What word is my speech delayed daughter saying?

My dd4 has a speech delay, she’s trying her hardest to tell me about her friend at school but she keeps saying “Sharon” and when I repeat the name she is getting angry because it’s not right! I can’t think what it could be!

Help me lol it’s driving both of us insane!

Could she have the syllables mixed up?

My DS used to get the sounds right, but mix up the order iyswim, so 'Bobby' became 'BeeBor'.

Does she get her S right? Could it be Aaron with a mistaken Sh at the start?

Is it definitely a girl?

Sawan is a boys name?

I heard Sharon first, but thought that's not very common these days.

Shannon?

Ask the teacher if the girl is in your DD's class

But I'd guess at Sarah, Seren, siobhan, Sian, Sadie, Sadie, Saadiyah, - however with the wonderful names people have these days including lovely international names as we are multi cultural community, it could be something entirely different to anything most of us could guess!

Ciaran/Kieran? Devon? My daughter was under SLT til she was almost 6, and sometimes we had strange variations, so a name that ends 'ran' or 'ren' but a very different start? Siobhan perhaps?

Ask another parent?

We’ve just got to the bottom of the boy called ‘Gail’ at our school.

It’s Gill with a Scottish accent.

Have you asked her what her last name is op? In case it rings any bells with you. Ds3 quite astounded me the other day by listing off lots of his friends surnames, I had no idea he would know!

I've had many of these conversations with children who don't have a speech delay!

It's pretty usual for 4 year olds - let alone after the year we've had!
