ready for vaccine tomorrow. DH said you are surely not going to vaccine in a wetsuit, I said I am and you can come as well in a wetsuit. Grin He seemed OK with that.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 29/04/2021 21:57

helena never underestimate catholic guilt.
DS had his 1st vacc today.
I spent 10 h at work checking construction invoices.
Rainy here.

Frownette · 29/04/2021 22:03

Prok I have Catholic guilt and I'm not even Catholic.

Squirrel26 · 29/04/2021 22:30

If wearing a wetsuit just check you can expose your upper arm!

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 30/04/2021 05:50

frownette But do you fear your saint and ancestors will take action against you? Grin

Why does it have to turn even colder and wetter when it is my day off?
I am getting a test and then a haircut and then (drum roll) I will enter a non essential shop and buy wool and a clothes airer.

Frownette · 30/04/2021 05:57

Prok err they might do?! Depends how vengeful they feel! Weather is vaguely ok here, despite being England, sorry it's bad there.

My neighbour called round at 1.30am last night, I swear if he does that one more time I'll call the police
