Do some people really not like chocolate?

So met a friend yesterday for a walk and offered her some of my Easter chocolate. She says she doesn’t like chocolate - not doesn’t eat it - but doesn’t actually like it!!
How is this possible? 😂
Please explain if you feel the same!

I like some chocolate but wouldn't optionally pick it up for myself. I never buy myself chocolate just don't have a desire for it. Hate cheese too.

Inextremis · 05/04/2021 18:27

I'm not keen on chocolate. I quite like things made with chocolate, like ice cream, eclairs, cake etc. - just not chocolate in a bar. I also like Beech's cremes - rose, violet, coffee etc., and have one a day over Christmas. That's plenty for me!

I'm a proper chocolate addict. Dairy milk is a fav. My DD likes chocolate but my DS11 doesn't so much. He didn't want any Easter eggs.

Meh. Not bothered by chocolate but could eat my own weight in cheese

iamabox · 05/04/2021 18:46

Chocolate I'm not bothered by. I don't even buy it anymore. Galaxy is vile, and I've always hated Dairy Milk. But....cheese, I'm mad for, and I love jelly sweets and liquorice allsorts,

TSSDNCOP · 05/04/2021 18:48

My DS.

fizbosshoes · 05/04/2021 18:51

DS (11) doesnt like chocolate- he doesnt like the smell of it.
He never liked it as a baby/toddler (not that I gave him a lot of it!) and then when he was about 2 he had a massive tantrum as we were leaving a friends house. She gave him a chocolate coin to avert the tantrum, and to my amazement he ate it!I thought that would be the turning point but since then hes never eaten any chocolate at all. (If a plain cake has been cut with a knife that had chocolate on it, he wont eat it)

Strange child...
All the more for me though !Easter Grin

HappyThursdays · 05/04/2021 18:52

I don't like it nor does my ds. But we both love cheese and haribo :)

WhoWants2Know · 05/04/2021 18:55

Given a choice between plain black liquorice and chocolate, liquorice would absolutely win.

Kezzie200 · 05/04/2021 18:56

My son didn't as a child. It made him gag. And a teacher told him she felt the same and whenever there was chocolate around she would give him a banana.

He eats it now. Not much, but some.

stressbandit · 05/04/2021 18:57

My kids are funny with chocolate the Easter eggs we had yesterday have been wasted just had the wrapper taken of and dumped back in the box! Me on the other hand I live and breathe it, hence being overweight. Grin

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe · 05/04/2021 18:59

I don't like it. Makes me feel like a non-person sometimes as, to quote a million or so voices, "Who the hell doesn't like chocolate?" with a shocked face Shock

It's waxy, sticks in your mouth and doesn't taste good.

I like Wotsits enormously though... Grin

PickAChew · 05/04/2021 19:03

Chocolate doesn't like me. It's got to be really bloody nice to even tempt me to risk ending up with my head in the toilet. Last time I took the risk, I wasn't sick but felt lethargic for about 4 days. Stuff like that can put you off something.

Preservethewood · 05/04/2021 19:07

I’m not a big lover of it, will now and again have a bar for a pure convenience sugar boost. The people I know who really love chocolate tend to be incapable of refusing or moderating their intake. I’m sure there’s a chocolate loving gene Smile

EmmaGrundyForPM · 05/04/2021 19:11

I don't actively dislike it but I wouldn't actively choose to eat it. I might have the odd chocolate if someone is offering a box or bag around but otherwise don't bother.

However I have no self control when it comes to crisps

NoneOfMyBusinessEither · 05/04/2021 19:14

I don't like chocolate, sweets, cake or ice cream. They taste early artificial/chemically
and leave an odd taste/sensation in my mouth.

I just don't eat them.

IrishGirl2020 · 05/04/2021 19:14

Maybe there is a chocolate loving gene then?
I just love everything about it and especially the way it melts in your mouth. Just can’t even imagine how people don’t like it but looks like there’s quite a few of you out there!

I love bars of chocolate but can’t stand chocolate cake/ice cream or drinking chocolate.

felulageller · 05/04/2021 19:25

I don't like most chocolate. I won't eat anything cadburys or any dark chocolate.

It's a pms thing for me- a craving for 1-2 days a month but no desire the rest of the time.

hiredandsqueak · 05/04/2021 19:30

I don't really like chocolate. I can eat a milky bar but I wouldn't choose to. I'd never eat chocolate cake or brownies or anything that has a good helping of chocolate in it. My dd is the same although she does eat white chocolate and had a Thorntons bunny.for Easter.

hollyhzd · 05/04/2021 19:41

What's the burn-y mouth feeling? I have never heard of that!

Moondust001 · 05/04/2021 19:42

I hate chocolate. Haven't eaten any at all in many decades. A bit when I was a child, but I didn't like it then either. Not a fan of almost anything sweet.

YellowandGreenToBeSeen · 05/04/2021 19:49

Not a fan of it. I can taste the ‘fat’ in it (regardless of price point). I don’t mean ‘oh, I can taste the calories’ but I can actually taste the fats in it.

Plus, it’s never as satisfying as I think it’s going to be. And that is a waste of calories for me.

I just think it’s a over rated. Style over substance.

YellowandGreenToBeSeen · 05/04/2021 19:50

Oh, and I HATE that sickly, claggy mess it makes as it ‘melts in your mouth’. God, that’s a horrible aspect to it. Been so long since I’ve had any, I’d forgotten that.

YellowandGreenToBeSeen · 05/04/2021 19:51

Hot chocolate 🤢
