Do you recognise any posters usernames on here?

I’ve been on here about a year or so and had about 3/4 different usernames but I’ve had this one for the longest....

I recognise a handful of posters usernames. Some for good reason others not so 😂 but it’s interesting given how many people are on here.

I suppose how catchy/different the username is to me, how frequently we are in the same threads and whether we have agreed/disagree in the past, if they’ve been helpful etc... all play a part.

So my list of user names I recognise on here.... (some of them I can’t remember exactly but I know if I see them so they won’t be on the list)

LyinWitchinWardrope (probably not spelt that right)
Bluntness100
ilovesooty
C8H10N4O2
Gwynfnder (that’s totally wrong but again I’d recognise it)
AlternativePerspective

There’s definitely more but my mind has literally gone blank!!! I’ll add them as I remember. The ones above are in my mind because I’ve seen their posts recently.

@PaperMonster

I wonder if Ilovesooty is the same person who was on the TES forum under that name Hmm
I always wonder whether posters use other forums too. I have some suspicions that Xenia might be active in the FT comments section.
MeadowHay · 10/04/2021 13:31

Oh remember CatThiefKeith? Flowers

Daffodil21 · 10/04/2021 13:32

@MeadowHay this is both funny and a little mortifying 😂 I do post a lot on the same type of boards - I'm sure you know which ones!!

Hi 👋

IhateBoswell · 10/04/2021 13:33

Yeah I could see Xenia right at home in the FT comments section...

TableFlowerss · 10/04/2021 13:39

@steppemum

and can I just say , on my way to flouncers corner, that have been on mn for 18 years. 18 YEARS I tell you and in all of these favourite mn posters threads, no-one, but NO-ONE every mentions me
You’re another one I recognise! And Xenia! I just forget who I recognise lol

@CatRamsey

Most I recognise have been mentioned already, but I always love Eckhart's and RedToothBrush's posts.

Also I always remember RoxaneMonk because hers were the first threads I read when I joined mumsnet last year.

RedToothBrush is another one i recognise!

I love Bluntness 100
GCacademic and CaraDuneLux (sorry if I got that wrong).

There's loads of amazing women on mumsnet but they were first off the top of my head!

babbaloushka · 10/04/2021 14:10

Brumbroo, WorralLiberty and LucySmiles off the top of my head

OakleyStreetisnotinChelsea · 10/04/2021 14:12

I've been here around 15 years so yes I do recognise some. I can't keep up these days though.

Norwaydidnthappen · 10/04/2021 14:14

Yeah, I’ve used MN on and off for about 8 years so there’s definitely some names I recognise at this stage but not many.

poppycat10 · 10/04/2021 14:22

In The Other Place where everyone says hun to everyone there was someone called chocolate e-clair - that one always stuck in my head.

There are a couple from the Brexit threads who occasionally turn up elsewhere like Red Toothbrush and bellinisurge.

EarringsandLipstick · 10/04/2021 14:31

You see all sorts on here, but to specifically open up a thread to say ‘it’s a pointless thread’ and call it bizarre, is just one of the most strange aspects of an anonymous forum

I disagree with you entirely here, I have to say!

Posters open a thread to read it, and then, as is the nature of Internet forums, choose to give their opinion. They didn't keep giving it, just stated it & then moved off the thread.

I don't think it's bizarre. Regardless of whether you agree or not, they're perfectly entitled to post.

I do get a bit irked when an OP gets instructive about who can / can't post & about what.

Yes but you clearly get ‘irked’ if an OP doesn’t agree with people replying, when it doesn’t suit them. I get irked with that too.

This isn’t isn’t the same situation though. I wasn’t asking for opinions on a specific topic, it was simply a light hearted thread, there isn’t a right or wrong answer....

I’m not right or they aren’t wrong, but coming on a thread to simply say ‘it’s a pointless thread I’m going to hide it’ and continuing to waste their time by reading replies is just a weird. One of them replied twice so clearly was reading it.

You’re absolutely spot on and everyone is entitled to their opinion and it is my opinion that it’s strange when people bother replying at all......

Lolasmiles is another one!

Rockbird · 10/04/2021 14:59

I remember lots of names from days of yore but the site is a lot bigger now and so I notice names less. The only one that really sticks out for me is Cocolepew because we share some taste in music Grin

MysteriousAffairAtStyles · 10/04/2021 15:01
@AnyFucker - aka AF
@WorraLiberty
@StealthPolarBear (who lately has been stealthily quiet unless nc)
@MatildaTheCat
@SoupDragon (because she lives near me)
@CrunchyMum (who bought a beautiful lamp!)
Why did you ‘@‘ them all? That’s some pretty weird fan-girling Confused

WeekendCEO · 10/04/2021 15:02

I recognise some names. There’s a few names that I always seem to agree with, I think I’ve recognised when they’ve name changed as well as our views on everything seem really similar and I haven’t seen their old name for a while.

There some names on this thread who I really don’t agree with or just don’t like their posting style yet they seem to be ‘mumsnet royalty’. It’s like being back in the school playground at times.

Skysblue · 10/04/2021 15:04

Only one - because her username is v v similar to my real name. Freaks me out is like getting messages from myself 🤣

GreyhoundG1rl · 10/04/2021 15:08

It is odd. A real call to arms. Watch them come...

MiddleClassProblem · 10/04/2021 15:12

I find it a bit annoying that it often comes with a price how long you’ve been here vibe.

I have a few that I like but I’m not sure if there’s anyone I ever agree with 100% on everything so I’ve never really experienced the fan girl side of MN.

I think there are a few posters I remember because of them being not nice in some threads and then I see them somewhere else and agree with them but feel annoyed at myself 😂

ineedtwoweeksoff · 10/04/2021 15:13

I used to look for expatinscotland's posts, haven't seen any in a very long time.

Chicchicchicchiclana · 10/04/2021 15:14

I recognise Showy, Cocolepew, RandomMess, Samcro and Steppemum on this thread.

It's because they are all old non-namechangers.

OnASwankyMarleyPond · 10/04/2021 15:18

Those who say they recognise a writing style - how?! Genuinely curious. There are some posters who suddenly start posting very prolifically and I reckon they’re long-timers who’ve recently name changed, because they’re very comfortable giving an opinion on most things. But I don’t think I could easily match how they write / speak with another username 🤔

Ihopeyourcakeisshit · 10/04/2021 15:20

Recognise many, not singling out names though.
A few do stick in my head because they are funny, or sensible or a bit of a shit.
Generally, I just read the post.

Ihopeyourcakeisshit · 10/04/2021 15:22

These threads always bring up names where sometimes I'm flummoxed at the admiration.
