Do some people really not like chocolate?

So met a friend yesterday for a walk and offered her some of my Easter chocolate. She says she doesn’t like chocolate - not doesn’t eat it - but doesn’t actually like it!!
How is this possible? 😂
Please explain if you feel the same!

I had a colleague like this. Really hated it. I kind of get in, I had to learn to like chocolate a hit as kid, I can still only eat it if I particularly fancy it at the time. Like white chocolate though.

Chocolate is also quite high in fructans so people on low fodmap have to limit it.

I like decent chocolate occasionally but if I never ate it again it wouldn't bother me tbh.

I don't like white chocolate or very dark chocolate, does that count? Otherwise I'm totally obsessed by chocolate. I think it's a bit of a problem and I'm envious of people who don't like it or are ambivalent towards it. I wish I was like this. Easter egg chocolate is the best.

Zancah · 07/04/2021 14:09

Meh, other people having likes and dislikes different to mine - not something I give two fucks about tbh.

But if it was Cadbury's you were offering, SNBU it's gross. There is lots of other shit cheap chocolate (that aren't cheap in ££, M&S case in point) that I wouldn't bother wasting my time with. I like to enjoy my extra calories.

ChaBishkoot · 07/04/2021 14:15

Don’t like chocolate but I don’t have a sweet tooth. I have one child who doesn’t like it either and another who would survive on it if I let him.

Crinkle77 · 07/04/2021 15:38

I like chocolate but don't like chocolate flavoured things. I can't stand hot chocolate, it's too sickly and the smell makes me nauseous. And chocolate cake is the last thing is choose as a dessert. I love things that are sharp and tangy

Can I go a little off topic to mention my ex who always said he didnt like chocolate/biscuits but whenever I bought them would polish them of. Including Cadbury's chocolate and hobnobs (I live abroad) that I had carefully sourced to eat while I was pregnant*. But he would INSIST still he didnt like chocolate
*He is lucky to be an ex and not under the patio IMO

I'm a picky chocolate eater...and like loads of others if it was a case of chocolate or cheese,
cheese would be my preference.

I don't like Galaxy, red lindor chocolate, White or Cadbury chocolate. I like chocolate with sea salt, but generally not chocolate that has been faffed about with.

I'll eat Quality Street but not roses, celebrations or miniature heroes.

Thanks everyone who’s answered! Seems like there are people who genuinely dislike chocolate but I think most people are just picky when it comes to what they like best.

I’ll eat pretty much any chocolate: white, milk, dark, flavoured. The only type I struggle with is most American chocolate e.g. Hershey bars. Even if I had access to absolutely no other chocolate at all I still couldn’t eat them. I’ve never looked at the ingredients so I’m not sure why I dislike them so much but they just taste weird to me

Hershey Bars are utterly vile. They don't even deserve to be called chocolate IMO

stayathomer · 07/04/2021 18:15

I feel sick after a little chocolate, always have, as in I could have half a bar, or a few rolos or something, same with chocolate biscuits or chocolate chip cookies- I just feel sick! I don't like any form of chocolate cake or brownies and dh policies the easter egg thing because my Easter egg lasts weeksGrin Give me crisps any day!!!

Hersheys is actually vile. Disliking hersheys is very different from disliking chocolate.

I tried some of ds2's easter egg, for science.
I did not like it.
Standard Cadburys.

I feel very validated that someone upthread used the word claggy. Chcoolate definitely seems claggy to me.
