Do you recognise any posters usernames on here?

I’ve been on here about a year or so and had about 3/4 different usernames but I’ve had this one for the longest....

I recognise a handful of posters usernames. Some for good reason others not so 😂 but it’s interesting given how many people are on here.

I suppose how catchy/different the username is to me, how frequently we are in the same threads and whether we have agreed/disagree in the past, if they’ve been helpful etc... all play a part.

So my list of user names I recognise on here.... (some of them I can’t remember exactly but I know if I see them so they won’t be on the list)

There’s definitely more but my mind has literally gone blank!!! I’ll add them as I remember. The ones above are in my mind because I’ve seen their posts recently.

I love a favourite mumsnetter thread - it makes a good read.
I am surprised that none of the oldies have turned up yet.
I definitely notice names, especially if I think they are a cunt.

I hang out in 'gardening' a bit and recognise a fair few names on there, some of whom really know their onions

Actually as well as pigletjohn, there are just some people who do have expertise in some areas and really freely help others and although I can't remember all their names, I do think they are truly amazing.
Whether it is legal advice, school appeals, medical.
I saw this morning, for example, someone give a really long helpful obviously expert reply to someone about vaccines.

That is what I think is really amazing about mn.

well, that and the ridiculous humour. I do love it when a thread goes off at a tangent

I've never NC'd but do wonder if I'm on anyone's naughty list often - I don't tend to agree to the masses - so anything related to vaccines, Brexit or Trump - I tend to stand alone, or with a couple of others.
I got enormously jumped on in a thread about stalking not so long ago - I vowed to leave MN, then came to my senses - why should I be bullied off of here?
When I started posting again, I did wonder how many ppl would think 'oh great, not Venus!' - it's sad really. I refuse to change my username though, that's the loser's way out.
I agree with NC'ing when you're writing a thread and/or to disguise your other posts.

When I had a different username, another poster didn’t like my opinions on a certain thread. All fine, people have different opinions. Then I started to notice this poster started to contradict everything I said on every thread I posted on. I thought maybe I was being paranoid so I posted on a few threads that were very quiet in a section that didn’t get much attention....and the poster turned up contradicting my very non controversial post. I named changed at this point at is seemed a bit much. 😬

To be fair this has been a common behaviour for quite some time.

I've been here 15 years, so recognise a fair few names, not as many as I used to though. Some names pop up and give me the warm fuzzies and sometimes I remember a poster and feel sad that I don't see them around anymore. I know people will say it's not so, but it does feel more vicious of late and that the arsehole quotient is higher.

Some thread topics are really polarising or the subject matter is very personal to some posters - it will always make some happy and others not. I'm more sad when a post disappears and I really want to know the OP is ok - whether they took advice or not.

It was weird and felt a bit stalker ish. 😬 Thank goodness for the name change function as it was easily solved.

There are probably about 40 names I recognise on here. It definitely feels more like a community of regular posters on specific sub categories.

I remember a lot of names, but confuse them all - can’t recall which threads they popped up on previously and whether I agreed with them. A lot of names appear and post a lot before disappearing - regular want- to-be-anonymous name changers like me, I guess.

There are some names I never confuse because I find the poster’s views to be consistently poorly thought out and unpleasant. When people regularly post judgemental drivel they I notice them.

I think it depends a lot if you use the app or laptop website , as on the app the user names are very clear so they stick out even before you read the reply. On the website it's much less obvious .

Yes I recognise lots of user names . It depends which threads you tend to go on though . And how long you spend on here ! There are names which people always bring up on this type of thread and although I recognise them if they've been around for years , I can't say I see them posting any more than others .
