This is UNBELIEVABLE, the item I wanted was out of stock but they do early morning fruit veg boxes for £1.50!

Frownette · 17/04/2021 07:25

@Squirrel26

Congratulations to your DS, *@MissConductUS*. That must be great for his self-confidence.

My least favourite kind of competitive ailment behaviour is people who insist on telling you all about the conditions they’ve been SUSPECTED OF HAVING. ‘They thought I had leprosy. Then they thought I had Lassa Fever. Then they thought I had polio.’ Yes but you didn’t, did you? Which makes you just a person who doesn’t have a rare and interesting disease.

I knew someone, who you never asked how she was-because she'd tell you in excruciating detail!
Frownette · 17/04/2021 07:49

I'm going to make ratatouille in a bit (I have a courgette/tinned tomatoes in) and freeze some.

Oddly enough I was going to cook cauliflower cheese for relative for tea so I'll take over the cauli and a tomato to slice and go on top before it's grilled :)

Silkiescats · 17/04/2021 08:18

Just on the silkie chick hatching thread on chat, made me look up buying more silkies, but I'm actually supposed to be planning how to sort the house. But that is so dull.

Frownette · 17/04/2021 08:30

@Silkiescats I didn't even know silkie was a chicken breed Blush

Are yours white and fluffy? They look so cute!

Perhaps put the radio on and get a tea/coffee and sit down and write a list of how to tackle it. There's something satisfying about ticking it off slowly.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 17/04/2021 09:00

The silkies are lovely!
I have taken off the dry washing and put them away.

HildaTablet · 17/04/2021 09:00

Just catching up on this thread and enjoying everyone's unexciting news.

I've been slightly unnerved by having to work out of my own home last week for the first time in over a year, and actually get on a train every day. Luckily it hasn't been very busy and I don't have to travel in peak times but the whole thing feels very odd indeed.

My journey takes me past Barts Hospital in London, which is undergoing massive renovation and is crawling with workmen, and every time I see the crowds of builders in hi-viz I think of this thread Grin

Frownette · 17/04/2021 09:04

@HildaTablet it is unnerving getting slowly released from the invisible cage.

Silkiescats · 17/04/2021 09:13

The silkies are very fluffy, that's why DS chose them as he worships all things floofy, one is white, one is beige.

I am amazing at writing lists of things to do, already done that, no issue with the writing list part. Grin

Ordered some click and collect apple bitter spray which is supposed to make rabbits not chew. Doubt it will put off ours but there were 3 products one called chew stoppa spray rated 2/5, one called chew stopper rated 1/5 and this one rated 4/5.

@silkiescats Lovely pictures! I tried to take a foto of NDN's cats, but they wouldn't sit still long enough.

I am good at the lists part, too. It's the best bit about doing chores.

Frownette · 17/04/2021 09:20

I still want to see your pigeon Prok Grin

Silkie how on EARTH do you restrain yourself from cuddling them?!

I'd better stop messing around on the internet and go get my clothes out of the machine and make ratatouille :(

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 17/04/2021 09:26

@frownette
I can now access the terasse again, so I will do my very best Grin

Champagneforeveryone · 17/04/2021 10:23

We're going to the pub at midday to meet some friends and their two young DS's.

Part of me is resentful as after a couple pints at lunchtime the rest of the day will be a write off. However, the act of putting on proper clothes, going out and actually seeing people is making me giddy with excitement Grin

Squirrel26 · 17/04/2021 10:24

Writing a list never works for me, because fundamentally I do not want to do the things on the list. So I don't, unless there is some kind of legal requirement.

Then I do whatever it is at the last possible minute. Grin

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 17/04/2021 10:34

Squirrel That method works quite well, too.
If you write a list beforehand you can then strike things off and feel virtuous!

Silkiescats · 17/04/2021 10:35

I'm the opposite and I write a list and think wow I have done so much towards these tasks. Though then I read the list and think Easter Shock there's so many things on this list.

DH has just got to the shoe shop.

Silkiecat is not happy at a shoe shop being prioritised over her.

Then I remember I ordered a fleece cat bed and I said to DS and he came up and said is it the thing that looks like a giant fluffy slipper. I said yes that'll be the one so he has given it the cat. It's made her quiet but he said she is viewing it suspiciously.

DH bought DD some new hair dye unfortunately brown which always goes wrong. I said to DD that will go wrong. She said no it won't. Guess who now has purple hair and it had just got back to natural colour. Argh.

HelenaJustina · 17/04/2021 10:50

I love a good list, obviously always start it with something I’ve already done.
Today would have been a list day but DC4’s football training was cancelled unexpectedly so the day has become much less in need of a list - as you were.

Frownette · 17/04/2021 11:33

It's really sunny now. Ratatouille is on the stove and I'm packing up and heading off after it's done

Squirrel26 · 17/04/2021 13:53

I need to take the dog out. He's been hanging around looking hard done by while I've been cleaning the bathroom and kitchen.

Deathraystare · 17/04/2021 14:52

Well I am inviting myself round to@ Frownette's to have some ratatouille. I really should make it myself but... then off to @Silkiecats to cuddle the silkies. Well I would if I wasn't at work!

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 17/04/2021 15:03

I overdid it, I cleaned the kitchen and my foot did not like it. DH and DD had words.

MissConductUS · 17/04/2021 17:17

Happy Caturday, lovely people of the thread! Smile

It's a lovely spring day here. DH was back from the grocery store and was unloading the car when a stranger came up the driveway to speak with him. It turns out the bloke is the executive chef at a local posh restaurant and he noticed that we have a rare species of wild leak growing on our property. They're called "ramps" and he wanted our permission to harvest some in a week or two, as they are not quite ready.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Allium_tricoccum

They have a wild onion/garlic flavor apparently and are hard to procure and very expensive when you can get them. He and DH struck a deal so that he can come back and take some as long as he harvests some for us as well and leaves enough plants so that they will continue to grow. We found his restaurant by googling his name. They do a fixed price take away that we may try next week.

The Ring cameras picked up a fox crossing the driveway this morning at 4:25. His destination was unclear.

DD was scheduled to get her covid jab about an hour ago. I'm temped to text her and ask how it went but she will probably think I'm being nosey. I'll ask DH to text her later. If he does so it will not be seen as nosey as he's her dad and I'm her mum, if that makes sense. Smile

I've vacuuming hovering and washing the bed linens. I only do mental task lists because if some don't get done there's no incriminating evidence that I'm a slattern. Note the skillful use of British slang.

I started counting calories last weekend as I really need to lose about 10 pounds. I'm down two so far, so I feel pretty good about that.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 17/04/2021 18:00

Calorie counting, now that is an idea. I'd like to get back into the middle of the healthy BMI, that would mean loosing - wait, I convert it - a stone.

And I learned that garden center (German) is nothing like garden center (English) - they are worlds apart. Grin

I'll go and feed the cats in a minute.
