Where would it be and why would you pick that area?

OP posts:
Poorlykitten · 04/04/2021 21:07

West coast of Scotland or Yorkshire Dales

Kezzie200 · 04/04/2021 21:11

We've been looking to move away from Cornwall but just can't find anywhere else we want to be. So Cornwall it is

Chipsahoy · 04/04/2021 21:16

Moving to Northumberland if my house ever sells. That is the dream for us. Ideally a tiny village but will settle in a town until children fly the nest. Preferably Hexham or Morpeth. Can’t wait. Grin

I think I’m pretty unusual in the places I love, but I get a really strong feeling about places in that I either get a strong connection or I can’t stand the place. Places I have never felt any connection with:
York;I always wish I’d just gone to Leeds instead
Manchester
Cornwall - I know everyone else loves it but I found it so boring and unfriendly
Dublin.
Small run down seaside towns like Torquay
Macclesfield; the thought of going here fills me with dread, whenever I’ve had to go there it’s so unfriendly (in my opinion) I can’t wait to get out.
Places I love:
Leeds - I lived there for a few years and just loved it. I love Leeds market.
Scotland - have a real sense of wanting to go to Scotland.
Northumberland: really want to go on a holiday here, I love rugged countryside.
London: even though I was born in Liverpool I always feel some kind of pride about London being our capital city and I’ve loved being there on the few occasions I’ve been there.
Whitby in Yorkshire - doesn’t have the same feeling of being run down as other seaside towns.
Bradford - I love history and Bradford has got a Rick cultural history and some great museums.
Stratford upon Avon - I loved it there and all the Shakespearean touristy stuff.
Leamington Spa
Harrogate
Liverpool; my home town, I love it but the way it used to be, authentic, old Skool scousers are getting rarer and rarer to find .

We moved relatively recently to to the countryside of County Durham, but would have been happy in Northumberland or Yorkshire too. The countryside in the North of the country makes me happy.

BurbageBrook · 04/04/2021 21:22

Cornwall or Devon or somewhere coastal.

MrsPworkingmummy · 04/04/2021 21:30

I would love a change of lifestyle and move to a farm in the Highlands of Scotland or the Lake District. I also love Edinburgh, but there's something about being between hills and mountains that I adore. Currently live in a 3 story city centre Victorian terraced.

rc22 · 04/04/2021 21:31

I live in Yorkshire and love it but would like to experience living in London. DH and I are both teachers and were planning to get an air b and b and spend a good chunk of the last summer holidays in London but obviously covid put paid to that plan!!

bluechameleon · 04/04/2021 21:34

London. I moved out for the classic reasons but still regret it several years later.

N51BU · 04/04/2021 21:35

A sleepy little village in the Cotswolds

DemobHappy · 04/04/2021 21:36

London. I do live here, so that’s good. Born and bred Londoner, and I miss it terribly when I’ve lived elsewhere (even though I moan about it sometimes). I feel immense gratitude to call it my home.

If I couldn’t live in London, I’d live in Brighton. Close to London, but...sea!

Totallyworthit · 04/04/2021 21:39

Guernsey

altlife · 04/04/2021 21:48

London - I love city life.

Or, some quiet 'Midsommer Murders' type village. Without the murders, of course Grin

toocold54 · 04/04/2021 21:48

London (I live in Cornwall). Every time I go there there is just so much life and so many opportunities and things to do and see.
I would want to be able to afford a big place with a garden though so I’d never be able to afford it.

aibutohavethisusername · 04/04/2021 21:53

Cornwall

HappyDaysToCome · 04/04/2021 21:56

Chichester harbour area - Bosham, Itchenor

MorningTeas · 04/04/2021 21:56

Which areas of London? To the people who say London?

OP posts:
Joeblack066 · 04/04/2021 21:58

Anywhere by the sea

Beecham · 04/04/2021 22:01

A small historic city with a bit of culture and intelligent people - but also with beautiful scenery nearby, like St Davids or St Andrews. Possibly Durham.

London is fab but only if you can afford a £1m plus property.

highlandcoo · 04/04/2021 22:03

I agree that Maida Vale is great. I lived there for five years very happily. Notting Hill, Hyde Park, Regents Park and Primrose Hill all walkable from MV and because it doesn't really have a village centre it's pretty peaceful.

I would love to live in Edinburgh again. Glasgow is also excellent but the climate spoils it a bit. I'll get back to Edinburgh one day ..

flossletsfloss · 04/04/2021 22:03

London is literally the last place I would want to live. I lived there in my twenties but couldn't think of anything worse now. I adore where I live in the Cheshire countryside.

Poorlykitten · 04/04/2021 22:08

I hated living in London. So glad we have left now and wouldn’t want my kids to be brought up there.

Bellabelloo · 04/04/2021 22:08

Back to London if I could afford a nice house in Hampstead or Wimbledon Village. Or Brighton. Again if I could afford a big house with a garden.

But I can't!! Confused

Katjolo · 04/04/2021 22:09

London. Great city. So much to see and do. Lots of opportunities. Great food!

SimonJT · 04/04/2021 22:10

@MorningTeas

Which areas of London? To the people who say London?
I’m in Shoreditch, I love it, the only other area I would consider living in is Stoke Newington, but I would have to somehow transport my home there.
