Vaccinated? Did you get a card?

I (happily) know a lot of people who've been vaccinated know. All of them seem to have been given a card with a batch number, an information sheet, and were given instructions not to drive for 15 minutes. I had none of these. I'm just interested if it really is just my GP (how it feels) that haven't given these out, and whether I should be querying it.

Wasn’t told to wait but asked if I drove in and as I did was told not to drive for 15 minutes.

superduster · 21/03/2021 22:27

Local GP hub isn't giving them out as they weren't sent enough and don't see the point of the extra admin. Loads of local people moaning its outrageous. I'm struggling to understand why it's a big deal, but then I won't be offered a jab for months and probably won't be able to have it anyway so in their shoes just would be grateful rather than be arguing about an appointment reminder card.

RatherLostPenguins · 21/03/2021 22:47

Mine was at my GP who are only doing the AZ. No card, but they gave me a general information leaflet then asked if I had driven there. I hadn't so they let me leave straight away (I assume drivers were to wait as a friend in a different area had to wait for 20 minutes before leaving.)

@philcorn

Same here. My notes on patient access app have all my covid vaccination details there. So I can use as proof. Just like a passport.

SorryPardonWhat · 21/03/2021 22:56

No 15 min wait, no advice re driving...

MrsFezziwig · 21/03/2021 23:12

@Alsohuman

No Confused. There are two different systems, the batch number won’t be entered on patient notes from a vaccine hub.
I didn’t specifically mention the batch number. According to the Digital NHS website, the system used to record vaccinations is the same at vaccine centres as at GP surgeries (Pinnacle?). This is then transferred either electronically or manually to the patient’s medical records. So presumably the information doesn’t remain forever on two different systems? You can’t rely on a card (or a patient) to remember which vaccine they had.
MrsFezziwig · 21/03/2021 23:18

Thanks Bungle and PhilC! I thought it seemed weird that the information wouldn’t eventually be recorded on your medical records!

donewithitalltodayandxmas · 22/03/2021 00:38

Didn't get a sticker

hashbrownsandwich · 22/03/2021 06:21

Let me clarify. Pinnacle won't let you load a red cord without entering the batch number. So it is most definitely on medical record.

Alsohuman · 22/03/2021 07:58

I didn’t specifically mention the batch number

I did. It’s the whole point of the card.

PantherPantherus · 22/03/2021 08:29

I got daffodils and some chocolates, but no card.

Frownette · 22/03/2021 08:47

I didn't get a sticker though!

Because I have allergies I was told to sit tight after AZ but got impatient after AZ and went to the coffee van outside so I could take my face mask off and drink coffee. Had a security man come after me to check I hadn't keeled over in the car park.

All was fine, so glad we might come to an end of all this.

Notquiteworried · 22/03/2021 10:26

I wonder how companies that have introduced no jab, no job (for new starters) are going to deal with some people being issued cards and some not?
I work in care, I've nothing personally to say I've been vaccinated, and I don't think it's fair that a min wage job demand I pay for something from my GP to prove it, like a letter etc that GPs routinely charge for.
I'd give permission but then what about the strain that's going to put on GP services? Not to mention the fact I was vaccinated by a different surgery because we were all done together within by the surgery that is closest to the home, who knows how long it will take for my records to be updated?
Could cause a bit of a recruitment issue I fear.

I want to be vaccinated there!

@Alsohuman

I did. It’s the whole point of the card.

Why is it the whole point of the card - and if that’s the case, what happens with the people who didn’t get a card?
Alsohuman · 22/03/2021 14:00

what happens with the people who didn’t get a card?

The people who didn’t get a card are those who were vaccinated in GP surgeries where the batch number is recorded on their notes.

ALongHardWinter · 22/03/2021 15:35

I wasn't given one. I only found out later when I read something online about it,and also from talking to other people who've been vaccinated that I should have been given one. My Dd wasn't given one either. I will ask when I go for my second one,at the beginning of May (hopefully they don't run out of the vaccine in the meantime!).

Red carpet treatment! 😁😁
Daisychainsandglitter · 22/03/2021 15:53

Yes I got a card but only those who were driving had to wait 15 minutes.
I came on foot so was free to go straight away.
Sorry you haven't had the aftercare that you should have had OP.

AnaofBroceliande · 22/03/2021 15:55

From what's been said on MN, you get nothing in Scotland, not even for the second one.

Bargebill19 · 22/03/2021 16:13

I just showed by patient access app to my new employer. @Notquiteworried

PhilCornwall1 · 22/03/2021 17:02

@Alsohuman

The people who didn’t get a card are those who were vaccinated in GP surgeries where the batch number is recorded on their notes.

Vaccinated in a GP surgery and got the magic card.

No sticker, daffodils or chocolate though.

LimaFoxtrotCharlie · 22/03/2021 17:19

@Bargebill19

I just showed by patient access app to my new employer. *@Notquiteworried*
Mine doesn’t show on patient access, my GP doesn’t permit access to my medical records and I can only use the app to book appointments or order repeat prescriptions
PembrokeshireDreaming · 22/03/2021 17:47

@hedgehogger1

And then I got in my car and drove home and have now been told my insurance would had been invalid while I did that (not sure if that's true)
You have to wait for 15 mins after the Pfizer jab but not the Astra Zenica which is probably what you had at your GP. You should have been given an information sheet and a card with the batch number on!
WTF99 · 22/03/2021 17:54

I'm an NHS worker and was vaccinated at a large hospital hub. I was given a card with batch no. and date, updated at 2nd visit, and on both occasions was made to wait 15 mins before leaving.

I think the card is potentially quite important as proof of vaccination, though presumably an NHS record somewhere has been updated with the fact that I've been done. I'm still quite glad I've got the card though and the sticker
