What's the funniest name you've heard of for a family pet?

A friend told me today that they've finally named their new Shih tzu puppy who they got a week ago. He's gorgeous and fluffy and they've chosen the name Monkey! I know it's none of my business but I really don't think that name suits him and it sounds a little bit silly... but it's kinda cute at the sane time I guess!

I've mentioned this before. A dog in my town is called Eileen. I love seeing her out for a walk with her owner. And it makes my day when she dawdles and he says "come on, Eileen."

These are great. I rehome a lot of rescue cats. I like to give them "human" names. Harry, Jemima, Marcella, Jenny, Paul, Steve, David, Anthony, Bill, Clement, Edward, Pacey, Wendy, Owen... They're the latest lot. I will come back to this thread for inspiration.

@Tulipmonster The first company I worked for was called Isis. I've just taken it off my CV!

My tabby cat is called Merkin. It wasn't planned- she started out with a very tame name but just grew into a 'Merkin' and now that's what she answers to. My children don't really get it but it still cheers me up every time

TartanDMs · 11/04/2021 00:18

My sister had a fish tank with about 30 tiny tropical fish, she named them all after characters in musicals. So she had Christine, Erik, Carlotta, Raoul, Firman, Cosette, Marius, Fantine... etc. I did find it slightly funny that some of them were characters from Cats - a tetra called Rumtumtugger Grin

DiscordandRhyme · 11/04/2021 00:20

Two bulldogs called Benson and Hedges.

BloodyHellAudrey · 11/04/2021 00:20

WingingItSince1973 · 11/04/2021 00:22

Not that exciting but we had a cat called Moriarty or Arty for short. Sadly he was pts last November. We always nickname our animals (and children) so his name inevitability became farty! Yes we are childish. We have 5 other cats. One fluffy boy called Pablo who we call pablova (no idea why). Molly is moo, Nala is woowah, sonny is sunshine, Ellie is Bella. 2 dogs one called poppy also known as doodles and Dolly we call Dolver. Yep we all cuckoo here 🤣

SkiingIsHeaven · 11/04/2021 00:22

WingingItSince1973 · 11/04/2021 00:23

NeverDropYourMoonCup · 11/04/2021 00:30

DD1's father took in a feral called Sasha (who promptly dropped a litter of four identikits behind the wardrobe). She became rather protective of them and very, very hungry all the time, so he'd have to put food down at the front of the wardrobe - very, very carefully.

Sasha the Slasher.

Sarahtrue11 · 11/04/2021 00:33

I knew a dog called "Steam"

Fifipop185 · 11/04/2021 00:34
