If you're 5 foot 6 and a half... how much do you weigh...

As the title says... and do you think of yourself as slim, average or overweight?
I think I'm struggling with body image. I've gone down from 11 stone 9 a year ago to approx 9 stone 11... I still feel very overweight and want to lose another 0.5 stone at least. But people say I'll look too thin then. I'm 48 if that helps.

Totally agree it depends on shape and muscle mass. I'm reasonably muscly and have quite an hourglass shape, so although I'm still just over 10 stone at your height, for me that means a flat stomach, so I think I carry clothes reasonably well. Other people with a naturally slimmer shape might have quite a tummy at my weight and feel 'fat'. I think my ideal weight is maybe 9 and three quarters, but less than that and I think I'd look scrawny.

needtoseperate · 30/03/2021 15:57

Today 15:31 AwfulSomething

Don't know, don't care!

also this, I don’t own scales, it’s always out of curiosity

Wbeezer · 30/03/2021 15:59

I haven't weighed myself for a while but i dont like to go much over 10 stone, i think I'm about 9 11 or 12 atm. My ideal is 9st 8lbs. When the gym reopens ill go back to a slightly healthier lifestyle. I'm 53 and try to avoid breakfast and evening snacking and keep an eye on portion size (four men in the house so my portion size had crept up to match).
I was 8 and a half while breastfeeding DS2 and running after DS1 but that was a bit too thin with my frame as i am not petite

thriftyhen · 30/03/2021 16:00

I'm that height and have always been around 8 to 8 1/2 stone (except when pregnant). Late fifties now. Have never dieted. I think it's just the weight I'm meant to be.

Gkeshs3under3 · 30/03/2021 16:01

I'm the same height, I weigh 9st 2lbs and I'm 33.
Size 8 top and size 12 bottom, carrying my twins gave me hips 😅

Batshitkerazy · 30/03/2021 16:01

I’m that height and around 11st 10. Definitely need to lose a bit, but I’m quite heavy boned and muscular. I feel average in terms of slimness, a size 10-12

Tightwad2020 · 30/03/2021 16:01

I'm 5 6 and 57kg. Age 55. I've lost 8kg over the space of 2 years by giving up booze and shifting my eating patterns to a rough 16:8. I looked OK at the heavier weight, but didn't feel great, and couldn't wear some of my clothes, which made me cross. I feel slim and comfortable in all my clothes now, and so I'm less tempted to buy more - frugal and environmentally sound!

I used to do a lot of HIIT-type training as well and didn't lose inches or tone up in the way I"d hoped. The exercise regime that gets results for me is ballet and pilates based (see Lazy Dancer Tips on YouTube) - you use a fantastic amount of muscle in the different workouts and it pulls in all the wobble and squidge around thighs, back, midriff. Lots of walking and some cycling when I can be arsed.

I'm not sure skinny-shaming is really a thing? I've never heard of images of actresses or models being digitally tweaked to look fatter, for example. And thin doesn't seem to carry the negative connotations of greed or being out of control that fat seems to attract. But maybe I'm wrong and the era of big bottoms being fashionable has changed perceptions of what is a desirable weight.

But 'you do you', OP, as others have said. If you prefer how you feel and look at a lower weight, go for it.

Lbnc2021 · 30/03/2021 16:03

5ft6, 11 stone, size 10, 20% body fat but I’m a bodybuilder

user20211 · 30/03/2021 16:04

Same height. Just under 10st, size 10. Feel average.

MabelPines · 30/03/2021 16:08

I think muscle must count for a lot because I’m 12 stone, and a size 20, so all the posters who are around 12 stone and wear a much smaller dress than me you are definitely doing something right!

I wish I could shift my waistline but i have Rheumatoid Arthritis and whenever I get into a good routine for exercise I end up having a flare up and doing exercise means I’m then not fit to look after the kids, so the exercise gets shelved for a bit , and then the harder it is to get back into, and so on.

actiongirl1978 · 30/03/2021 16:09

About 10st, but 9st 11 is my happy place.

I am however fit and toned so my arms are muscly -ish, I have very strong core and defined quads if I tense my legs. I do weights, TRX and run.

Any weight loss sadly comes entirely from food for me as I do the exercise anyway.

Will lose a few pounds ahead of the 17th and meeting friends for lunches etc.

coogee · 30/03/2021 16:12

I think you are right. I'm half an inch shorter and am currently size 6 at 8st 7. Usually 8st 4. Not a body builder but I do lift heavy weights when the gyms are open.

SaberToothKitten · 30/03/2021 16:14

Same height, 50, 61-62kg and feel a bit chubby (very much an apple shape).
Happiest at 58-60kg

missfliss · 30/03/2021 16:16

I'm overweight at 12 stone. I'm 44

Want to be 11 stone.

It's very interesting as I was 10 stone when we got married and it was a huge effort to get there and I was a size 8-10 - I looked a bit 'lollipoppy'.

I'm very active but I eat too much.

SaberToothKitten · 30/03/2021 16:16

Size 12 almost everywhere, but I hate things to feel tight.

DownWhichOfLate · 30/03/2021 16:18

I think a lot of clothes have a lot of Lycra in them. Clothes sizes don’t mean much. Actual measurements do. So, to me, a size 10 is a 28” waist; 12 a 30” waist; 14 a 32” waist etc.

purplemonstermum · 30/03/2021 16:29

I am 5'6" and currently 60 kg (9 stone 6 lb). I am mostly a size 12. I am 52. I think of myself as reasonably slim/average.

At the beginning of 2020 I was 90 kg (14 stone 2 lb). This was too heavy and I knew it for ages, but didn't do anything about it.

30 years ago I was 50 kg (just over 8 stone). Although this was healthy for me at the time I now think it would be unachievable and too stressful to maintain.

I am very happy with the weight I am now and I feel it's perfect for my height/lifestyle. I have some flabby bits but I don't care. I don't want to lose any more. I hope to maintain this weight into my old age.

Twospaniels · 30/03/2021 16:33
@Twospaniels 63kg is just under 10st. I wish I was 9st 9lbs! But it’s definitely about 4lbs heavier than that Grin
Ah ok. I just did a quick conversion through Google.
I am 63Kg

MoiJeJous · 30/03/2021 16:39

66kg/10.5st. Pre lockdown i was 63kg and that’s what i would like to get back to so my clothes fit the way they used to.

emmathedilemma · 30/03/2021 16:40

70kg whatever that is in old money and heavier than I would like to be. I once got down to about 55kg which was too low but it's crept back on and lockdown isn't helping! I'd prefer to be under 65kg, that tends to put me at a size 8-10 when I'm working out properly.

Justonedayatatime11 · 30/03/2021 16:43

5ft 7 and weigh 9 stone 3lb. I personally feel too heavy, I'd be much more comfortable at 8 and a half stone.

LizziesTwin · 30/03/2021 16:53

57kg 5 6.5. Have lost a stone since I had my last period, hoping I’m now menopausal. No PMT or periods is wonderful.

TooManyPlatesInMotion · 30/03/2021 17:00

I am exactly the same height. I have gained over a stone in lockdown and I am now 10.6lb. Previously i was 9.3lb but... At this stage I was training for and competing in endurance events. 9 stone 3 is v much my "racing weight" as assuming I am eating well it gave me the right weight to power balance. Any lower and I looked and felt awful.

I am not comfortable with my current weight but getting back to proper training soon.

Appletreehat · 30/03/2021 17:14

I'm 10st 10lbs, a comfortable size 12. I have been steadily losing my baby weight so feel very slim compared to this time last year! I feel good so I don't feel the need to lose any more. I'm 34.

joystir59 · 30/03/2021 17:16

10st 4lb,5'7" size 12
