Where would it be and why would you pick that area?

We live by the coast but I’d love to live in London again, I lived there for a year as a student and I loved the hustle and bustle of it all. It’s definitely my happy place. Expensive though, we couldn’t afford it at the moment

Movinghouseatlast · 04/04/2021 13:58

Cornwall! I love it both winter and summer. I am very close to the sea but I do wish I had a sea view. I don't think I would have liked it when I was young as you need more going on.

If London then Wimbledon Village, Dulwich Village or Richmond would be my choice. Or the King's Road. I would have to have a big garden and be detached though. I like a villagey feel to where I live, independent shops and lots of green space.

On balance being by the sea would always win for me as the sea makes me happy.

Scottishskifun · 04/04/2021 14:00

I love where I live now view of the sea in North East Scotland, easy links to cities if we want it, quiet small town with the ability to buy lobster and crabs direct from the fishermen.
Pretty easy to get into the hills and an hours drive for skiing in the winter.

Only Downside is the 6 degrees sea temperature!

sashh · 04/04/2021 14:03

London or North Yorkshire, ideally having a place in both.

oohmama · 04/04/2021 14:07

Bristol! Moved away a few years ago but miss it so much we are moving back
And I CANNOT WAIT

AgeLikeWine · 04/04/2021 14:15

Somewhere coastal, within half an hour’s drive of a decent city, eg Bristol, Exeter, Bournemouth or Brighton.

I currently live in a nice village in Leicestershire, which is about as far from the coast as it’s possible to be in these islands. when you live in the middle of England, there is no sense of living on an island at all. I wouldn’t want to move further North due to the weather, the East coast is too isolated and boring, so somewhere south or west of here would be perfect.

I can totally see why London as it has everything on your doorstep, I just don't think living in the hustle bustle of it all and the fast pace of life with everything so built up and busy would be for me.

We currently live down south but thinking of going north or maybe further south.

I would live in Sussex,Pevensey Bay,Rye,Lewes,Eastbourne.Maybe Cornwall,my eldest son and family live in North Cornwall and love it.

I live in the Midlands and stay for family reasons, but I was brought up near the South Coast,I miss the sea.

Lived in London for years,I love to visit but am always glad to leave.

vixeyann · 04/04/2021 14:48

Wales I think. I lived in London till I was 23 (would never go back and have never missed it), then the Isle of Wight and now the Devon/Cornwall border. I love the coast and countryside and actually enjoy changing every few years. I hate the thought of being stuck somewhere but will be here for a while because of schooling.

picknmix1984 · 04/04/2021 14:50

Yorkshire every time.

Bipitybopityboop · 04/04/2021 15:25

Edinburgh

You get the convenience of a city whilst still having that town feel as its not a massive city.

The history, the the buildings, the food, my mum...

I am so homesick 😞

ReassuringlyExpensive · 04/04/2021 15:37

Where I live now, the Surrey Hills, it’s so beautiful here, peaceful and tranquil, with so much to do outdoors. I lived in London for 30 years (all over but 20 years in Notting Hill) and am so glad I don’t live there anymore, I would never move back, I love living in the countryside too much with all that it brings to my quality of life.

RaininSummer · 04/04/2021 15:37

Just ten miles or so from where I do live in Devon I think to get away from the city noise. Or Dorset around Bridport.

BikeRunSki · 04/04/2021 15:40

Somewhere wild and windy on the west coast of Scotland. I crave more time outside, more space and a more natural landscape as I get older.

SmednotaSmoo · 04/04/2021 15:42

I love where I live. Coast, city, London in commuting distance (not that I’d want to). Good weather, plenty of countryside, reasonable city life bikeable to a national park. But if I could have a dollop of proper
Northern moor in there too (and if we’re being imaginary about this, I’ll take the East Lancashire moors I grew up with without the rain) I’d be happy.

I love visiting Cornwall and places more remote, but equally love London. So somewhere in between suits me.

OakleyStreetisnotinChelsea · 04/04/2021 15:42

I love my little County Durham village and I'm not moving anywhere. It is fantastic.

Although if I could move the sea closer so that I could walk to the beach then that would be nice.

PutYourBackIntoit · 04/04/2021 15:46

Stroud valleys (moved here from London)

I love visiting London with kids, but we didn't have the ££ to afford a garden, maybe we'd have stayed if we did.

We were talking about the lottery the other day, if we had a dream amount, we'd buy a flat in Bristol and London, but our main home would still be in the Stroud valleys somewhere, springtime here is just glorious.

grafittiartist · 04/04/2021 15:48

Edinburgh

memberofthewedding · 04/04/2021 15:49

Always wanted to live in Bath. A beautiful historic city with some stunning architecture and a great cultural vibe. Also close to beautiful rural areas for getting away from city life.

dramalamma · 04/04/2021 16:13

Just to go against the grain london would be the one place I would no longer consider. It's just the pace of life for me isn't balanced out by the facilities and opportunities. Would have to be somewhere beautiful for me - and wild like Cornwall or Wales - tho I'm pretty happy with where I love right now in NI because Its cheap! I'd never be able to afford my house in most places and for the small number of downsides, where I actually live is where I spend most of my time (especially at the mo!!) and therefore makes the most impact on my quality of life.

Thatswhathappens · 04/04/2021 16:18

Brighton or angelsey, love them both equally!

Changingwiththetimes · 04/04/2021 16:26

Chelsea! I lived there as a little girl (60s) so my very earliest memories are from there. Where the McDonald's is now a block from Sloane Sq there was a sweetie shop and butchers. I remember my aunt taking us to Peter Jones for lunch.
If I go there now I just feel so happy. I love Sloane Sq, I love Kings Rd, I love walking up one side of it and back down the other. I love the shops, the cafes and restaurants, the people watching! I've seen Joanna Lumley, Kate O'Mara and swear to god even Princess Di drove by in a car once. I wish I had a spare £4m to buy a little house there.

Phyllis321 · 04/04/2021 16:30

London for me too. Or Cambridge.
Rural option would be a beautiful coastal village somewhere.

FindingMeno · 04/04/2021 16:42

Somerset or Pembrokeshire possibly.
