I would love a boat Frownette hope you get a boat and get to go out to sea.

Hope you get some well deserved rest Helena You always seem to work so hard.

I've just been doing the accounts. DH is out driving DD to meet up with some old friends. I'm still trying to find who owns the unused land by us but seems unregistered. We asked our neighbour and he said just take it Easter Shock

soddingkitten · 24/04/2021 12:23

Buy the camera Champagne. It is cheaper than Disney+ over time and 10x more uplifting.

Sodding caught his third sparrow of the week this morning and brought it in to show each of us in turn. 😕 As DH shooed him out into the garden with it, the sparrow broke free with a raucous yell and took wing. Last seen in flight 3 gardens away. I hope it survives. 🤞

I am wrestling 10 evenings’ research into a 10 minute interview presentation. I had a Danish pastry earlier to help me power through. I’ve had a breakthrough on the structure.

soddingkitten · 24/04/2021 12:25

Postscript: I bought lazy ginger for a marinade because life is too short for peeling and grating ginger. (Dullness is restored)

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 24/04/2021 12:42

Danish pastry = off to google: Plunderteilchen - DH loves them

It is still under 10°C here.

Silkiecats · 24/04/2021 12:53

It's 15C and sunny here.

Silkiecats · 24/04/2021 14:28

Having a cup of tea and French custard flan from the bakers. Then will have a late lunch with the aligot and leeks and the boys will have aligot and sausages. DD is out with her friends all day.

I'm looking at all the Vanguard funds, all new to me.

MissConductUS · 24/04/2021 16:22

@Champagneforeveryone, I'm really glad we got ours. The Ring kit is really good quality, and there's a nice app for your phone for controlling everything and seeing the video. Mine alerts me if it picks up motion at the front door or the upper driveway. You can even talk to anyone you see on camera, like "Oi! What are you doing in my garden mate?" Grin It's also very easy to add an alarm system and other bits as you go along.

The outdoor cameras with floodlights will give you the best videos at night and the lights will deter people tresspasing. DH decided to get an electrician to install it all because the floodlight cameras have to be connected your electrical mains and the video doorbell needs to go on your doorbell wiring. I'd stay away from anything that runs on batteries only as they're a bother to change. Electricians are also good at installing things like that neatly.

It's 20 degrees here. I've done a clean-out of the big garage fridge. There are some things in there that we don't eat much with DD gone. Lord knows when we'll see her here next. Hopefully, we can go up to Massachusetts to visit or bring her back here for a long weekend.

Silkie, the Vanguard funds are tops. My retirement account at work is with Vanguard and I've had other investments with them for ages. They have great customer service and really low costs. A+ all around.

Finally got news that I am being referred for an ECHO. Also a phone appointment by Gp which is all I ever get!) re BP and my lung infection. It has only been going on since March! Very hard trying to get a Drs appointment :( Still there are people worse off than me for sure.

When I get home from work I really must do some laundry. Since I have had the lung infection I have been really slow so it is hard to get round to doing things.

When my toenails grow again I am going to a podiatrist or whatever as it is quite hard to cut my own nails. I keep hurting the skin around them as I cannot clearly see where I am cutting. I know it costs around £45 now but it will be worth it. Funnily enough I went for interview there a few years back. I hope they don't remember me as I was rather shite....

Frownette · 24/04/2021 21:09

I accidentally flirted with a youngster of 20 earlier - he's like a Labrador puppy, very bright and enthusiastic, we chat sometimes, usually about his study and he dyes his hair different colours.

I was just walking past his work earlier when he came out of the side door and said hello sweetheart. So I waved back as I was wearing a facemask. Then he said I'm not following you, don't worry, so I said over my shoulder: I wish you would, that would make my day more exciting.

I am officially a floozy now. The curse of the middle aged.

MissConductUS · 24/04/2021 22:37

Frownette, I don't think for a minute that your flirting was accidental. Grin

There's nothing wrong with a bit of flirtation as long as it's not in the workplace. I've seen that go wrong many times.

I just listened to the BBC World Service with Sue Montgomery. She sounds a bit posh but nice.

The men are making burgers and there's some leftover mac & cheese in the fridge to go with them. The trees are starting to green up, but the pollen is horrible. I tried taking a nap and woke up coughing from it.

We're going to the beach!

DH and I, DDog1 (happy and generally well behaved) and DDog2 (hysterical and highly strung). We're taking a bus and walking back to the car along the coast path, culminating at the beach.

This is A Big Deal as we normally avoid taking DDog2 anywhere like this due to her lawless ways. In a fit of uncharacteristic optimism though DH decided we should take them both on holiday on a canal boat, so we need to get a grip.

Wish us luck Confused

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 25/04/2021 08:16

@Champagneforeveryone - Have a lovely day!

Silkiecats · 25/04/2021 08:26

Have a lovely day at the beach Champagne

Glad you got your medical appointments Death

Lovely day here but just Sunday lunch, bins and cleaning chickens planned with sofa covers if time.

Next day out if Friday though the weather is predicted to be rubbish then, that is heated lido and my covid first vaccine. Then week later DH has has second one.

Frownette · 25/04/2021 08:46

Weather's nice @Champagneforeveryone, enjoy!

I must get home today, I've been taking care of relative since Friday.

Spudlet · 25/04/2021 09:22

ShockGrin @Frownette Grin

Enjoy the beach @Champagneforeveryone - may the force be with you and Hysterical Dog (we have one of those too at times...)

I am feeling a bit woozy this morning as I was very deeply asleep when DS crashed into the room - I had to leap straight out of bed so DH could have his lie in (he does the same for me on a Saturday). Then ddog was hysterical downstairs because he needed to go out - because he stole half of my carrot cake yesterday 😑 Now DS is quoting the entire script of the bit in Toy Story 2 where Stinky Pete kidnaps Woody, complete with accents and dramatic intonation but not with all the words (he fills in any words he can’t remember with ‘blahmehblah’ noises) while he builds Lego with DH and I am trying to come around properly.

theDudesmummy · 25/04/2021 10:22

I am having a lie-in. I got my summer tops out of storage yesterday, need to hang them in the cupboard. I read a restaurant review in a UK Sunday paper and felt very jealous (we have no idea when restaurants will open here).

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 25/04/2021 10:35

Nothing open here, too (emergency brake). But it is cold and grey anyway and I stll can't walk very far.

So I read, calm the owl, and eat chocolate.

Frownette · 25/04/2021 11:16

@Spudlet he'd make a rubbish stalker, he's so non threatening! If he pretended to follow me I'd have a fit of hysterical giggles.

How are the feet? And Prok's?

@theDudesmummy I find it hard to keep up with where other countries are with COVID, really dismayed about India. I don't tend to go to pubs or cafes but I wish the museum and libraries were open. 17 May in England.

I really like my doctor, who else would be interested in my platelets? It's like free licence to discuss my platelet activity :) Talking about when things reopen reminded me of that as she wants to do F2F next time. I thought what manner of beast is this, in person?! It's all been so strange having a pandemic.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 25/04/2021 12:21

@Frownette
Thank you for asking, the foot is getting better. Physio is a painful experience, but the results are great - and I do my homework.

Spudlet · 25/04/2021 13:02

Whisper it softly, but right now the Grumbly Foot seems placated to the extent that I start marathon training next week, so long as it isn’t too cross about my long run today. Sitting with an ice pack on it but only as a preventative measure - it actually feels fine. But a bit of icing never hurts. 🤞🤞🤞 it will continue to behave!

Thanks for asking @Frownette and glad yours is also doing well @Prokupatuscrakedatus! 🦶

HelenaJustina · 25/04/2021 13:11

Having divided and conquered yesterday, I arbitrarily decided we would have Family Time today. So we all went on a 4.5 mile footpath/fields walk straight after Mass which has resulted in peace now... lasagna for Sunday lunch which is in the oven and I need to iron the school uniforms instead of fannying around on MN.

MissConductUS · 25/04/2021 13:32

It sounds like everyone is having a lovely Sunday. I've put my plants back out on the deck yesterday as it's supposed to warm up this week (28 on Wednesday!). As you can see my aloe plant survived the winter and is starting to flower. The flowers are a bit hard to see, but they're right above the railing in the first picture.

The first picture was taken yesterday before dinner, the second this morning while raining. The foreground shows one of our cat lounge areas where they can like in the sun. The cat bed stuck to the window is very popular.

My allergies are still acting up. I may run up to the warehouse club after Zoom church, then our weekly Zoom meeting with DD and MIL tonight at 5:00. It's supposed to clear up later so I may take a look at what needs doing in the garden.

@spudlet - great that your foot lets you do marathon practice again!!

I am allowed to use the stationary bike provided I concentrate on the bad foot. Apparently that is good for reducing the swelling.

amigababy · 25/04/2021 15:23

Frownette I've played all my life until 10 years ago when I sold the old piano. But I hardly ever had lessons, and never did exams, just pootled along on my own. So I have many bad habits Smile. Now I'm finally getting back into it properly.

Happy wedding anniversary thedudesmummy!!

amigababy · 25/04/2021 15:30

Have a great day at the beach Champagne!! Has it stayed warm? It's gone a bit cool here now.

It was warm when I did another spell of taming the out of control garden ( it is so satisfying!)
Time for tennis on TV now. Rafa has not started well Sad
( the purple "sad" matches Rafa's pink and purple outfit for this season though)
