A friend told me today that they've finally named their new Shih tzu puppy who they got a week ago. He's gorgeous and fluffy and they've chosen the name Monkey! I know it's none of my business but I really don't think that name suits him and it sounds a little bit silly... but it's kinda cute at the sane time I guess!

DH previously adopted a dog already named Chalky. He lived in an extremely multicultural area at the time and he is a big scary looking man. Many(completely wrong) assumptions were made about his beliefs I'm sure! Grin

We also have father and son guinea pigs called Homer and Bart however they are mainly known collectively as the Tribbles or the Wheeky Blinders!

Cat called KitKat

And my favourite was our guinea pig Albert Ginger Bottom (he was black with a ginger bum)

@Icenii

Budgie called Doreen when I was a teen.
I had a budgie called Kevin. Whenever I told anyone his name they always repeated it ‘kevin? Who calls a budgie Kevin??’ He was a great talker, learned a new phrase in days and sometimes in minutes. A character in many ways.

@Aprilshowersandhail

Many years ago my dgm found a ddog. Determined she wasn't keeping him she called him Nameless. For 15 years!! Grin
I’ve got a friend who bred from her own mare, the filly foal was called ‘who knows’ for ages (months) if anyone asked what is her name. The horse does have a proper registered name now (taken from her dam & sire) and her nickname is Babs and still belongs to the friend who bred her.
Greenandcabbagelooking · 17/04/2021 18:30

@Whatwouldnanado

My uncle called his dog Deefer.
Your uncle must have been a fan of the TV series Heartbeat.🙂
Thesagacontinues · 17/04/2021 18:45

My DM lost a much loved cat a few weeks ago.
She had it 13 years and everyone (DM, DF, my siblings, our partners and DC) called the cat 'meow meow'. I've just realised the cat was never actually given a proper name and us grown adults must have sounded odd referring to her as 'meow meow,'.

Vole3 · 17/04/2021 18:52

My brother had a black Tom cat called Orchestra.
My mum embarrassed my brothers house mate by asking him how they had named him.
Orchestra was from the rhyming slang as he was an intact tom with a large pair of ‘orchestra stalls’

HoneyNutLoop · 17/04/2021 18:57

We’re trying to name a kitten - top runner is currently Marmite because kids and I love cats, but hubby ‘hates’ them. Love it because out of all of us we know that the one who likes marmite (in a jar) most is hubby and he loves to hate our cats.

numberoneson · 17/04/2021 19:29

I used to have a male goose who was called Alexgander. He was lovely.

Strangeways19 · 17/04/2021 20:52

A pug called Dave, a labradoodle called Friday, a cat called Posh, a cross breed called Julie. My gran had a cat that was a stray & once I asked her what her name was & she just said that she was called 'come on' 😂 I don't think that she ever did get a proper name...
