What song makes you cry?

I was driving to work yesterday and Caledonia came on my radio. I arrive at work absolutely bawling! That song gets me every single time, I’ll be ok for the first few bars then I can’t hold back the tears. I also used to find Tears in Heaven a guarantee of tears but haven’t listened to that in a while.
Wondering what other songs people find have the same effect on them.

I’ve had many a cry to Rearview by Beach Bunny
The Knot by Nieves
21 days and I don’t mind by Brian Fallon

Tears in Heaven is really sad. Sad

I heard Streets of London on the radio the other day. I felt so stupid as I got quite tearful but kept remembering the Victoria Wood programme about the old people's home with the two girls always "entertaining" them by singing it, so I didn't know whether to laugh or cry.

Vienna (single and lonely).

juliainthedeepwater · 26/03/2021 19:06

Today... calling my children home by Emmylou Harris. Heard the live version, just breathtakingly poignant.

ladyvimes · 26/03/2021 19:09

Probably a bit random but after Pavarotti died they announced it on the radio and then played his rendition of Nessan Dorma. I was bawling. It was beautiful and so moving. I’m not a classical music enthusiast generally and I’d heard it many times before and many since but never heard his version.

Nick Cave- Into My Arms

Most beautiful song I’ve ever heard

Fields of Gold.
Also Tears in Heaven.

Baker Street Gerry Rafferty - makes me very nostalgic and melancholy.
And agree with pp about Streets of London.

Furrybootsyecomfy · 26/03/2021 19:11

“Caledonia” didn’t make me cry until I moved away from Scotland, then it would have me in bits.
Sunshine on Leith
Coat Of Many Colours by Dolly Parton always gets me

FindingMeno · 26/03/2021 19:13

Streets of London is rarely played now but I think you'd need a heart of stone not to be moved.
English Rose -The Jam
Stay Now - Hazel O'Connor

ABBA slipping through my fingers

LibertyLue · 26/03/2021 19:27

Caledonia didn’t make me cry until it was played at my uncles funeral years ago and now I can’t not cry.
Yes to ABBA slipping through my fingers.
Off to listen to the other songs in this thread, I’m in a very melancholy mood tonight.
cataclysmiclife I’m sorry for your loss.

Supermarket flowers. It is just so so accurate. I rarely even listen to the actual words in songs but I know that one word for word. Every line gets me.

Soulstirring · 26/03/2021 19:30

John legend all of me. It came of when I was pregnant with my daughter

Perhaps not his intended recipient but it’s perfect for who she is to me

WeCameToDance · 26/03/2021 19:30

Joey - The Horrible Crowes. Pretty sure it’s a cover but it’s hauntingly beautiful and so very sad at the same time.
It’s Gonna Rain all Day - Dan Andriano in the Emergency Room
Warm Blooded by The Hard Aches got me today as well. The opening line just felt so poignant... ‘This year has broken.. the strongest people I know’, Christ that got me.

Muddledupme · 26/03/2021 19:32

After you've gone by Iris Dement catches me every time.
