What song makes you cry?

I was driving to work yesterday and Caledonia came on my radio. I arrive at work absolutely bawling! That song gets me every single time, I’ll be ok for the first few bars then I can’t hold back the tears. I also used to find Tears in Heaven a guarantee of tears but haven’t listened to that in a while.
Wondering what other songs people find have the same effect on them.

Top of the World by the Dixie Chicks.
Everybody Hurts by REM.

Wires by athlete. Whilst my first baby wasn't very poorly she did end up in special care when she was born. That song always hits me hard.

I find many songs by a little-known and much under-rated York band called Mostly Autumn affect me this way. Top of the list are three songs called 'Evergreen', 'Mother Nature' and 'The Gap is too Wide'. Another is Pearl Jam's beautifully poignant 'Black'.

My mum and I always loved classical and listened to it together. The song in 'Carmen' sung by Don Jose to his dying mother', 'ma mere' makes me blurb like a baby, reminds me so much of her. Likewise 'Once in Royal David's City', because it was her favourite. She also loved Cyndi Lauper's 'Time after time', which was played at her funeral.

Off for a Kleenex ... 😭

Anything sung by little children, I was always a disaster at school concerts. (Except St Winifred's "grandma we love you.")

Made the mistake of actually watching it and now I'm bawling!

BluntlySpoken · 26/03/2021 19:47

Also supermarket flowers. And Andrea Bocelli time to say goodbye.
Both funeral songs from loved ones, choking up thinking of them even now..

I miss the days where the infant school would do carols at Christmas. The out of tune version of away in a manger had me in floods.
