She made a lovely calming film walking the sheep to graze, but I lost it.
She wasn't enthusiastic but she gets on with things - and after the pigs her 'disgust threshold' is high - unless it's dust on white surfaces.

She also had gardening as a graded subject.

Champagneforeveryone · 18/04/2021 12:25

My preemptive actions did not help and consequently I am grievously hungover, worse than I've been in years.

My 4.45 alarm was not appreciated this morning and I feel ghastly

I'm actually at the point where I'm considering never drinking again

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 18/04/2021 12:40

champagne poor you, it'll pass (Smile encouragingly).

MissConductUS · 18/04/2021 14:45

Oh, I just wondered if your hours changed each week or if you had set hours. Are all of your parents nearby?

I have somehow managed to become a department head in the waning days of my career, so my hours are pretty set. Or they were until covid hit last year. Things have calmed down again, fortunately.

DH's dad passed away quite young, so I've never met him. Except of course though his son and grandson. My father passed a few years ago. My mum and MIL are both pretty close, about 40 minutes away, but in opposite directions.

Champagne, there are worse things than never drinking again. We use the word intoxicated when someone is drinking because alcohol is in fact a toxin.

It's a lovely day here again. The men are making BBQ spare ribs for dinner and we'll Zoom with DD later, the cheeky young lady.

I will be back at work from tomorrow. I will actually go in for my test and handover, after that I hope to WFH to better fit in the physio appointments.
DS is back to school tomorrow, too.
DH is quite happy to be on his own again Grin

HildaTablet · 18/04/2021 18:05

That all sounds like good progress, Prok - as long as you don't try to clean the kitchen again Grin

It was fine and sunny here again today and I had to get a bit of work out of the way in the morning, but then got on with the important business of making a cake, as we'd run out. We've had a butternut squash from the veg box knocking around for ages so I found a nice-sounding and very easy recipe which is basically like a spiced carrot cake but with grated squash.

I may have had to taste a corner when it was baked, just to see that it was OK, and it's very nice

Then I cut DH's hair in the garden.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 18/04/2021 18:14

hilda Smile DH told me cleaning is a luxury, we have to do without (apart from areas touched by food)

IWanderedLonely · 18/04/2021 18:48

Just had burgers for tea in Morrison's new brioche rolls. Very nice. D'S is home for a few days - hadn't seen him since Christmas, so I'm feeling very happy.
When we went for our run this morning we saw catkins - spring comes late here so that was a very welcome sight.

Holothane · 18/04/2021 18:57

Lost my engagement ring last night gutted dh found it on the bathroom floor I can no longer wear it on the right finger due to arthritis. Before though he told me toy another one so brought a Diana lookalike ring, which 9m thrilled about but even better I’ve my original found again.

amigababy · 18/04/2021 19:54

Hello again. Those are amazing pictures rhubarb I hadn't heard of Caen locks before. I'm near the Leeds Liverpool canal and Bingley five rise locks, nice cafe near there Cake

We did a good walk this morning, 7 miles with an excellent rest on a bench in the sun with a chocolate bar, it didn't last long.

Very tired now though, good in a way as my sleep is also disrupted. Magnesium supplements help. And gentle podcasts. I've been listening to Marcovaldo on BBC sounds. Relaxing.

Frownette · 18/04/2021 20:01

@amigababy did you take a flask of tea as well? I love long walks.

I'm back home after relative's, I took her washing back to mine as she hasn't got her washing machine plumbed in! I didn't spot a small yellow flannel at the bottom of the bag until after the wash had started so I thought of just taking it back with the other stuff tomorrow as I'm not doing another wash til Tuesday Blush

Actually I'll just ask her if she wants it back unwashed or if she can wait for it.

Champers hope you recover soon :)

amigababy · 18/04/2021 20:02

Hilda send cake! Cake It sounds delicious!

Champagne hope you are feeling better, and that's an extremely early alarm.
I might just have a glass of wine, but as it's the last in the bottle, that'll be it for the night.

forgetthehousework · 18/04/2021 20:03

(Whispering) Hope you're feeling less fragile by now @Champagneforeveryone.
What a relief to have your engagement ring back @Holothane; I can't wear my original one either (and for the same reason), but I prefer to keep it safe in a drawer rather than risk it coming off a different finger. My substitute ring is very pretty but I've not been wearing it much as we just haven't been going out a lot ...

amigababy · 18/04/2021 20:06

Not on this walk Frownette , wish I had as I got thirsty. But it was a close to home walk so I forgot to organise it.

We did on Thursday though, up in the high Pennines, beautiful sunshine, packed lunch etc.

HildaTablet · 18/04/2021 20:17

This is the cake recipe amigababy - sorry I can't send the cake!

amigababy · 18/04/2021 20:20

Silkiescats big envy, I adore rabbits! We used to have two, and an aggressive cat too. Though she wasn't aggressive with the rabbits, they used to chase her around! I miss pets and would love a house rabbit. Or indeed anything.

Dd got a cat last year to keep her company in lockdown, we have been invited to cat sit later in the year, that'll be lovely.

Dd is autistic. Late diagnosis. And studying for a PhD. She's doing well.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 18/04/2021 20:33

amiga That's great about your DD.

NDN are be back, so no more feeding the cats.

And guess what, it is raining.

Frownette · 18/04/2021 20:39

@amigababy go DD, superb!

Yeaterday I thought it was Sunday, today I keep thinking it's Saturday (senility). I want a jacket potato with beans and cheese so I'll have to walk further to the only supermarket that's open, dammit, as I have no CHEESE. The near ones shut at 4pm.

amigababy · 18/04/2021 20:41

Thank for the recipe Hilda , both dh and I have been getting into more baking in lockdown, I think one of us will be making this soon!

amigababy · 18/04/2021 20:45

How far is the far supermarket Frownette ?
It's shopping day tomorrow, we take DFil, but for logistical reasons, dh is picking him up, while I walk to the supermarket and meet them there. It's 40 minutes ( this is a good thing, I'll enjoy the walk)

Planning a small shop this week as the cupboards and freezer are quite full, I'm going to try for a week of "using up what we've got" .

Frownette · 18/04/2021 21:43

It's only 15 minutes, I just felt lazy for a minute.

Added complication, neighbour wanted me to order an indian for him. It's just by the supermarket so I said I'd pick it up for him, saves him delivery cost (he's Greek and speaks limited English). I put the potato on before I left so it's nearly ready now :)

HelenaJustina · 18/04/2021 21:48

Am all ready for work tomorrow, lunchboxes made, school bags packed, shoes located and by the front door, lateral flow tests done... Need to get an early night so that the 6am alarm isn’t too much of a shock to the system.

Frownette · 18/04/2021 21:51

Ooh we're getting towards a full thread, MissC will have to set up a new one soon.

Well done Helena!

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 18/04/2021 21:54

Helena me too, all ready and already in bed. Tests are done at school and at work tomorrow. They are 'official', so I can go and by surgeon approved sneaker socks. Grin

Frownette · 18/04/2021 21:55

On my way back from supermarket I was walking close to the parked cars and there was a man sitting in one in the dark. I squinted at him from a few inches away so he probably thought I was a nutter.

Then a few cars along someone had left their lights on and my heart sank at the thought of ringing doorbells after 9pm so I walked on (and I had neighbour's indian getting cold). I feel a bit guilty about that.
