What's the funniest name you've heard of for a family pet?

A friend told me today that they've finally named their new Shih tzu puppy who they got a week ago. He's gorgeous and fluffy and they've chosen the name Monkey! I know it's none of my business but I really don't think that name suits him and it sounds a little bit silly... but it's kinda cute at the sane time I guess!

A hamster called Butch, he was very sweet.

Also heard someone shouting for their dog, called Beckham in the mid 2000s.

My uncle had two dogs - Arthur Scargill and Leeds United. As a girl, I was embarrassed taking them out when I went round there, because they had absolutely no recall and I hated having to yell their names when they disappeared Grin

I used to name my goldfish after pairs of characters in coronation street. I had jack & Vera and Percy & Phyllis.

Tulipmonster · 10/04/2021 23:05

My friend’s Labrador was called Isis, which got awkward to yell in the park after the terrorist group became a household name...

CityCommuter · 10/04/2021 23:07

@Scarby9

Beelzebunny - a rabbit that had to be handled while wearing gauntlets. Decidedly not a cuddly pet.
A friend of mine renamed their rabbit Beelzebub after it chewed through their gold plated speaker cables. I think it started off as Fluffy.

Another friend is a dogsitter and has a pug named Frida Kahlo on his books.

SmashedAvocado · 10/04/2021 23:46

An old neighbour had a Rottweiler called Cuddles.

We have a cat called Puss. She started out as Marmite (pure black cat), then Coco. Wouldn’t answer to either but Puss she answered to straightaway. I do tend to hiss it rather than shout it when I’m calling her in. We don’t ever call her Pussy though!

We used to have a fish called Fishy and an orange tabby cat called Marmalade. Not very original with pet names.

GeidiPrimes · 10/04/2021 23:52

I met a dog called Christine yesterday.

When I was at school a friend had a cat called Barpy Dan the Beanfoot Rustler. He was a lovely chill Burman with epilepsy (managed well).
