Unfortunately, Dboycat has killed a few birds that landed on the deck while he was out there surveying the forest. Anytime a stranger enters the house he immediately jumps in his feline Tardis and teleports away.

New England had a rare April snowstorm last night. It missed us in New York but DD got about two inches of snow in Massachusettes. Massachusettes opened up vaccine availability to everyone 18 and older on Wednesday and she was able to book an appointment for her first jab for tomorrow, at a Walgreens/Boots pharmacy about 20 minutes away from campus. She'll have to take a Lyft or Uber to get there and back but it's money well spent. So that's a bit of a relief.

I'm really pleased it's Friday. Smile

@Sunbird24

I’m sitting in a nook in the corridor at work listening to two ladies further down (who don’t know I’m here I think) having a competitive ailment comparison. Neither of them claiming covid though.

Ooh, they’ve just finished, think it ended in a draw...

Those are always amusing. My sciatica beats your arthritis any day of the week.

My favorite is when people have seasonal allergies or a mild head cold and claim it's the flu. No, dear, if it really was the flu you'd be on your arse in bed, not walking about indulging your hypochondria.

Sunbird24 · 16/04/2021 15:36

Yeah, rheumatoid arthritis, diabetes, thyroid disorders... Even to the point of invoking their respective DC’s issues! Twas quite amusing.

Frownette · 16/04/2021 16:59

Ooh competitive illness competition, I'll join in. Well, I've recovered from tonsilitus/strep throat. Had blood tests yesterday because my platelets are below par. I've become a chocoholic. Not going to win an award, am I? :(

Brilliant about son MissConductUS Smile

Nydj · 16/04/2021 17:14

Thank you freckles for the yoga approval on this thread. I used to do yoga twice a week as we had a brilliant woman at work who taught us during her lunchtimes. I stopped after leaving that job then there was some stop start with it and now I started properly again last September and remain fairly inflexible. Realistically, I will stay fairly inflexible but I like to imagine that one day I will be all lovely and bendy.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 16/04/2021 17:54

I started yoga a couple of years ago but stopped when I was supposed to put my head down for those head and shoulder stands. I could not do it, I became nauseous. I loved the relaxation exercises at the end of sessions.

HelenaJustina · 16/04/2021 18:16

Lovely walk with DC today in nearby Small City. Braved the shops (which were surprisingly well managed) and spent a small fortune topping up/replacing essentials like jeans etc. Only two things need swapping which is not bad at all. They were for oldest DC who is at that betwixt stage of being too tall for children’s clothes but not having the figure for women’s.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 16/04/2021 18:37

Back from feeding (and cuddling) the cats Smile.

MissConductUS · 16/04/2021 20:04

Frownette - I'm glad to hear your infection cleared up. You were running a fever for a very long time. How low are your platelets?

And thanks for you kind words about my son. Considering that he was language delayed and classified as SEN as a child, it's amazing how far he's come.

I would love to do yoga but I suspect it's out of the question until I get my torn ligament repaired.

Helena, you do a great deal of walking, good for you. And congratulations on such a successful shopping expedition. That is a hard age to shop for.

Congratulations to your DS, @MissConductUS. That must be great for his self-confidence.

My least favourite kind of competitive ailment behaviour is people who insist on telling you all about the conditions they’ve been SUSPECTED OF HAVING. ‘They thought I had leprosy. Then they thought I had Lassa Fever. Then they thought I had polio.’ Yes but you didn’t, did you? Which makes you just a person who doesn’t have a rare and interesting disease.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 16/04/2021 21:01

Miss It is amazing isn't it! Not on your DS's level, but before her diagnosis I was told not to expect much from DD (if you can't add and drift off you must be stupid). And now she is halfway towards her BA at Humboldt. (I managed to remain polite during that conversation Grin.)

MissConductUS · 16/04/2021 21:16

Squirrel, what's especially annoying about that is that no one actually thought they had those diseases, they simply had to be tested for and ruled out as part of the differential diagnosis process.

Prok, well done to your daughter! Is she at this Humboldt?

MissConductUS · 16/04/2021 21:31

That makes more sense. I'm sure you would have mentioned it if your Daughter was in California. Smile

I am sure I would have remembered to tell you - but she is in fact along the corridor in her room. Semester has started and she was in a 6 hour zoom thing today.
It is like living in an office - 4 adult workstations - we a full of zest and zoom Grin sorry I couldn't help myself.

freckles20 · 16/04/2021 22:50

@MissConductUS crikey I hadn't realised your vaccine programme had reached all over 18s. That's fantastic.

Glad you got your feline fix @Prokupatuscrakedatus. Mine is currently sitting on-top of a folded white T-shirt with a very satisfied look on his face- I suspect he has very muddy paws.

Sunbird24 · 16/04/2021 23:45

An old friend has just invited me to go the the Isle of Wight festival with him in September, and I’ve said yes. We’ve not actually seen each other for years but always got along great

Frownette · 17/04/2021 01:33

@freckles20 oh they get so pleased with themselves when they're naughty.

@MissConductUS I have no idea about platelet levels, I shall ask on Monday!

@Sunbird24 that sounds good, a bit of fun and relaxation with a friend. It seems strange things are opening again.

I'm quite grateful to you Helena as I was puzzled by walking times and looked it up, reason it was taking me longer than it should is that I was walking around the coast rather than cutting diagnally through inland Blush. Take two.

I made a bean chilli earlier and now might watch something.

Silkiescats · 17/04/2021 04:57

Got an email from the Ed Pscyh asking if she could come round to our house as DS refused to speak to her at school. Said to DS and he said No, No, No, does she have one functioning brain cell, if I'm not speaking with her at school I'm not speaking to her anywhere. Easter Hmm

Plus if she comes round that causes major pet logistics issues. Rabbit lives in the living room with DS. Rabbit can not go out the front door as its by the road, rabbit has a baby gate to the dining room to stop him charging and jumping on cat. I'm allergic to the rabbit /hay so I cannot be in the living room. But the cat lives in the dining room and refuses to move, think she has dementia. She tends to attack all visitors especially if she sees DS is upset. Plus DS will run and scream as soon as Ed Pscyh enters and may leave the baby gate open then we will have a screaming DS locked in bathroom, an Ed Pscyh to entertain and a cat / rabbit war. Plus we need to untrash the lounge from rabbit who has eaten a lot of the sofa and still have stuff everywhere from our move. I have new sofa covers but rabbit eats things at a rapid rate, at some point he may explode but I was debating with DH how long do you think it would take for rabbit to eat a velvet sofa cover?

Had a lovely Chinese.

Frownette · 17/04/2021 06:07

Oh dear - could you sit in the garden (weather permitting)? You had another Chinese, what did you order? It sounds like a favourite of yours!

I think you've had first jab now?

I didn't sleep well and am getting up in a sec to put a wash on and have breakfast. Then I want to make the supermarket at 7am when it opens.

Silkiescats · 17/04/2021 06:20

No still awaiting first jab, its on 30th April though today the NHS sent me appointments for 8 vaccines, not sure if they are trying to kill me off. Easter Grin But put all the codes in and only two work so 6 are fake. DH was getting them through on his phone and getting very confused.

I thought of garden and thought great we only need to tidy the garden but the trouble is she wants to talk to DS about school for an hour. DS won't but she has to try. DS will just run everywhere including all the house and she is likely to follow, he will lock himself in our upstairs bathroom but will go via almost every room in our house. Its totally futile her coming here but he won't talk anywhere so I can't suggest anywhere different either. Easter Hmm

I love Chinese, its my favourite meal, well alongside a Sunday roast. I had pork dumplings and banana fritters. DS has the mixed starter all to himself. DD has the vegetarian spring rolls and vegetable chow mein. Once rabbit managed to eat DS's spare ribs when he went to the bathroom and just hid his spare ribs so now rabbit hassles DS for Chinese and DS always says can you order spare ribs for wabbit? And I have to point out rabbit shouldn't be eating spare ribs.

Silkiescats · 17/04/2021 06:30

That sounds lovely Sunbird

Birds are singing outside. DS is already awake and has been out to the silkies, DH is asleep.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 17/04/2021 06:31

Silkie that sounds tough (edpsych not food situation).
I once persuaded DS by telling him that the ed psych would get a bad report, if she could not show her boss a result. So he allowed 15 minutes Smile

Grey, cool and raining here.
I'll go down to feed the cats.

Silkiescats · 17/04/2021 06:42

That's clever Prok I could try that though I suspect DS will shrug and say not my problem. Even when someone dies he just says people die, everyday. He just says she won't trick me and all teachers (she's an ed pscyh but seems to fall in same category) are evil and just enter teaching to make children as miserable as possible. He told me there is even one boy in a wheelchair at school, you would have thought he had suffered enough, but they make him do year 7 Spanish.

Frownette · 17/04/2021 06:45

An hour's too long actually. I'm sure she understands how difficult it is for DS so hopefully a few minutes will suffice. The rabbit has quite a character??

It's a little more clement here, Prok, but the day is yet young.

I've put a wash on and fed myself, so I'd better get ready for supermarket. It's only 3 minutes walk away, if that. Maybe 2.
