We have been watching Call My Agent which we like a lot, but Saturday is movie night.

So I would like to watch a French film with subtitles to keep up our practice. Please recommend me something good!

Tell No One. Love this movie.

RomainingCalm · 27/03/2021 17:49

The 'Three Colours' series are older but very good. Depending on who's watching, Betty Blue was very popular when I was at university.

Can't beat a bit of Jean de Florette though! 😊

Ilikegherkins · 27/03/2021 17:50

Amelie - old but fab

Ilikegherkins · 27/03/2021 17:52

Also Lupin on Netflix

HedWrek · 27/03/2021 17:56

Les untouchables is brilliant.

Also quite like Populaire

ElaineMarieBenes · 27/03/2021 17:56

Ooh I was going to say ‘Tell no one’ - great film!

I’ll have to say ‘Trop belle pour toi’

Or ‘pour elle’

But could go on!

MrsRedFly · 27/03/2021 17:56

A Very Secret Service - series but v good about French spies in 1960s
V funny!

JaninaDuszejko · 27/03/2021 17:57

I watched 'Aurore' or 'I've got Life' on iplayer recently and it was a bit of amiddle aged romcom. Not the greatest film ever but an easy watch with some funny moments.

Not seen any of them yet but they are free to watch. Les Malheurs de Sophie seems a children's story.

Ilovecardigans1980 · 27/03/2021 18:00

I really enjoyed The Diving Bell and the Butterfly

parrotonmyshoulder · 27/03/2021 18:02

All of greycloudysky’s suggestions!

But also Lupin! We’re just rewatching with the subtitles in French to really practise.

cameocat · 27/03/2021 18:02

Ma Vie en Rose

parrotonmyshoulder · 27/03/2021 18:03

And quatre cent coups

anxiousstanley · 27/03/2021 18:03

The African doctor. A beautiful film

Mumteedum · 27/03/2021 18:04

Tell no one is great.

Also loved The Page Turner and Hidden is wonderful.

Oh and Portrait of a Lady on Fire is perfection.

UntamedWisteria · 27/03/2021 18:04

Ridicule by patrice Leconte

Cornishmumofone · 27/03/2021 18:07

Les parapluies de Cherbourg and 8 Women.

Notglam · 27/03/2021 18:08

Priceless with Audrey Tautou is one of my favourite films.

BraveBananaBadge · 27/03/2021 18:08

Portrait of a Lady on Fire is sublime. If you're after another series do try Spiral, it's a brilliant police drama and think the whole lot is on iPlayer.

timtam23 · 27/03/2021 18:08

All of greycloudysky's suggestions - plus L'Appartement. Loved that film

Nuitsdesetoiles · 27/03/2021 18:09

Cyrano de Bergerac
Swimming pool
Cache

RecordPlayer · 27/03/2021 18:10

'Intouchables' is very funny but heartwarming, if you haven't seen it. I think it's back on Amazon Prime Video at the minute.
I also really liked 'Je ne suis pas un homme facile'. It's on Netflix.
'Diner de cons' is a bit older. It's the original of 'Dinner for Schmucks', as far as I know!
