@whatswithtodaytoday

Ew to finding him dishy - he's a Tory, regardless of whether he has an attractive face.

But FFS, whyyyyy are women so set on tall men? I have a lovely friend who is 5' 5'' and has really struggled to find someone because women just aren't interested. He's incredibly intelligent, has a good job, mortgage, well travelled, very funny, yet he's discounted because of his height. Ridiculous.

Some of them will be the women panicking about turning 40 childless on mumsnet
peak2021 · 04/03/2021 10:19

I don't think his height is an issue, or indeed that of any politician. Their weight might be because you would not want ill-health to result out of consideration for them and their family.

What I am concerned with is his financial illiteracy and lack of understanding of business, and his alleged influence on the decisions regarding Covid 19 restrictions that supported Mr Johnson's inactions in September in particular.

HeadNorth · 04/03/2021 10:19

He's a short king. I think he is objectively quite good looking, but he is the Tory chancellor so it is a hell, no from me.

FedNlanders · 04/03/2021 10:21

@Wroxie

I don't know what's more cringeworthy - his simpering, suck-up, put-on posh-boy way of speaking and his nasty, idiotic, destructive politics; or you lot who call him 'dishy rishi' and giggle about how short he is. The tories saw you coming a thousand miles away.

I wonder how you'll look back on this idiocy in a few short years when you're hanging on to your homes by a thread and scrabbling around for your next meal thanks to the active destruction and looting of the country by people like Sunak (I mean, this is mumsnet, some of you will be the ones who hoovered up all the wealth and will be laughing at the rest, but the vast majority of you who voted for this lot are basically sheep who voted for the wolf).

👍

@chillibeansauce

I thought he looked about 6"1 until I saw this pic. The power of a well cut suit !
To be fair the bloke standing next to him in that photo is genuinely 6’5”. But yes it looks like an optical illusion.

To be fair the guy in the picture, Simon Clarke, he is beside is 6ft5in so most people will look small beside him.

Google says Rishi is 1.70m tall which is just a smidgen off 5ft7in

PussGirl · 04/03/2021 10:25

He probably looks taller when he's alone as he's very slim unlike fat Boris

How do you know it's because of his height though?

I find tall skinny men attractive but (in my younger days, ha) I wouldn't have been so shallow as to turn down a nice, funny, intelligent, caring man just because of his height 🤷‍♀️

I think dishy Rishi is cute and I can see why some women fancy him.

Parkperson · 04/03/2021 10:26

Some horrible posts on this thread. Picking on someone because of their size is not a nice thing to do. Discriminating against a man because of his lack of height is really sexist.
This is not a thread for MN to be proud about.

Tish008 · 04/03/2021 10:26

@PicsInRed

That's 5'10 on Bumble.
😂😂😂
ZednotZee · 04/03/2021 10:28

@ChelseeDagger

I think you've pretty much hit the nail on the head.

I would say that though as a model with a DH two inches shorter than me Wink

WeIcomeToGilead · 04/03/2021 10:30

My son is 8 and still wears age 5 clothes

I don’t think he’ll be short because his dad and all grandparents are unusually tall

But even if he stays tiny

He’s be a catch and a half unlike some of you twats.

CurbsideProphet · 04/03/2021 10:32

@Bobkitten
My DH is under 5ft 7. I'm 5ft, so he's the perfect height match for me. Don't lose hope for your DS 🙂
I think it's much more difficult for boys at school, though saying that I'm still told how short I am on a regular basis and I'm in my 30s.

GreenlandTheMovie · 04/03/2021 10:33

He really is tiny. Not just his height, but his shoulders, his hips, his bones - all absolutely tiny. He is not just small, he looks weak and looks like someone who has led an entirely urban based life. I could not imagine him picking up a bale of hay in either hand. And I can do that.

I say this as a small woman who is more muscular than Rishi, but whose height is constantly remarked upon by men. Not necessarily in a negative way, but I've had a lifetime of it being commented on. So I don't see why men should be exempt, especially considering that statistically and biologically, they are generally taller than women.

Are you Brienne of Tarth? 😂

Well luckily in real life I don't think people are as shallow.

Sorry OP, what started out as quite a lighthearted thread has got a bit heavy Confused

Belice9222 · 04/03/2021 10:37

Makes you think, politicians wives, if they don't agree with their husbands decisions especially the ones that would be wrong aka like, defunding help for disabled or even the latest, not paying for kids lunches yet not minding themselves eating funded by the taxpayer, how could one be married to a guy like this? My husbands morals are part of the reason why I find him attractive

Youhavetoquitwhileyoureahead · 04/03/2021 10:38

I think the comments to/about short women though are quite different from those to/about short men Greenland - much less derogatory, hostile and contemptuous.

Obviously that's a generalisation - there are examples of those regarding women as well, but I think for women it's shape rather than height which attracts the really awful comments.

Youhavetoquitwhileyoureahead · 04/03/2021 10:41

"Sorry OP, what started out as quite a lighthearted thread has got a bit heavy"

I've found it quite encouraging! The 'I can't date someone shorter than me' threads are quite depressing, so to see some mners challenging the 'tee hee, short men, aren't they terrible' approach is quite nice. Sorry, too many 'quites' there.

Youhavetoquitwhileyoureahead · 04/03/2021 10:42

Not that op was saying that, it was the subsequent comments that I'm referring to!

rattusrattus20 · 04/03/2021 10:43

Yep, it's pretty clear why he was happy to hike VAT in yesterday's budget*, what with him not having to pay it on any of his clothing or shoes.

    • not strictly true.
CovidKingfisher · 04/03/2021 10:43

All in proportion though Wink
