If you're 5 foot 6 and a half... how much do you weigh...

As the title says... and do you think of yourself as slim, average or overweight?
I think I'm struggling with body image. I've gone down from 11 stone 9 a year ago to approx 9 stone 11... I still feel very overweight and want to lose another 0.5 stone at least. But people say I'll look too thin then. I'm 48 if that helps.

These threads tend to attract those at the thinner end of the scale. I am 5'7 and vary between 9 and 9 and a half stone (mainly due to genetics). I think of myself as quite slim but not skinny, but other people seem to constantly be telling me how thin I am so I'm surprised that's a common weight for this sort of height. I think a lot depends how you carry your weight and how much muscle you have. I have weight on my tummy but thin arms and legs so maybe that's why people think I look skinny. I also don't do much exercise so somebody with a more athletic build might weigh more than me but carry less fat.

itsme · 30/03/2021 17:19

I'm 5'6.5" (that .5 is important) I've gone from 15st 1 to 13st 12 since mid February- I have 2 more stone to lose to feel happier.

Xiaoxiong · 30/03/2021 17:27

I'm 5'6" and 72kg right now, I'm carrying too much weight especially around my waist and thighs. I'm better off around 63-65kg but struggling to get down there.

I'm a size 12 now, but if I lost a stone I'd still be a 12 - just more comfortable in my clothes.

crispychicken12 · 30/03/2021 17:28

11st

I'm pregnant with my second in under 2 years, so I'm heavier than I'd like.

Pre pregnancy and post first pregnancy I was 10st

Frequentflier · 30/03/2021 17:32

5"7 and 11 stone. I would like to lose half a stone but I am 49, perimenopausal, and don't think it is realistic.

Frequentflier · 30/03/2021 17:33

20 years ago I was 8 stone. But not achievable any more.

ImInStealthMode · 30/03/2021 17:36

About 10 stone 7.

I'm a 10-12 in clothes, veering a bit more towards a 12 recently. I'm not unhappy but preferred when I was a shade under 10 stone and everything was a bit 'tighter'. My own fault for not running anywhere near as often as I used to. I miss Parkrun Sad

CaptainPovey · 30/03/2021 17:40

8 stone 9. When lockdown started I was 9 stone 6

Do more exercise now than before

Don't ever remember being this light

CaptainPovey · 30/03/2021 17:41

Oh and almost 55

NotMyPremium · 30/03/2021 17:42

I'm that exact height and last time I weighed myself, I was 10st 7 I think. I would prefer to be 10 stone but I am toning and this is making me heavier. I am a size 10 though so am happy with that dress size. I used to be 9st 7 and looking at photos I looked too thin. I never thought it when I was that weight but I definitely was and others have also commented on me being thin.

If you think you still have weight to loose, you have an issue that isn't going to be fixed with weight loss.

Frequentflier · 30/03/2021 17:43

Oh and almost 55
Oh this gives me hope.
NotMyPremium · 30/03/2021 17:45

And these replies are massively skewed. I am one of the slimmest people I know yet on here I'm bigger than most. There's no way this is a true representation.

RamsayBoltonsConscience · 30/03/2021 17:49

In January last year, I was 17 stone 6. I'm now 11stone 12lbs and 10 lbs away from target (which is a healthy bmi). I know I'm not thin but I am fairly happy with how I look - running has made a difference as I am more toned. I don't know how I will feel when I get to target whether I will want to get down into the 10stones but at the end of the day it is just a number. Everyone has different ideals, my target weight will be someone's weight at the start of a diet. I don't think that it matters as long as you are healthy and can live happily with yourself.

antidisestablishmentarianism · 30/03/2021 17:49

I am 11 stones and 4 pounds. I am at the top end of my bmi but if I lost half a stone I would be happily in size 10. My lowest I was 9 and a half stones and size 8 was big. I am pushing 60. I and very proportionate, so when I put weight on it goes everywhere equally. The only thing I am fighting currently is my middle is thickening as I get older and older.... and the weight is so much harder to lose.

What amazes me is the variation between people all the same height.

Bimblybomeyelash · 30/03/2021 17:49

I’m 11 stone and I feel gross. I’d love to get down to 10 stone. But I have no willpower at all. Until I hit 35 I was 9 stone with eating and drinking what I liked and with doing no real exercise. But I was always on my feet, I’m much more sedentary now so should eat a lot less, but I find it difficult to resist.

Oh well done. My target is completely defined by my ethnicity. For instance, I have been told that I need to get my BMI below 23 as I am Asian and at risk of being diabetic.
RamsayBoltonsConscience · 30/03/2021 17:56

Frequentflier It was my health that gave me the kick up the bum that I needed. Had been type 2 diabetic for 7 years and last January, the doctor put me on blood pressure tablets. I'm 49 and knew I needed to do something. Last November I had lost enough to come off all of my meds and now my diabetes is in remission. It will come back if I don't look after myself and that is reason enough to keep the weight off!

CaptainPovey · 30/03/2021 18:00

@Frequentflier

8 years ago, I was 2 stone heavier and peri. I am through all of that now, but at the time I hadn't noticed that horrible band of fat around my middle
Its gone now but its not been easy or instant but I think I must have slowly reduced my calorie intake without feeling deprived
I do eat less though and think about what I eat.
Sorry that sounds so up myself but it is frigging hard when you get older

Every time there is a thread like this, somebody says the same thing.

VanGoghsDog · 30/03/2021 18:04

I'm 52, 5'6" and eleven stone six. I'm over weight, would prefer to be under eleven stone, but people describe me as "slim". 🤷🏻‍♀️

EmpressSuiko · 30/03/2021 18:05

I’m 5 foot 6, I weight 8 stone 6lbs.
I do get comments all the time on how “tiny” or “skinny” I am but I don’t feel tiny at all!

TheYearOfSmallThings · 30/03/2021 18:10

I'm 5'6'' and currently weigh 9 stone 5lbs. I feel fat because I normally weigh about 8 and a half stone, but I have spent the last year stress eating, so all my waistbands are tight.

About half the extra weight is under my chin (chins now).

coogee · 30/03/2021 18:10

I only get called tiny by my sister and she's over 6 feet tall.

Doesn't sound up yourself at all. Definitely harder as you get older and I applaud anyone who manages it. All my excess weight is around my middle so not good at all. Hope to do better now spring is here.

Sarahlou252 · 30/03/2021 18:16

45, 5ft6 and 10st 8.
I am comfortable just under 10 stone and this is Lockdown weight which I am working hard to get rid of!
Been between 9½ - 10 stone all my life, size 10.
