If you're 5 foot 6 and a half... how much do you weigh...

As the title says... and do you think of yourself as slim, average or overweight?
I think I'm struggling with body image. I've gone down from 11 stone 9 a year ago to approx 9 stone 11... I still feel very overweight and want to lose another 0.5 stone at least. But people say I'll look too thin then. I'm 48 if that helps.

5'6, 35 and 8 stone 10. Size 8 but severely lacking in muscle tone. Just had a barbell delivered to try and rectify the flabiness of my lower half. I suppose I would consider myself slim (too skinny according to a persistantly annoying work colleague). I start feeling uncomfortable above 9 stone and I think that's because being small, you can feel every extra pound. I was 15 stone 5 at my heaviest and I'm certainly a lot happier than I was then, even if I'm still unsatisfied with the end result

CousinLucy · 30/03/2021 18:18

This is such a fascinating thread. So I am exactly that height. Right now I am 63kg which is my highest weight, in my opinion, I should be. I'm more comfortable at 59-60kg. It's been lockdown. But at that weight I'm size 8-10 and you can see the ribs in my back. At 55kg I get accused of relapsing into anorexia (diagnosed as a teen) and I've had random colleagues say at that weight, "You're so thin." I'm now 43. Isn't body composition fascinating?

Frequentflier · 30/03/2021 18:21

@BigBeachWales Surely you would count as v slim already. Especially given you are 48.

ginandwineandbaileys · 30/03/2021 18:23

I'm just under 5ft6, and weigh around 9stones 10lb. I weight train, and prefer to weigh nearer to 10 stones. I wear a size 8 to 10, 26 jeans. Keeping to around 10 stones is right for me, I look healthy at this weight

MrsCalypsoGrant · 30/03/2021 18:23

I'm a tiny bit under the height you specify I'm actually 5' 5 & 3/4" but really wish I was 5' 6 &1/2" or moreSmile & weigh 9s 1lb.

I maintained 8-8 & 1/2 stone through my twenties & just under 9 stone through my thirties. Now 45 & keeping around 9 stone is harder, but I'm active & like feeling slim.

Claudia84 · 30/03/2021 18:30

11 stone and the heaviest I’ve ever been so I feel pretty crap to be honest. Usually hover around 10st and feel average (and fine with it£ but I know if we were talking about comparisons to the adult population it would be slim.

MichelleofzeResistance · 30/03/2021 18:36

Currently 12 and a half BlushBlushBlush but down from 14 and disabled so exercising a total bugger. Def overweight, my current aim is to get under 12 stone. I'd like to get to 11 which is the line of not overweight. 9 st is probably in the realms of dreams only. Sad

Frequentflier · 30/03/2021 18:42

Quite odd how we all wear our weight differently. I am a size 12 but a lot of you on this thread who are a stone lighter are also size 12? Maybe I am buying brands that are using vanity sizing though.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 30/03/2021 18:54

5ft 6 and 10 stone 6. I’m 48. I usually like to be about 10/3, but a year of WFH and sitting all day means my arse is larger than I want! I wear a size 10, and all my jeans are sized by waist (28 and some 27s) but I feel like my bum looks “curvy” and my thighs are flabby. I have always been pear-shaped so have a flat tummy at least.

Blondefancy · 30/03/2021 18:56

10 stone and a size 8!

Kitkat151 · 30/03/2021 18:59

I’m 5ft 6.5 .... I’m 8st 3lb .... size 8 .... too thin really as I’m in my 50s.....would be happy to be around 9 stone

lightlypoached · 30/03/2021 18:59

63 kilos (9 at 13) and a size 10. Slim I suppose ?

JudyGemstone · 30/03/2021 19:02

I’m exactly that height too - I was 13.1st 2 months ago, now 12.4. I have a disability so can’t exercise and gained weight over lockdown which I’m trying to lose slowly through diet.

I’m jiggly but not really fat, about a size 12/14 which is fairly average for 1 woman in her 40s I’d say.

I don’t think my body would enjoy being any less that around 10.7st and I certainly won’t be pushing it. Just want to get back into the healthy BMI range really.

umberellaonesie · 30/03/2021 19:05

I am 5'6 and 76kg. I am a size 12. I feel too big but aware my age 39 and activity level are against me. I would like to 65-68 kg and a size 10

OverByYer · 30/03/2021 19:10

@VanGoghsDog I’m the same weight, I’m a size 12, I’m quite muscly toned from running 3 times a week. I’d love to be a stone lighter but at 49 it doesn’t shift

It's hard to shift. I wear a 14 generally.

NamelessNinja · 30/03/2021 19:15

I'm 9stone 7 and a size 10, I feel relatively slim (have been much bigger post babies) but not skinny- although I'm sure being more toned would help a lot with that!

hennipenni · 30/03/2021 19:15

I’m 52 and weigh 10st 10ish. Last year I got down to9 stone 8lb and felt really great.
I’ve put weight on as I’ve been off sick since January and can’t exercise like I used to, I’ve also turned to food for comfort (and boredom). I don’t like this weight at all.

Cherrysherbet · 30/03/2021 19:18

I’m 5’6” and 47. I weigh 11st 11lbs (just lost 9lbs).
I’m a size 14/16. I’d like to be about 10st 7lbs and a size 12/14.

Kimye4eva · 30/03/2021 19:19

The variation in weight for similar dress sizes is fascinating.

About 8st, early 40s. 18 months since last baby and took a lot longer to lose the weight this time (I blame lack of gym as much as anything).

Typically a size 8, 25 or 26 in jeans. I look very slim. I don’t believe for a second I would be a size 10 if I put on 2st.

doucey · 30/03/2021 19:19

@marialuisa

57kg, I’m 42 and slim but definitely not thin
Snap
MabelPines · 30/03/2021 19:23

I can’t understand how I’m stuck in size 20 clothes at just over 12 stone (78kg on my last weigh in with GP just after feb half term) and the rest of you are getting in size 12’s , I am a 40F bra so there is some boob weight, but it mostly sits around my waist (the most dangerous place to carry fat as well)

There may be some accounting for bloating /inflammation because of my RA I guess ? (Well that’s my excuse I’m going with !)

LolaNova · 30/03/2021 19:24

5’6 and 68kg (10st10)
My measurements are 39-26-40.
I’m heavier than is optimal for me but I don’t think I look bad currently. Just a little bit chubbier around the arms and thighs than I’d like. I had a baby 5 months ago and I’m breastfeeding so my body isn’t quite what it was! I’ve lost about 6kg since January and I’m hoping to gradually get back down to 58-60kg (9ish st) purely because it’ll massively improve my running!

LolaNova · 30/03/2021 19:24

(About a size 12 and 30GG for reference)

lumpybumpylooloo · 30/03/2021 19:24

I’m exactly the same height as you and currently weight 9st 1lbs. I feel slim/ average at that weight. I prefer being under 9st and feel really good at 8st 10lbs/ 8 st 12lbs. I’m a size 10.

I’m also an apple shape and carry my weight around my middle. Even at 8st 12lbs my waist still measures 27 inches. For that reason, anything above 9st 4 and I start to feel a bit wobbly.
