I’ve read that council tax outside of London can be more expensive than inside, so I’m being nosy having just got my new bill.

I’ll start:
London, 3 bed terrace £1691.52 (or £169 over 10
Months)

Bloody extortionate imo!

We moved from Bedfordshir to East Sussex. Exactly the same house in terms of size and bedrooms. Went from band D to band F. Its more than 3k a year. But realistically that is only going to keep in going up

Trinacham · 26/03/2021 20:16

£178 3 bed terrace (near Cambridge)

Imisspeg · 26/03/2021 20:17

Outside Glasgow 3 bed detached £228 for 10 months

Trinacham · 26/03/2021 20:17

lovelyupnorth · 26/03/2021 20:19

3 bed detached Cumbria band F. £3k

folloyourarro · 26/03/2021 20:20

4 bed detached £2200 in Midlands. My house was about a third of the cost it would be in the part of London I lived in though so I will take the council tax bill!!

prettybird · 26/03/2021 20:22

Band G in Glasgow: "horizontal semi" as dh calls it (top half of a Victorian stone villa), 3 beds + a small study. £3,480 - but as has been commented, in Scotland that includes water.

andweallsingalong · 26/03/2021 20:23

Yorkshire, band b, 2 bed semi, £1700.

folloyourarro · 26/03/2021 20:24

@hedgehogger1 wow, I'm in a borough council of Northants that's about to turn into one of the unitary authorities, wonder what'll happen with council tax as that's about £600 less than what we pay!

Waxonwaxoff0 · 26/03/2021 20:26

Derbyshire Band A, 2 bed semi. I get single person discount. Just increased from £92 to £96pm over 10 months.

Unmellowbirds · 26/03/2021 20:27

Ours is £330 per month over 10 months - plus £40 per year for green waste collections. That's for a 4-bed detached, Band G, in Bucks.

It has risen noticeably since we moved here just over 10 years ago and is now our second largest outgoing after the mortgage. Can't say I've noticed a corresponding rise in services (still don't have my green waste sticker after renewing in December and two chase-ups).

Don't know whole things crazy. Where I live we're in one area for voting, a different one for bins etc, and a third for telephone area code...

SausageBee · 26/03/2021 20:30

5 bed. South East. 3150a year. Another 100 on top of that each year for garden waste wheelie bin

Maroon85 · 26/03/2021 20:31

We pay £3073 for our 4 bed detached in Herts.

Our rubbish collections are rubbish too! And if you have nappies you need to buy special bags from the council that are £10 for a small roll, they won’t take them in anything else

amusedbush · 26/03/2021 20:32

3 bed terrace in the east end of Glasgow, band C, £1230 split over 12 months. I’m a full-time student though, so that includes the 25% discount. It’s £1640pa without the discount.

TheMostHappy · 26/03/2021 20:34

4 bed detached west mods £183 per month

memberofthewedding · 26/03/2021 20:34

Indoctro · 26/03/2021 20:35

Scotland

£4105 per year

5 bed detached house

Fiddlersgreen · 26/03/2021 20:35

Richmond upon Thames, Band D £196 per month over 10 months.
We moved from Surrey where we were same band but paying £230 per month.

Pearbear · 26/03/2021 20:35

Band A 2 bed flat in Manchester with single person discount is £90 a month over 10 months

Pyewackect · 26/03/2021 20:36

Far too much.

NoddingTulip · 26/03/2021 20:37

£3869.60 band H Wiltshire. Over 400 of which goes to the police who pretty much do FA in our parts. We are in a tiny hamlet and get the occasional drive through by a Police 4x4 or a bobby on a push bike who goes through the surrounding villages once in a blue moon. Someone in a village 3 miles away had their garage broken into 2 weeks ago and 3 bikes stolen, police didn't even bother coming out as they were "too busy"Hmm.

Indoctro · 26/03/2021 20:37

Should of said £410 per month over 10 months.

TroysMammy · 26/03/2021 20:38

Swansea 2 bed end of terrace, band C, on a council estate £1543 pa

Haudyourwheesht · 26/03/2021 20:42
