If you're 5 foot 6 and a half... how much do you weigh...

As the title says... and do you think of yourself as slim, average or overweight?
I think I'm struggling with body image. I've gone down from 11 stone 9 a year ago to approx 9 stone 11... I still feel very overweight and want to lose another 0.5 stone at least. But people say I'll look too thin then. I'm 48 if that helps.

OP posts:
rookiemere · 31/03/2021 08:42

I'm 5ft 6 age 50 and a smidge over 12 stone. Hate being this weight but find it hard to lose weight. The best weight for me was around 10st2 - 10st4 as I have quite broad shoulders, but tbh I looked good up to 11 stone. The very few times I've been less than 10 stone I looked a bit gaunt.

TabbyStar · 31/03/2021 08:47

I'm usually around 11 stone, when I was running regularly I was 10.5, which I'm happier with. I'm size 12 and feel fairly average, I'd like to lose that half stone but I'm not unhappy with how I look, I'm also fairly fit. I'm 52 and I agree with the comment about losing weight on my face, I always heard you have to choose between your arse and your face and that seems to have become truer as I've got older.

Nightfeedwatcher · 31/03/2021 08:50

I’m exactly that height and almost 12stone, the biggest I’ve ever been after lockdown and having a baby a few months ago (plus I can’t really tell what size I am as living in leggings I’m refusing to buy clothes that fit at this weight!)
Usually around 10 stone size 10 although don’t really weigh myself if my clothes are fitting ok..

savanahnana · 31/03/2021 08:53

Pregnant at the moment but usually from around 9 stone to 9st 4lb. I'd say I was slim but wobbly...

savanahnana · 31/03/2021 08:54

I'm also quite curvy so I think I look as though I probably weigh more than that.

Amdone123 · 31/03/2021 09:06

I'm 5ft 6, 53 and am about 12st 10. I would rather be 12st and was last year. I'll get to 12st when the gyms open.
When I tell people what I weigh, some can't believe it. I am toned, legs muscly, etc. Am also really active. I can walk for hours, and love exercise.
I'm happy enough at 12st. Couldn't imagine being lower than that. I think I'd look ill.

ThatOtherPoster · 31/03/2021 10:18

This is what I don't understand. Why is it that someone who weighs two stone more than me can wear a size down in clothes?

I think it’s easy to get the wrong idea of your actual clothing size when you wear mainly stretchy or baggy clothes. When I weighed 13stone 4, I could zip up my M&S size 12 or 14 skinny jeans so I assumed they were the right size. But I had a muffin top and regularly needed to replace jeans as they frayed along the inner thighs from rubbing together. I could fit into size 12 tops if they were loose, but they were still very tight in the arms. But if I’d been put on the spot, I’d have said I was a size 12/14.

ThatOtherPoster · 31/03/2021 10:20

And people carry weight very differently too. I’ve got slim friends who just weigh “heavy”. I weigh less than them on the scales, but they definitely look better in a bikini than I do!

Quit4me · 31/03/2021 10:24

I am 5ft 6 and a half and early 40’s
When I am 11st 5 I feel very heavy and wobbly
When I am 10st 5 I feel good, size 10-12 and feel healthy.
When I am 9st 10 (my lowest) I am a size 10 and I feel fantastic. Really confident. Tops look nice and I can tuck them in to my trousers, thighs still wobbly but then I would need to do a lot of resistance training and work to get them firm.
I would love to be your size right now but it’s what I’m working towards at the moment.
So yes, I think you have some body issues there

Me too...someone on here is Almost 4 stone heavier than Me but only one dress size bigger 🤔
Brakebackcyclebot · 31/03/2021 10:37

I am 5 ft 6. Weight between 9 stone 7 lb and 9 St 10. Size 10. I would like to be 9 St 7 all the time but I like a curry! I run a fair bit and am fit.
When I weighed 8 st 12, I was too thin and gaunt

Shinesun14 · 31/03/2021 10:38

I'm 5ft 6.5 too. I currently weigh 11.11 and a size 12. I look really good at 10.10 - 11.2 and that's what I'm aiming for for summer. I've got big bones (genuinely not cartman) and my head looks like a lollipop any skinner then that. At 10.10 to 11.2 my bones stick out nicely, my face isn't chubby and I look good in my clothes.

FishyFriday · 31/03/2021 10:40

I’m 5’6 and 40. I weigh about 57kg. I think people would describe me as thin. I would look a bit gaunt if I were much lighter. I was lighter when I was younger and it looked fine but it doesn’t do any favours to my face now.

FishyFriday · 31/03/2021 10:41

I’m a size 6-8 (10 in tops because of my boobs).

Veronika13 · 31/03/2021 12:38

Depends how tall people are.
I'm 9.2 stone and 5"8, size 8
I feel very slim but if I was less tall I'd feel more average ..?

Oncemoretwicemore · 31/03/2021 12:41

The op is (very) specifically about being 5'6.5" though
ChloeCrocodile · 31/03/2021 13:40

I'm 5'6" and 11st5lb. About 1st of that is weight gain due to being far too inactive over the last year. I am happiest (and healthiest) when I'm 10st - 10st7lb. I'm currently a size 14 in trousers and never get below a size 12. I was 9st7lb for a while but it was unsustainable as it required far too much time exercising and too much restriction on food / drink.

Singinghollybob · 31/03/2021 13:47

I'm 5 foot 6 and weight 8 stone 6 lbs. I think I have a small build though so I dont look thin, and have a chubby face which might help.

Singinghollybob · 31/03/2021 13:48

Oh and I'm almost 41

CarolinaWeeper · 31/03/2021 14:45

I'm 5'6 and a half and weigh 13st 10lb, I'm a snug size 14. Feeling pretty depressed about it as I'd gone from 15st to 12st before lockdown but had a really, really crap year and weight has crept back up. I really need a kick up the arse to do something about it, I'd like my weight in stones to start with a 10.

jessstan2 · 31/03/2021 14:59

I'm 5'6". At your age I was around 9st 4lbs. Slender but not skinny, quite a good figure if I say it myself. I did go lower than that weight but it really showed and I definitely was too thin then.

I would think nine and a half stone would be fine for you as long as you are healthy.

Ploughingthrough · 31/03/2021 15:06

Between 55 and 57kg.

FoodieToo · 31/03/2021 15:09

@Twospaniels

63Kg Or 9st 9lb in old money
63 kilos is just under 9 st 13 . It’s 9.9 but .9 of a stone is nearby 13 pounds .
TheViewOutsideMyWindow · 31/03/2021 15:16

10st 5 and 5ft 6.5, aged 28, slim with feminine curves, comfortable wearing a bikini on holiday, usually a size 10. Anything less than 10 stone I looked too thin, and my face looked gaunt. God knows why but I thought I looked fat at the time.

Alas that was 6 years ago and now post-baby 1 and 8.5 months pregnant with no.2 and looking very different! Hope to lose some lb post-baby 2 but I can't see myself ever being as slim as I was back then. And im not sure I care. We are so much more than the size of our bodies.

rookiemere · 31/03/2021 15:41

@TheViewOutsideMyWindow I remember being 10 st 2 and feeling fat and now I look at photos of myself from then and I had an amazing figure - I can say it now without it sounding like boasting as I'm 12 stone and definitely don't Blush.
