Vaccinated? Did you get a card?

I (happily) know a lot of people who've been vaccinated know. All of them seem to have been given a card with a batch number, an information sheet, and were given instructions not to drive for 15 minutes. I had none of these. I'm just interested if it really is just my GP (how it feels) that haven't given these out, and whether I should be querying it.

At ours you get a card.
Sit in a distanced place for 15min if Pfizer. Due to tiny risk of anaphylaxis needs to be on premises.
Sit in your car (if you are the driver) for 15 min if AZ due to risk of faint after vaccination.

hashbrownsandwich · 21/03/2021 11:41

The rules with Pfizer is you have to be monitored by a medical personnel for 20 minutes after the jab.
AZ you can leave straight after the jab but cannot drive/operate machinery for 15 minutes after.

The cards are completely useless as they are not a government requirement, not secure and are easily cloned. They're no more use than a hairdressers appointment card.

All vaccines are recorded on to your medical record and that is the only correct and secure way of knowing who's had what. It records the batch, expiry date, use by date, who drew up the dose, who administered it.

I got a card with name, batch number and date on. A care leaflet and was asked to wait 15 minutes before driving. I wasn't driving as DH was waiting in the car for me so was able to leave straight away. I had AZ

Sorry I meant 15 for the Pfizer that was a typo doing too many things at once.

Mintjulia · 21/03/2021 11:42

I have a card with a batch number and an information sheet. I was also told to take a photo of the card in case I lost it. I wasn't told not to drive though.

Had AZ on Friday morning, went home expecting to feel poorly later in the day, but have felt fine, no ill effects at all. Smile

@LimaFoxtrotCharlie

What is the card for? I have one and don’t know what to do with it. Surely it won’t be used as proof of anything eg a vaccine passport, as it would be so easy to forge
It says your name, what type of vaccine you had, the batch number and the date you had it. There's a space where you can add the date of your next dose, when you know it.

Handy to keep in your wallet or stick on the fridge.

It's a personal record, not a 'vaccine passport'.

Sparklingbrook · 21/03/2021 11:44

Had first on Thursday at GP surgery. No card no sticker. Info sheet and told not to drive for 15 minutes.
When they rang to offer me first jab they also booked me in for second in June.

Throwntothewolves · 21/03/2021 11:44

Had the astra zeneca jab, got a card, leaflet and told to wait for 15mins in the car as I was driving. You prob should have been given the information so that's pretty poor on their part. If you are concerned about side effects all the info is available online

murbblurb · 21/03/2021 11:44

Card (az) with name, date and batch and checked to see if there was anyone with me, risk of faint. Jab is recorded on my NHS app (well worth signing up for and works fine on a laptop) next appointment booked when I did the first one.

Also got a leaflet as they had some that day.

Still don’t understand why there’s a need for a personal record. I never got a card for the flu jab, or tetanus. Those details will be on my nhs record should they be needed by a medical professional.

Superstardjs · 21/03/2021 11:58

Got a card and a sticker and drove straight home. Noone asked how I was getting home, so it was not an issue i was aware of.

This!

picknmix1984 · 21/03/2021 12:50

We were given a card but we were not told to wait we just drove home straight away!

LIZS · 21/03/2021 12:53

Flu batch numbers will be recorded on your medical records as they are done at surgery. Covid ones need a second dose hence card. Dm lost her card but has been to she just needs to take id to get second dose.

Iwantacampervan · 21/03/2021 12:53

I had the AZ vaccine yesterday - I received a card and information sheet to take home & was told to bring the card to my second appointment. I was also asked if I was driving within 15 minutes.

Shellingbynight · 21/03/2021 13:04

I got a card, leaflet, data sheet (and a sticker!) and the vaccinator told that as I had the AZ I could leave straight away. Only those who had the Pfizer had to wait 15 mins. She didn't ask if I was driving (but I wasn't). This was at a major vaccination hub.

I was told to keep the card safe and produce it when I go for the second vaccination.

ratspeaker · 21/03/2021 13:06

nope,
no card
no note of vaccine number

same with husband

drive through centre in Scotland

chipsandpeas · 21/03/2021 13:07

i got a leaflet which had the space for the info to be written on but it wasnt apparently they werent doing it - this is nhs scotland in a vaccination centre
was asked to wait the 15mins before driving whch i waited

HidingFromDD · 21/03/2021 13:11

I had AZ and was told to wait for 15 mins but only because I have a couple of allergies (not related to anything in vaccine and no anaphlaxis). Told to sit in car which was in a multi storey so no one would have spotted if I had had a reaction though (I didn't)

donewithitalltodayandxmas · 21/03/2021 13:12

Yes card and info and told not to drive for 10 mins although ok to leave

donewithitalltodayandxmas · 21/03/2021 13:13

To add had az

donewithitalltodayandxmas · 21/03/2021 13:14

Also have next date for my jab as booked on the online system so gave it me automatcally

RagzReturnsRebooted · 21/03/2021 13:14

Not everywhere got them or they ran out. We ran out but printed a load up so they're paper rather than card. I also now tell everyone they can see their vaccination on their NHS app/electronic health records access should they need to (though you can't see the batch number on the app I don't think).

hedgehogger1 · 21/03/2021 13:15

@Kitkat151

Ps. You were fine to drive....no restrictions on insurance
That's good to know, thanks. That was the main reason I was thinking I should ask the surgery. Didn't want others being in the same situation

AZ last week at a major hub, given a card and told not to drive for 15 mins (wait in car).
