Do some people really not like chocolate?

So met a friend yesterday for a walk and offered her some of my Easter chocolate. She says she doesn’t like chocolate - not doesn’t eat it - but doesn’t actually like it!!
How is this possible? 😂
Please explain if you feel the same!

I don't understand this either. One of my friends claims to dislike chocolate and cheese. It baffles me.

IHaveBrilloHair · 05/04/2021 17:49

I'm not a fan.
I don't hate it, but rarely eat ordinary chocolate.
I like cream cakes and have chocolate eclairs sometimes maybe once every couple of months.
I don't have a sweet tooth and go for cheese over dessert every time.

DS1 didn't like chocoloate until he was about 3 - he said it was the texture he didn't like. He had some chocolate yesterday and said it hurt his throat Confused

It hurts my throat.. almost like a burn. Don’t particularly like the taste so don’t feel like I’m missing out.
No issues with any dairy products so don’t understand it.

Superstardjs · 05/04/2021 17:51

I don't like chocolate and same as Brillo, I always choose cheese as a pudding. I cannot be trusted around jelly sweets however.

Fnib · 05/04/2021 17:51

Your friend is a monster @IrishGirl2020 Confused

Peppermintfluffysocks · 05/04/2021 17:52

Please tell me you brought an Easter egg to eat on your walk OP

BigSandyBalls2015 · 05/04/2021 17:52

I’m not keen. Would much prefer something savoury.

DramaAlpaca · 05/04/2021 17:52

I don't like milk or white chocolate, I find it too sweet and cloying in the mouth. I quite like decent dark chocolate, but only a little bit at a time.

Cheese, on the other hand, I just love. I much prefer it to chocolate.

BashfulClam · 05/04/2021 17:53

I’m meh about it to be honest...crisps are my vice. I’m overweight bc and said something about not liking chocolate cake (too sickly) and a cheeky cue piped up ‘I hardly believe that!’ Until my other nicer colleague said ‘when have you seen bashful eat chocolate? I never have!’

IrishGirl2020 · 05/04/2021 17:53

@Fnib
Exactly 🤣
I just don’t get it - I mean I wish I didn’t like it so much

I’m not a fan, gives me a headache!

Soubriquet · 05/04/2021 17:54

Easy

I like chocolate but I don’t like pizza or cake.

Actually I don’t like a lot of foods but these two seem to bring the most aghast reactions

Tangledtresses · 05/04/2021 17:56

I don't like chocolate either! I mean I'll eat a bit after dinner once in a blue moon.... but I dont like fruit or sugary things either

IrishGirl2020 · 05/04/2021 17:56

@Peppermintfluffysocks brought a variety of Easter chocolate in multiple flavours for sharing but ended up eating the lot myself 😂

SuperLoudPoppingAction · 05/04/2021 17:57

I'm not bothered about chocolate. 2 of my kids aren't either. I think they really taste the bitterness of it. I'm a super taster so it might be that? It just kind of tastes a bit poisoney?
I love crisps. Dd isn't bothered about them and it weirds me out in much the same way I weird her out with my not eating chocolate.

AuntieStella · 05/04/2021 17:57

I'm not that bothered - can take it or leave it

Prefer mints, toffee and some fruity sweeties.

And cannot be trusted near liquorice allsorts

kowari · 05/04/2021 17:57

Some people don't. Sometimes it's easier to say you don't like it than to say you only like certain chocolate. I say I don't like cake when in reality I don't like most cake. I only like extremely dark chocolate 85%+ cocoa, but if I tell people then they buy me the 50% cocoa flavoured Lindt rubbish that I then have to donate to the Foodbank.

bloodywhitecat · 05/04/2021 17:57

As someone said up thread, I am not a fan of chocolate but love a jelly sweet (but not Haribo, Haribo are awful)

Caramelsmadfuzzytail · 05/04/2021 17:58

I'd rather have a packet of crisps. I will eat maltesers, but it takes me at least a week.

ShowOfHands · 05/04/2021 17:58

I like really good quality v dark chocolate but only a tiny amount. I'd never buy myself chocolate.

But then I don't like a lot of stuff people can't live without. Don't drink alcohol, not fussed by cheese, never eat crisps.

Vooga · 05/04/2021 17:58

I'm meh about it too. I use to like it but as I get older I seem to be more sensitive to how sweet it is, it hurts my teeth and makes me feel sick. So much chocolate now seems to just be shit quality and nauseatingly sweet. I've never really liked Easter eggs as they seem to be the worst quality.

Cookerhood · 05/04/2021 17:58

DS2 doesn't like chocolate. He likes plenty of other sweet things though!

Alannathelioness · 05/04/2021 17:59

My brother can't stand anything sweet. He can taste it in anything. People used.to but him.a pack of cheese biscuits at Christmas as they couldn't get him chocolate Grin

Alannathelioness · 05/04/2021 17:59

*to buy him. Argh!
