Where would it be and why would you pick that area?

OP posts:
NailsNeedDoing · 04/04/2021 13:10

London, because I miss city life.

vampirethriller · 04/04/2021 13:11

London, I left a few years ago and really miss it.

Mydogisagentleman · 04/04/2021 13:14

London. I was born and grew up there, alternatively Cambridge, Oxford or Norwich

WhenSheWasBad · 04/04/2021 13:17

Cumbria, it’s just so beautiful.

Roszie · 04/04/2021 13:19

London

Cornishmumofone · 04/04/2021 13:21

Cornwall. Beautiful landscape, nice lifer and closer to my family.

Justaonetimeting · 04/04/2021 13:23

Devon, near Lyme but not in Lyme.

Shosha1 · 04/04/2021 13:24

Outer Hebrides. Just love it there. Any of the Islands.

Flappityflippers1 · 04/04/2021 13:28

Edinburgh- close to hills, sea and is such a lovely city. I lived there in my early 20’s and DH and I had the chance to make it a permanent move but decided I’d work remotely and stay near family - we often regret it!

ginoclocksomewhere · 04/04/2021 13:29

Cornwall or the Gower.

PatsyStone39 · 04/04/2021 13:30

I'd go back to Central London. I miss it incredibly. Maybe one day.

Geamhradh · 04/04/2021 13:30

Kent. Canterbury area. Near to London, near to the sea. Good weather. Lovely countryside. My happy place.

neonjumper · 04/04/2021 13:31

Either back to London or the large city where I grew up.

I have found Home Counties living incredibly dull and not diverse in it's true sense. It is like living in The Truman show.

StiggyZardust · 04/04/2021 13:32

London for me as well. Moved out 10 years and still miss it terribly.

Pearbear · 04/04/2021 13:35

Cornwall, fed up of living so far away from the coast and I hate suburban life

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 04/04/2021 13:35

Visited Bristol last year and fell in love with it and the nearby countryside. I’d definitely try that area out if we were at the right stage.

someoneiou · 04/04/2021 13:36

London.

I'll never live anywhere else. Holidays in the cotswolds or Cornwall, sure! But to live? London.

MorningTeas · 04/04/2021 13:36

So many for London, London is a great place, but I don't think I could live there. What is it about London you all miss/love?

Goleor · 04/04/2021 13:45

We are moving to cornwall from the midlands at the end of next month and I'm very excited to be living by the coast again. I've hated living in such a built up and congested area. I'd equally love to live in wales or northern Ireland but dp is cornish so it makes more sense to go there.

someoneiou · 04/04/2021 13:48

@MorningTeas

So many for London, London is a great place, but I don't think I could live there. What is it about London you all miss/love?

Everything I could want is on my doorstep (in non-Covid times). Theatre, culture, restaurants, beautiful parks, beautiful architecture, every act/band/show passes through here, so much diversity/people from all walks of life, Several airports close by, hundreds of different trains to catch that take you to every part of the country, good reliable public transport (our bus comes every 3-5 minutes!), there are lots of jobs here, you can be anyone you want to be and you will find "your people", dating in London is (was!) so much fun - the dating pool is huge, the convenience of everything... Amazon delivers on Same-Day Prime, groceries can be delivered to my door in less than 2 hours, the variety of restaurants on my deliveroo app is insane, the shopping is amazing...

... and for kids!! Museums, activities and events, Christmas time is unbridled in London, there's always something exciting and fun on for kids here, always (non-Covid times obv).

And when it all gets too much, it's a one hour drive to the countryside. Totally doable day trips.

W3dontdoduvets · 04/04/2021 13:49

Yes, London for me too. Miss it dreadfully.

Just4thisone · 04/04/2021 13:50

I live in London now. I would like to move to the outskirts. I'm not sure where though 🤔

CarolinaWeeper · 04/04/2021 13:51

I think I'd go for the areas around Bristol/Bath. Surprised about all the London love, I live under an hour from London and I agree it's great in terms of lots to see and do but my God I'm happy to leave and get some space away from other people. I'd prefer to live close enough to travel into a city for things that I want but have more space/greenery immediately accessible.

Chicchicchicchiclana · 04/04/2021 13:52

I would live in Fitzrovia (an area of central London). To the op who asked why people love London I've c&pd a post I did on another thread like this a few years ago ...

River Thames
Houses of Parliament
Big Ben
Horseguards Parade
Buckingham Palace
Kensington Palace
The Tower of London
Greenwich Observatory
Cutty Sark
The O2
The Olympic Park
10 Downing Street
St Paul's Cathedral
Trafalgar Square
Nelsons Column
National Gallery
National Portrait Gallery
Tate Gallery
Tate Modern
British Museum
Natural History Museum
Science Museum
Museum of London
V & A
Oxford Street
Pall Mall
Saville Row
Regent Street
Piccadilly
All the other streets on the Monopoly Board
Hyde Park
Regents Park
The Zoo in Regents Park
Green Park
St James's Park
Covent Garden
The Albert Hall
The Royal Opera House
Shaftesbury Avenue and its 30+ theatres
China Town
Harrods
Selfridges
Liberty
Fortnum & Mason
Harvey Nicks
Hamleys
Shakespeare's Globe
The Shard
The Millennium Bridge
New Covent Garden Market
Billingsgate
Smithfield
Spitalfields

All in one city and all within a few miles of each other. There is nowhere else to compare.

Of course living in a big city is not everyone's cup of tea. Of course most people prefer to live in smaller cities/villages or the countryside.

MrsTreglowan · 04/04/2021 13:54

I live in a small fishing port on the Lizard I'm not moving anywhere else as love this place
